I trust this guy more than other insiders. He spoiled me many movies before.

Todd Phillips specifically said that the movie is trying to make you sympathize with Joker until you no longer can sympathize with him and test screenings reactions have said the movie is scary and terrifying.
It won't glorify ****.
I don't get the impression TDK structured Ledger Joker as an anti-hero at all.Yep. Trying to avoid spoilers. This film might be controversial to a degree, because the script is actually fairly strong with relevant, complex social commentary. Recognizes pressures of mental health and economic disparity can lead to someone justifying violence. As we've unfortunately seen again this weekend. The question is, will audiences understand this is less about glorifying "Joker" as an anti-hero like Nolan/Ledger's version, more about a very real, modern, uncomfortable understanding of how this villain could happen. Surface level the script is fine, and as with many classic comic/graphic novels, becomes stronger with reflection on it's relevancy and motivation to be written.
My god, october 4th needs to hurry its ass up already. Like seriously, hurry up!!!I trust this guy more than other insiders. He spoiled me many movies before.
People already looking for reasons to get offended, eh?

Which would be in perfect keeping for a film about The Joker.I keep hearing the movie may be TOO dark for some people. Problably the darkest comic book film ever. And the most disturbing (Phoenix acting is creepy and wonderful).
I love hearing that. As a Joker film, thats exactly what it should be and anything less wouldn't suffice. a Joker film should not be fun or funnyI keep hearing the movie may be TOO dark for some people. Exactly. Joker in BTKJ is evil incarnate, more so than arguably any other appearance in the comics, even though it contains a back story that makes him "sympathetic". Showing a background for a villain does not automatically make them a sympathetic character. Their evil doings speak for themselves.Exactly. No movie has glorified the Joker's actions. I don't know why people would worry they would start now. Just because this version seems to have a sympathetic angle doesn't mean the movie will champ him murdering innocent people.

Agreed completely. If it's darker than Watchmen, Sin City, or Logan then that's on par with the character. The Joker has always reflected what society can do to a person just as it does with his counterpart (Batman). I want a film about this guy to be alarming, disturbing, but also thought-provoking and challenging. It's so nice to hear that this is getting positive reviews because hopefully, this allows WB to start taking risks like they use to.
Reading the reactions to the script on Film Twitter is always interesting. I've seen some stuff where I could understand their point of view but others....I have no idea. An example being that the film having a too simple of a plot so it seems predictable and boring because everything you think is gonna happen, pretty much happens. But a something like this film/script is misogynist because the Joker says and does misogynist things in the movie and its like....well yeah. Joker is abusive to Harley and their relationship is about toxicity. I know comics/cartoons have fun with their relationship (while also noting the abusive, Mad Love does this great) but nobody really explores that part of The Joker... I am so not looking forward to the debates and discourse when this comes out.
preach, my friend! I love the idea of doing something like this for the Joker because its another origin idea that's possible for the character. It'll be added to the list to potential origins, and to me, thats fascinating that there's so much you can do with the characters origins because he doesn't have a specific origin. As the Joker himself stated, he'd prefer his origins to be a multiple choice.Yeah, i don't want to sound mean, but if you are angry that a villain acts like a villain in a movie about him, then you must be really stupid. Twitter is a hell hole. No one cares about those guys or their opinions. Real people from the industry are saying the film is good and terrific (Venice and TIFF directors) and for me, that's all that matter. Joker is a monster. This is the story of him becoming the monster. What do you expected him to be? Joker isn't a hero, or an anti-hero. He isn't supposed to make you feel good or proud. Dude is a mental ill psycopath.
But most of the anger i have seen also comes from the fact that this movie feels too different from the comics, which makes no sense. This movie is doing the same thing Killing Joke did: making a new story for the character. This is why no one makes new stories these days, just adaptations and sequels, everyone fears the backlash of the comic book fanbase because "it's too different". We may finally have something original in our hands and people are angry because it doesn't follow any other comic.
What do you guys think Joker will do at the Tv Show with Mister De Niro?
And I don't want to be spoiled, just curious to read your guess.
I noticed that when he's dancing, he doesn't wear any make up, just the purple/red suit... But he's got it in his make up room... so he puts it while on tv? During commercials? He transforms live in front of the world? Kill everyone?!
I just love the fact that it can go in so many ways... !
It's the goddamn Joker!!!
Luthor's not crazy. Portraying him as such would be a mis-step, I think. He does have Superman Derangement Syndrome.I hope this makes DC make a LUTHOR movie with the same dark and realistic style. I would love to see a movie about Lex going crazy and starting to hate Superman. Some sort of drama style or something like that about Luthor views and philosophy about humanity would be incredible.
