Joker "The Joker" in development with Todd Phillips and Martin Scorsese attached? - Part 2

On the bright side, at least there hasn't been someone stupid enough to call Phoenix's Joker performance bad.

Yet.
Stephanie Zacharek did.

In Joker — playing in competition here at the Venice Film Festival — Phoenix is acting so hard you can feel the desperation throbbing in his veins. He leaves you wanting to start him a GoFundMe, so he won’t have to pour so much sweat into his job again. But the aggressive terribleness of his performance isn’t completely his fault.

"Even when I laughed, I hated myself for doing so. There’s nothing funny about mental illness. There’s just no fun in this film. Maybe a few of Murray Franklin’s jokes but that’s the extent of it."

Danielle Solzman,

C
lose enough

Sounds like she already had her rating of this movie planned out before she saw it.

There needs to be a "Parents: This is not an anti-hero/villain movie like Deadpool or Venom, please don't bring your kids" PSA or something man. Because I already know when I go see this there are gonna be families with kids in tow who are gonna get antsy as **** and probably freaked out by the goings onscreen. Like IT Chapter 2, there was a **** ton of kids at all my showings.

Damn youngins!

Decided to morph together the faces of six live action Joker actors and I received this monstrosity.

Is it just me, or does it sort of look like Hamill with clown makeup?

A morph of the movie only Jokers looks even worse.

And a morph of Cesar Romero and Cameron Monaghan looks like it could be the villain of David Lynch's latest movie.

That is probably what he'd actually look like.

Welp, definitely going to have nightmares tonight. :o

So effectively every critique of this movie and most negative reviews will parrot the “I can’t separate real life from film and this makes me uncomfortable so it’s bad” vibe?

If that’s the extent of it it’s a pretty high quality movie.

RT score sucks.
Didn't realise it was being driven down. A couple of rotten reviews added yesterday but again, the common issue seems to be one that the critics themselves are applying to the film, as opposed to the film taking the stance its been accused of taking. Ambiguity isn't appreciated seemingly.

If nothing else the film is making critics emotive. I'll take that over apathy.

Yeah. The review and actual ratings do not correspond, glaringly, in this film. Which is why fawning over the RT score is really unhealthy. Lol. The critics seemingly can't make up their damn mind. But then again, Todd Phillips is the director so negative reviews are expected.

WB needed to better "massage" the score by having fansite screenings simultaneously in the States.

By the time the Rolling Stone negative review is added, this film will miss its shot to be "Certified Fresh".

Well i liked BvS (Director's cut especially) and i'm not a Snyder fan. i like some of his work ( like dawn of the dead )
