Joker "The Joker" in development with Todd Phillips and Martin Scorsese attached? - Part 2

Humanity in general.

I'm still hoping for the best but even if it's bad I look forward to reading the "2 deep 4 you" posts that always surround these movies.

I'm a spoiler junkie, so I read it. Honestly there's nothing really unexpected there. A lot of it is what we predicted or speculated from this characterization. So no real disappointments there. Again just think of it as a 'what if' take on the Joker, and it works.

Sounds pretty damn good, too.

Yeah I read the spoilers as well and it seems in line with what we expected. Sounds pretty good as well. I don't see any reason to worry yet.
The issue isn't that the plot is problematic, it's that someone as easy to please as McWeeny didn't like the script.

I usually like McWeeny but it isn't like one man's opinion can make or break my hype for a movie. I also think judging a script (that has been changed a lot, no less) before you see the finished movie is jumping the gun, as a lot of story beats and dialogue can hit you differently when you read it vs seeing it play out.

Agreed! Definitely really enjoying what I read. I can't help myself with spoilers haha

Drew McWeeny is pretty sane and quite nice from what I remembered. I'm absolutely surprised with his very hostile attitude about this script rumor. He made a vague tweet, borderline negative in his following tweets, and lashed out to people who asked him (some of them are not very nice, understandable, but he strikes people who just ask or wanted him to clarify). Even went on blocking spree.

Don't follow discussions about this rumor right now, it's just high level toxicity of unpleasantness. Words like
incel, misogynist, alt-right, etc.
are everywhere.

Jeremy Conrad said that detailed plot leaks (from 4Chan) are false though.
But indeed agree that part of it could be divisive depending on the people. But the script itself isn't terrible for him.

apparently Joker kills Zazie's character because she turns him down

this is totally Joker lmfao, cant wait to see it
Btw, i can already see American SWJ twitter all traumatized by this, im not american and i certanly dont live the same raciist problems they do but i see the outrage coming lmao

Basically a villain doing something villain-y.
Apparently that's part of yesterday's outrage. People threw 'Incel: The Hero Movie', racist and misogynist, a lot. But somehow still argued that how Joker is portrayed by the movie to be a hero because he got cult followers. I mean, many terrorist idiolized or inspired by a head terrorist, but that idol still isn't a hero, right?

I'm not American too (and is considered to be hella left by my country standards) but I always wary to step into a discussion because so many times, both sides turn into something unrecognizable and monstrous.

So we're back at zero. lol

We still have the commotion because some people with some industry cred allegedly dislike parts of the final script for the movie. :p

To be clear, I don't oppose any people who dislike the script or in the future, the movie itself. Maybe the movie could be bad, or good. Who knows.
But 5 months early spreading doom and gloom, convincing people how bad it is, then act very hostile around is just not a good look.

Not sure a lot of people are capable of seeing just what ninnies they have become anymore.

Ain't that the truth.
Many people in this popular movie circle that I recalled were nice and thoughtful from time to time turned into angry negativity bringer, sometimes with various 'taste' tendencies (bitter, salty, sour).

Maybe part of it is because there's no repercussion. They could act whatever they wanted and ruin something and most of the time, if they're bloggers or critics, most studio would still kiss their rear. Still give them exclusives and nice treatments, set visits and screenings with good services for the best impression. 'Sense of power' over big Hollywood studio could get into heads.

But I'm aware that fans among the said circle are giving them great pressures too. Bullying, threats and nasty interactions are unfortunately very common. Very tiring and draining. If they turned into some very defensive people, I could see some reasons why.

He also said that
Zazie's character didn't die
in the script he read.

I'm a huge fan of Batman lore from way back, and have followed SHH since the crazy lead-up to TDK, when we all knew Joker would be featured in the movie, but not much else lol Once I first heard that a standalone Joker movie was in the pipe, I knew there was only one place to get my fix for updates, etc. and have been popping in periodically to hear what fellow fans have felt about the trailers, clips and other tidbits of info, but never felt to join in... now that we have what appears to be the first cache of legit spoilers / semblance of what this film might actually be like, I simply couldn't resist rekindling what feels like shades of 2006 all over again, albeit on a slightly smaller scale. Nobody knew what they were in for with Heath, not a clue; here, we know what we have in Joaquin as an actor, and with the combination of trailers and these spoilers (if they're indeed true), we have a fair bit of context as well, and I for one am excited af. I hope what I read is true, because I can't remember the last time I read what purported to be that many spoilers and still feel like there is so much more I don't know, blanks that I'm sure will be filled by what I expect nothing less than the magic we know Joaquin is capable of. Much like Heath, I don't think he would have signed on if he didn't think there was anything unique about the script, or he didn't think he had anything special to bring to the character. It's great to be back, and I look forward to reading everyone's thoughts leading up to this future classic.

Yeah, I just saw his newer posts on that board.
Now seemingly one controversial 'kill' that people riot over isn't happening.

Many of rage yesterday are from people who claimed they read the script as well, bashed it and angry over Zazie's character death/ murder. Now it seems that most of them weren't reading the actual script but the 4Chan fake leak instead. Like, WTH.

*cough* I can't speak for anyone else, but my issue is not the villain doing villainous stuff. He's the Joker, he damn well ought to do horrible deeds.

My issue is when the director openly compares the movie to Fight Club, and declares that people who think Tyler Durden is the hero will love this movie. That is pretty much outright saying that the movie is framed to indulge the sensibilities of those who *mistakenly* believed that Tyler Durden was supposed to be viewed positively.
