Joker "The Joker" in development with Todd Phillips and Martin Scorsese attached? - Part 2

I think they may do a sequel for Joker, but waaaay down the road. Like, 10-15 years from now so he can age with the character to fight Batman and not have 2 separate Batmen on screen at the same time
I don't see that happening considering Phoenix will be in his mid to late 50s at that point.

And it's Joker in name only.
This version of joker is just as valid as any other joker in the mythos of the character. Imagine if after the first interpretation 80 years ago that nobody followed it up with a new interpretation, the character would not have endured to this day for us to enjoy. The reason the character has lived on is that new generations of writers come along and keep him alive.

how a joker film got more controversy in 2019 than a ted bundy film i will never know

Not sure why this keeps coming up.

It’s a movie with some controversial themes, characterisations and violent acts, featuring an extremely popular mainstream comic book character.

It would have been weird if it didn’t get a lot of controversy.

Imagine him fighting Batman... oh man, I don't want to get excited but a film like this one, same realistic horror style, with Batsy, similar to Joker from Brian Azzarello... oh god.

This would be an absolute dream come true!

But it’s made very clear this Joker will never meet Batman, sadly.

Do you guys know about the new twitter outrage regarding Phoenix walking off set?

The article that has Todd Phillips talking about it was published sooo long ago but they only dig it up now to criticize Phoenix, saying that he acted like a diva. I swear it's like those people are trying really hard to take the movie down lol.

I don't understand why someone would be outraged at Phoenix. Dude is so humble and nice it's almost hard to believe. He's just a little shy and introvert. People like that act weird sometimes. Doesn't mean he's a diva.

Jojo Rabbit and Joker don't deserve the backlash they're getting. If it was about their quality then it would be fair, but it isn't.

Still hope to see those two at Oscars just to trigger all these guys. The controversial films are the future of cinema. (Also cuz i love Waititi).

Or maybe the trailers and those who worked on the movie could do better work in telling people that those concerns will be adressed in the first place instead of letting people guess?

It's not a movie trailer's job to pander to the professionally offended Twitter warriors.

Yea, and Tom Hardy walked off set of Venom because his lines were so stupid he refused to say them and wouldn't come back until they changed them.

Wow. Big woop. Who other than the inconvenienced people on set has any reason to care?

While I don't think anyone should be outraged over him, I've seen interviews in the past where he came off as being quite defensive. I don't think he'd be an easy guy to interview.

I know nothing about this version of Joker. All I see people involved saying stuff like "we wanted to make a movie, but the only thing that studios want to greenlight is CBMs, so we slapped Joker name on it".

Except that doesnt fly with what Phillips has said about why he made the film. Go back and watch some of the interviews especially around Venice.

Travers' review brought the MC score back to 70

If you know nothing about it, why are you already calling it "Joker in name only"?

Authors are implying that it's the case. Unless it's just useless promo talk to elevate it above the regular stuff. On the other hand, it was discussed here what makes a Joker who he is if there's no Batman around. Can we call any killer with a clown appearance "that" Joker?

Phoenix doesn't like interviews. He's the type of actor who wants to just do his job and let the performance speak for itself and not have to sit explaining it and answering dumb repetitive questions. Daniel Day-Lewis is like that too. They're "pure" method actors who hate the press/PR side of things. DDL has even admitted having to deal with press and promotion is part of why he does movies so few and far between, because he hates it so much.

He’s lost his damn mind ever since that mockumentary he did with Casey Affleck but diva isn’t what I’d call him.

Don’t forget De Niro and Nicholson.
