Joker "The Joker" in development with Todd Phillips and Martin Scorsese attached? - Part 2

If there’s another movie with Phoenix as the Joker it will confirm that the events at the end of this movie happened, rather than potentially all being in his head as a fantasy. Ambiguity gone.
That's not really the heart of where the story's ambiguity would have its biggest impact though. The movie is a specific narrative on the journey this man takes before finally snapping. That ending sequence is the final stop. The ambiguity doesn't matter at that point.

To compare with The Killing Joke, the book's failed comedian would be the film's Arthur story arc. The book's Ace Chemical bath is the film's Murray Franklin interview. The book's 'washing ashore' reflection is the film's
riot sequence and Joker accepting his new role
.

You can still keep the multiple-choice theme in tact, just like book Joker has continued on for decades with his origin still being unspecified.

Todd Phillips would agree with you. He said "No, definitely not" when asked about his Joker being in Reeve's Batman universe. Go to 1:26 on the video;

Cool.

It’s very clear that this movie is never, ever meant to connect to anything else. The Batman mythos stuff was only included to get the movie made. I don’t see any interest on Phillips’s or Phoenix’s part in Batman, to be honest.

Yes it is.

$275 mil US.
$290 mil OS.
$565 mil WW.

Temporarily enters the 2019 Top 10 dethroning How to Train your Dragon 3.
seeing the money it's making this weekend in the US and OS I am definitely a believer now!

The Seal of Distinction is given to movies that gain a significant percentage of positive reviews from more than 300 members of The American-Canadian Broadcast Film Critics Association.
Wow. So i guess that means this one could really get at least some noms.

I wanna give a shout out to Hannah Gross. I didn't like her on Mindhunter, but she did a great job playing young Penny. Even if it was for only few moments, she showed some talent.

I'm gonna make a tshirt out of this:

WOW! is there a poster of this? Where did you find this?

You can call it minimizing but things are in fact not as bad as they once were. I think the real struggle in Hollywood is with Asians. Way more of them don't get leading roles or big director gigs but they're not in the spotlight at the moment for the "woke" types.
The fact that some progress has been made doesn't discount the fact there is a damn long way to go and a lot of work to do, especially when none of this should have been a reality to begin with. And the road ahead would be a lot easier without dismissive attitudes such as your own. And you are absolutely right about Asians also dealing with the same struggles, it's something I've never discounted and have brought up elsewhere on numerous occasions. But there is also no need to make it a competition between the two by stating asians have the real struggle, as if black actors (or any minority actor) is dealing with a fake struggle.

Give us one example of a black actor or actress being robbed at the Oscar's in the last 30 years. Just one.

Oh, so your point is in the history of Hollywood cinema, there has only ever been one black actress good enough to win the best actress Oscar? Cool opinion.

I've said this before and I'll say it again: please take off-topic conversations and arguments into their respectful threads. If it doesn't have anything to do with the movie, it doesn't belong here. I don't want to be rude here, but it feels like my previous post about this went unheeded.

Just got back from my second viewing and I love it even more. There's so many lite things to pick up on. Also, Philips seems very much aware
Of "if I'm gonna have a past, I prefer it to be multiple choice". There's so many seeds planted and there's literally nothing about what we are seeing we could trust. What's true? What's not? As with the Joker in the comics, that's left up to us to decide.

He said in that interview, you can notice something in the white room towards the end of the film. Any idea what he's talking about?

Didn't even realize that was her!

Saw the movie yesterday. I thought it was very good but I can also understand why it may upset some people. I went with someone who had a family member who had mental issues and it hit her kind of hard. So while I enjoyed this I can understand why some didn't.
