Joker "The Joker" in development with Todd Phillips and Martin Scorsese attached? - Part 2

I'm looking for merch from the movie like artbooks and Funko pops but there's none :csad:. So sad.
I think WB didn't do a normal DC licensing for this, probably treated it like a prestige drama in regards to products coming out

Stop.

No one got offended. People pointed out what Todd Phillips said was stupid and factually incorrect. Pointing out that someone is wrong isn't being "offended"

And for what it's worth, and I mean no offense, THe Vile One dislikes most things. I wouldn't take his reaction as anything
No one got offended? Look at Twitter at the whole army of bluecheck freaks making stupid comparisons and pointing Phillips is a "white man" or some racist **** like that. They haven't given a single valid defense except just remembering Hangover 3 or derivative lazy arguments like that. there was one that even got offended because Phillips said "guys"and got angry when people started to make fun of him. That's all these people do.

Actually found out my tickets are for 4:45 on Thursday not Friday. So I’m excited for that  Gonna have to pull a Ghost Protocol to get out of work tho.

Fine. It wasn’t “no one.” By “no one” I meant a very small minority and that’s what it is and why these guys complaining are just silly. A vast minority will complain that “everyone or most things are offensive” and it’s not like being “offensive” has harmed more of these comedians. I don’t get why people get caught up on a small minority like that

And there have been plenty of defenses. That’s most of what was on there at least from what I saw. People saying Phillips’ point was stupid and false, which is was, and providing examples why it was. Phillips was trying to claim or say that you can't do comedy or that it’s harder blah blah blah. And most people pointed out there are plenty of great comedies that were well received. There are comedies that have “offensive” or whatever elements like Rick and Morty, Veep, Big Mouth, Silicon Valley, Bojack Horseman, and even Superstore that are very popular. All debuted in the last 5-10 years during the rise of Twitter and “woke culture.” All joke about either rape, race, sex, or harassment. Or even all of the above. This “woke culture” stuff is an exaggeration at the least. And that’s what a majority of people are pointing out to Todd Phillips who made a silly point.

Took them long enough.

All the shows you pointed out got a LOT of backlash. Rick & Morty specially Search on Twitter for it. Thanlfully, no one listened to those guys, because those are great shows.
But i agree it's a loud minority people confuse sometimes with majority.

The actors/directors and comedians who whine "people are too sensitive" and "you can't do comedy anymore" are just whiney *****es frankly

When people lose ther jobs over comedy and jokes they deserve to whine about it tbh.
Policing jokes is the lamest thing you can do and people who are easily offended by everything tend to be pretty hateful , vitriolic and violent.

Yeah Burr talks about this a lot. Any time he's asked about his "controversial" style he immediately goes on one of his beautiful rants about how 100 people whining on twitter isn't a "controversy", it's a self-perpetuating cycle of anger and then attention and then more anger aimed at those 100 people, and then wake up the next day and do it again about something else.

Yet those few people are so loud that actually end up achieving their goal which is to destroy people who said "something wrong" by their own subjective standards.

Those "few people" always get media attention & support and manage to have people lose their jobs or force them to apologize for something they shouldnt have to apologize.

A 2,5 out of 5 score from a Screen Rant reviewer.
Joker Review

No surprise here SR has terrible reviews and articles. They have a high bar for low quality journalism.

Omg the soundtrack is amazing! Sounds like something from a Denis Villeneuve movie.
Well, Hildur was a long-time collaborator of late Jóhann Jóhannsson and both worked on Villeneuve's movies (Sicario, Arrival, Prisoners).

Jeremy Jahns gave this movie 5/5. Wow.

Read your words after your viewing, got my pretty hype. What score would you give it?

As someone who’s been thrilled with anticipation while avoiding every single thing imaginable, am I in for more of an intense viewing than I may think?

Do y’all not get how HR and employment works?

You can go to a company and say what you want. And that company can decide to fire you or not. It’s been like that for years. I mean I don’t get the complaint? Do people really not understand that you can’t be hired and go say whatever you want and then say "it's a joke." In fact that's not just with employment.
Freedom of speech is not freedom of consequences and it’s really sad that people don’t seem to get that.

So what? Backlash isn’t new. I said this before. Roseanne Barr, Eddie Murphy, Chris Rock, Andrew Dice Clay, Martin Lawnrece, and more all got backlash, protests, or got checked over their bits. All before the advent of Twitter.

There’s always been people get offended. Why whine about it now? Man up. Do what you do. Clearly being offensive isn’t hurting much, which was the point I and others were making by listing those show. Hell, Bill Burr is only a show being made by Disney after all his bits. Make your show. Some might be offended. If that bothers you or if you actually are in the wrong then apologize. If you don’t? Then keep doing your thing.

Don’t be a child and ***** and moan. I just can’t fathom being middle aged like some of these guys, getting paid hundreds of thousands (or even millions) and whining about “I can’t say certain words.” I used to complain about stuff like that when I was like 10

Who has been destroyed just for jokes?

I love Joaquin, and I love everyone freaking out about his "awkward" and "embarrassing" Kimmel interview. "I feel so bad for Joaquin!" "Why would Jimmy Kimmel do that to him?"

The whole thing seemed like a put-on or a bit to me. Joaquin revels in making people feel awkward and uncomfortable. My favorite moment was when he got really serious and "hurt" about his break dancing.

Yeah I assumed it was a joke. Phoenix is a huge level troll. Remember his rap career. And I don't think Kimmel has done something like that before

Agreed!

I do think it's hilarious that the AwardsWatch forums have been trashing this movie for months, but all of the reviews posted on the main site are positive. Some glowing, in fact.

No it's not lmfao, it'll get like a B+ cinemascore and drop like 50% on weekend 2. It also helps that Gemini Man is shaping up to be a mega bomb
It's a slow, violent, miserable drag that has no light at the end of the tunnel. It's the origin story of Batman's archnemesis and yet he's never going to fight Batman.
I'm gonna love it but seriously, don't expect audiences to eat it up. There's a reason the marvel movies are so succesful and this movie is the opposite of that.

I don't think you know how box office works if you genuinely think this movie is going to drop 90% on weekend 2.

I don't expect general audiences to like it at all. They're going to go in expecting something else entirely

Maybe not 90%. That was an exaggeration on my part, but I don't expect it to have good legs at all.

It doesn't need to though. It'll already make a profit on first weekend at all.

But yeah, a lot of the reactions to this movie say "It feels like a punch to the face". The general audience doesn't like to be punched in the face.
