Joker "The Joker" in development with Todd Phillips and Martin Scorsese attached? - Part 2

Did you see it? If you did, you do realize the difference between the two movies? Because John Wick has nothing to do with realism. :funny:

Almost like the Joker doesn't either. Can't tell if you're being serious, really..

Reviews for Joker seem to be following Interstellar, wherein the premise and true subject of the film is lost on many critics. Interstellar also followed Nolan's trilogy, so critics were out for blood. I'm giving the current reviews the benefit of doubt simply because we haven't seen it yet, but if their reviews also miss the theme of the film, then it's a validation as fans of the character the critics are holding Joker to a different standard. Everyone has different standards but they have to be consistent.

Is it reasonable to assume by this point that some theaters in US will follow the Aurora theater's suite and ban the movie from showings?

I wouldn't be surprised at this point.

Doubtful, especially considering how high this is tracking

Lol this people and the victims families are plain imbeciles and cowards.

Please don’t call victims of a horrible murder imbeciles or cowards. You have no idea what their lives have been and the pain they and their families will carry for the rest of their lives, regardless if you agree or not with their ways of dealing with it.

They’re free to react in any non-violent ways they choose. Warner Bros and this film will be fine. They never will.

Well does Joker have people killing each other in for example a public train station with nobody paying any attention it? Or the most obvious, gunfights where the main character is obviously using an aimbot? If the answer to both questions, and those are just two examples, is a yes, then John Wick is inherently a far less realistic movie.

I don't know how to react to such thing, how on Earth is the Joker heroic ? Has the writer seen the movie ? It's not about Joker's ascendance but fall into madness.

No, but I have read the interviews where the director has said that his intention was not to show him as a heroic character, if we go by what Joker stands for, in movies and comics, his character is not a role model or shown as heroic.

Here's the Official Synopsis for the movie, I don't think the goal of the movie is to show him in a positive light.
“Joker” centers around the iconic arch-nemesis and is an original, standalone story not seen before on the big screen. The exploration of Arthur Fleck (Joaquin Phoenix), a man disregarded by society, is not only a gritty character study, but also a broader cautionary tale.

Also, I'm done with this subject, if you think the movie glorifies Joker and his actions, then more power to you but in my opinion you are wrong.

Well, not everyone gets the picture unfortunately.

*cough* Twitter *cough*

I think out of all the characters in comics the Joker is the one the crazies gravitate towards. There's been how many heinous crimes committed by people in joker costumes/make-up? Two come to mind, the shooting @ the Dark knight screening & the one where the guy went around stabbing kids but I'm pretty sure there's more than that.

But that is not the movies freaking fault...

I have a bad feeling something is going to go down though so I'm not going opening weekend lol

And again, the dude at the movie was not dressed as the Joker nor was he pretending to be the Joker. The Joker had zero to do with any of it outside of it happening at a Batman flick. Quotes from him specifically have been posted here twice already to prove it.

I will call them whatever I want, because that’s my prerogative.

They are focusing on things that don’t matter to solve this important problem, and just taking a cheap shot at a movie.
Talking about social responsability and gratuitous violence when they haven’t seen the movie even (and almost every action movie has an insurmountable amount of violence glorifying and gun fetishism for that regard). Their logic is flawed at best.

If we bash critics for taking into account the social atmosphere and potential influence on insane people when grading a movie, why should we make a blind eye to these people? Because their families are related to an act of violence?

My uncle and his wife were murdered so I get a free pass on stupidity?

I don’t compromise integrity for cheap guilt-tripping morals and you shouldn’t either. It’s a fallacy-ridden mentality that spreads dangerously like wildfire on shallower minds.

...well that got dark fast. Sorry to hear about that, Roc. :csad:

I think, uh, it's best for some of us to step away from this thread for a while.

On topic: there have been any more screenings other than the French one?

I already bought my tickets for next week!

Where have I said that? My point was that questioning someones review or opinion, when you yourself haven't seen it, is not very logical.

He had "clown hair" and referred to himself as Joker though (though authorities declined to confirm that).

RED hair... not GREEN. These families would be better off writing a letter to McD's [let alone the NRA/the GOP].
