Joker "The Joker" in development with Todd Phillips and Martin Scorsese attached? - Part 2

Plus his Joker laugh rivals that of Ledger or even Nicholson especially when you hear his laugh like in the beginning of the final trailer

Would you guys like this to stay as a standalone story, or do you wish we got a sequel? I honestly, would prefer the former. But the idea of watching Phoenix wear the classic suit...

Also, it's kinda funny this one already has a higher average score than A Marriage Story.

Based on the review by Gizmodo or whatever io9 it's called, there's some story elements that will probably be very divisive among the fans (it didn't mention them but I did the math without reading spoilers and guessed) but based on all the social issues this tackles, I wouldn't be surprised if the "usual suspects" at Youtube will rename this movie The Woker.

We've known for ages that this was going to be a very liberal movie. Gonna be a real contest to see if we get more videos titled "WOKEMEN" or "WOKER" in October.

This movie isn't liberal. From what i read in the script, it laughs about both sides. Everyone is supposed to be terrible and disgusting. Kinda like A Clockwork Orange. There are no good guys in this story.

The script's not blatant about it, but it had a pretty anti-Trump under-current. Who knows how much that's changed on the screen though

The script was anti-everything.
Joker laughed about his followers. And the same people who screamed for equality were willing to kill a couple in front of their kid. The Waynes are the victims here. Bruce is the victim and Joker and his followers are the monsters that ruined his innocence. That's why i loved the script. It makes you understand why Joker thinks everyone is as terrible as him

Sequel, but only if Phoenix wants to do it.

I’d be perfectly fine with a one off, though.

I really wish this could somehow connect to Pattinson's Batman. Seems like a waste of a potentially (by the sounds of it) amazing incarnation of the character.

Maybe waste is the wrong word, since we're still going to get an awesome movie out of it, but just feels like with Batman being essentially rebooted the timing couldn't be better to revamp Joker using this version.m

This worries me, too:

it’s also the worst-case scenario for the rest of the film world, as it points towards a grim future in which the inmates have taken over the asylum, and even the most repulsive of mid-budget character studies can be massive hits (and Oscar contenders) so long as they’re at least tangentially related to some popular intellectual property. The next “Lost in Translation” will be about Black Widow and Howard Stark spending a weekend together at a Sokovia hotel; the next “Carol” will be an achingly beautiful period drama about young Valkyrie falling in love with a blonde woman she meets in an Asgardian department store.

Studios will always want to capitalize on movies that do pretty good, for good or bad. This is nothing new.

Plus, I can't take the opinion of someone who already made up his mind before seeing it seriously.

It has a 8.33/10 Top Critics Average Score. 60% (Six fresh, 4 rotten). Wow...
