Joker "The Joker" in development with Todd Phillips and Martin Scorsese attached? - Part 2

wtf. Phoenix got paid $4.5m, and he was in every frame of the film, lost 52lbs for the role, and is a more respected actor than Leto was when he was cast

Suicide Squad was a bigger budget movie than Joker though, so it figures its actors got paid more, even when Leto had a small role.

I doubt any actor is going to make that damaged tattoo Joker work lol.

I don't like Leto as a person, but think he is a talented actor and loved many of his performances .

His Joker was... not good. He could've been good. But he should've been reigned in. He probably played himself in Suicide Squad.
Is that what he’s really like? What a ****! :D:

Joaquin's overweight Joker might have gotten some more sympathy points as well.

"He's overweight, and he's not afraid to kill!"

But straight, white, male AND skinny? That was too much!

You know what would melt the critics more than this Joker? A gay (implied in tendencies) Joker.
Why not a female Joker? :o

Honestly speaking, I wouldn't mind this lol

Probably.
I feel bad for the actor Leto who didnt got to use his full potential as actor.
As person the guy is nuts as heck and if even 5% of what he did on set is true then **** him.

One annoying thing i saw already is the idea that nobody can touch Joker now because of Phoenix.
Which is just ****ing dumb.
Phoenix barely played THE Joker, he played a character who happens to wear clown makeup...he didnt play THE Dc Joker as far as im concerned(not trying to knock the movie or anybody who thinks otherwise).
I would go right now and start cast for the Joker in the "main" DC live action universe instead of bunkering down on Phoenix like he is a mountain nobody should or can cross.

They made it clear that this is a one off movie in its own little universe...no need to be scared or anything...have some guts for christ sake.
The DC universe is so huge, we could have 3 different live action joker and it wouldnt be too much.

People said the same thing about Ledger.

it is truly amazing to me just how much of a disaster the whole thing with leto was, from Ayer completely botching his modernization of the character that no one asked for, all the way up to this story coming out (which seems like its probable)

even snyder would have done a better job crafting Leto's joker, or at the very least he would have looked like he stepped out of a comic or an alex ross painting. Weirdly, I think he would have done a pretty good job with a dceu joker, lotta messed up stuff happens in snyder flicks so perhaps joker would've played to his strengths.

I'm still struggling with the fact that we barely got a glimpse of Phoenix's fully formed Joker, and the fact that I don't want to see a sequel in this Joker universe.

It's not that I don't think another actor can take over the role, but now that I've seen Phoenix play Arthur Fleck, I can't help but wonder how amazing it would be to see him play the "real" Joker in a mainline Batman film. Right now it just feels like a big tease.

Ledger’s interpretation is still the all around best. As far as actual performance, it’s a tossup between Ledger and Phoenix. But Ledger just feels so much more like the comics Joker. I’d like to see Phoenix return and play a Joker that’s a bit more in line with the source material.
If he doesn’t want to do that, get someone else who does. I want a more classic Joker for the Reeves trilogy.

Exactly how I feel. Their performances are equally brilliant, IMO, or honestly Phoenix's might take him to an even deeper and darker place. But arguing which is "the best" Joker, it has to go to Ledger IMO, because he gets to play The Joker for a whole movie's worth while Phoenix only starts to sort of resemble "The Joker" in the third act of the movie. And in that sense, comparing them as Jokers is a little bit of an unfair comparison.

I am not sure you can call it a "whole movie's worth" when he is in like 15 minutes of the film. I love Ledger's Joker but he sits out the majority of the film. His few scenes though he just kills it in.

Yeah. I really want to see his fully formed Joker in a bigger film. We've had the starter but not getting the main course lol.

I get what they mean. Ledger's Joker got to revel in some really meaty full-on Joker material. Every scene he's in he's executing some plan or showing us his crazy worldview. He's 100% in every scene.

Phoenix showed us the build-up to that 100%.
