Joker "The Joker" in development with Todd Phillips and Martin Scorsese attached? - Part 2

Phillips is definitely one to watch out for, going forward.

I'd almost be tempted to see him take the reins of the DCEU, but I know he's not really a comic book guy.

And the DCEU is effectively dead anyways, so...

If they take a cue from their books they can reboot it over and over until it clicks. Right now I would just make a bunch of stand alone movies, and they have a ****ing library of characters and teams they can use to boot. I really want Legion of Superheroes to make it to the screen at some point.

Dual role? Honestly I would not hate that, him playing two sides of a coin.

I don't remember seeing this pic.

pretty sure that’s a photoshop. Based on the proportions of that picture, Joaquin would be like 5 feet tall

No it's an official pic from the movie. Saw it in some news articles. That scene was shot but got cut. A lot of the movie got cut.

Also, Todd confirmed on Instagram he isn't releasing a extended cut or the deleted scenes.

No it isnt...unless dead universes still have films made within them which all of the big budget movies do.

I was surprised it beat Zombieland but knew Malefcient was gonna take number one.

Maleficient definitely underperformed though. I mean it only beat Joker's third weekend by 7 million. That is pretty sad...

It’s def dead buddy. Batfleck is gone and the only ones left are Wonder Woman , aquaman and Harley Quinn and evening that is a soft reboot. It’s ova

dead would mean none of them would exist at all. It's not the same anymore, but its not dead

Yeah I'm sure that's gonna turn out fine.
We truly do live in a...

Wait for it...

S O C I E T Y

Jokes aside, if it wasn't Joker they would just use classic Guy Fawkes mask. So nothing really groundbreaking besides the fact it seems they REALLY liked the film (maybe too much?)

Let's just hope none of them gets invited into a talk show.

Finally saw this last night, dang what a movie! I had no idea that Todd Phillips had it in him to pull off this type of movie just based off The Hangover movies and Old School. Beautifully made all around, and Phoenix was absolutely phenomenal as expected. His prototypal Joker at the end was exactly the kind of Joker I've been wanting to see on the big screen for ages—kinda similar to Ledger's, but not exactly the same. I could definitely imagine Phoenix's Joker transforming into a live-action mold of the DCAU Joker to an extent.

I admit I'd be disappointed if Phoenix's Joker never appears in a future Batman movie, but then again it definitely leaves room for another, hopefully younger talented actor to portray the Joker in Reeves' Batman universe eventually. Because as good as Phoenix's Joker was, I'd prefer seeing a younger 30-ish actor playing Joker against Pattinson's Batman.

it’s not going to follow the storyline laid out by Snyder . It’s rebooted softly . The dceu u know is dead.

ok, so you're just making a semantic argument which at the end of the day doesn't mean much. I'm not going to argue semantics with you because it won't lead anywhere and nobody is going to change their mind. And btw, not all of us were on board with Snyder's vision. In fact, one might argue that most people were not on board with his vision, based on how audiences received what he's done.

I personally think his departure was for the better. He should have been replaced after MOS - which btw I think is a fantastic movie a career-best for him and the best Superman movie ever IMHO(It's in my top 5 comic book films of all time). And we should have gotten a MOS 2 among other films before rushing into a BvS and a Justice League. But unfortunately, because of Snyder we immediately got BvS after MOS instead of a MOS 2 which was a mistake. That was actually the beginning of what general audiences saw as missteps by the DCEU.

Despite what the media says Audiences actually liked MOS and was ready and willing to give the DCEU a fair shot after that movie was released. Then they were alienated by BvS. And no matter what you hear from anyone else those are the facts period. They should have come out with a MOS 2, a batman movie and then a BvS movie. But they decided to go the disastrous route and it lost the audience's trust. Luckily it looks like with these last few offerings over the last couple of years the audience is starting to regain faith again. And I think Joker really sealed the deal as far as audience trust goes(All be it not a DCEU movie but part of the DC brand in general). I hope that Warner Brothers does not screw it up a second time around. All they need is some people with true vision running the ship and there is no doubt in my mind that they can be the greatest ever.

Warm, wasn't it WB who insisted on putting Batman in the Supes sequel and not Snyder?

It underperformed regardless of the comparison with Joker's 3rd weekend.

It was projected for $50 mil and didnt even hit 40.
The original opened for $69,4 and grossed a total of $758,5 mil WW.

This one will barely hit $500 mil.

I dont see a 3rd one happening.

not sure but Snyder said he is the one who brought up Batman.

ZS: I gotta be honest, it definitely was a thing that... after Man of Steel finished and we started talking about what would be in the next movie, I started subtly mentioning that it would be cool if he faced Batman. In the first meeting, it was like, "Maybe Batman?" Maybe at the end of the second movie, some Kryptonite gets delivered to Bruce Wayne's house or something. Like in a cryptic way, that's the first time we see him. But then, once you say it out loud, right? You're in a story meeting talking about, like, who should [Superman] fight if he fought this giant alien threat Zod who was basically his equal physically, from his planet, fighting on our turf... You know, who to fight next? The problem is, once you say it out loud, then it's kind of hard to go back, right? Once you say, "What about Batman?" then you realize, "Okay, that's a cool idea. What else?" I mean, what do you say after that? ...But I'm not gonna say at all that when I took the job to do Man of Steel that I did it in a subversive way to get to Batman. I really believe that only after contemplating who could face [Superman] did Batman come into the picture.

no it’s just facts. Batfleck is gone, Leto is gone, cavill is gone. It’s probably just gonna go it’s own way but it ain’t the Snyder verse anymore. That’s over. And good riddance
