I will say, the reception this movie is getting on that Last Jedi toxic level. Either people are extremely for it or extremely against it. This is why I don't bother with reviews for this one.

Except that doesnt fly with what Phillips has said about why he made the film. Go back and watch some of the interviews especially around Venice.

It's just so fascinating to see the contrast between the reviews from America, and outside America. India, UK, Russia, Italy, France, Spain, Puerto Rico LOVE this film.

Most actors probably don't actually enjoy interviews, apart from maybe with a certain talk show host that they have a good rapport with or whatever, but some are far better at playing along with it.

I mean I can understand that. That’s why I enjoy Colbert and Conan and enjoyed Stewart, Letterman, and Ferguson. They know/knew how to interview. Far better than CNN anchors.

I'm kinda excited for this, even if I'm not all gung ho on the idea of a Joker origin story. It's far enough removed from the traditional dynamic hit on in the comics that I don't particularly care in trying to fully reconcile it with my own fandom.

I think it'll be interesting from an Elseworlds standpoint and that'll be good enough for this weekend.

Phoenix doesn't like interviews. He's the type of actor who wants to just do his job and let the performance speak for itself and not have to sit explaining it and answering dumb repetitive questions. Daniel Day-Lewis is like that too. They're "pure" method actors who hate the press/PR side of things. DDL has even admitted having to deal with press and promotion is part of why he does movies so few and far between, because he hates it so much.

I love The Master so maybe I'm not the best person to ask ha. Maybe watch Inherent Vice or You were never really here. But given you didn't like The Master you probably won't like them either haha x

As someone else already mentioned, check out "You Were Never Really Here". Also give these few a watch. "Don't Worry, He Won't Get Far on Foot" and "We Own the Night".
