Keep attacking the film...it just makes the box office greater.
This is the most ludicrous attack against the movie yet.

Honestly you gotta see this movie, I think you will appreciate Phoenix's performance in this. Ledger is still my number one but Phoenix was brilliant in this and you can tell that he gave it his all for this role.Mark Hamill will always have the best Joker laugh in my humble opinion. Yeah, yeah, he’s not live action, but it just is the Joker. He’s still what I hear when I read a comic.
I still need to see Phoenix, but until I do, Ledger is my number 1.
I wouldn't have checked out this movie if there hadn't been any ridiculous backlash such as this

Seriously this is just someone being woke just for the sake of it.I'm seriously starting to think some of them are actually mad that the movie hasn't caused a bunch of mass shootings.

Just to be clear black people and/or the average person in general(who just so happen to have leftwing leanings) are not doing this! This is the media and corporate elites. They are doing this because in a lot of ways this movie is an indictment on the 1 percent and the corruption in the US system. Most of us can see this. That is why the media frenzy is not working(And might actually be helping). Remember we have far-leftist politicians who talk about the 1 percent and corporate corruption and the media does the same thing to them(Bernie Sanders imparticular). Also, that tweet from Time...ridiculous. Getting tired of how much they are pushing this woke thing. Grasping at straws on that one.

The NYT article about how the movie is about "whiteness" or "white supremacy" is pretty funny. Sounds like it was written by Brie Larson. Also, that tweet from Time...ridiculous. Getting tired of how much they are pushing this woke thing. Grasping at straws on that one.

Still, what struck me most is that what the film wants to say — about mental illness or class divisions in American society — is not as interesting as what it accidentally says about whiteness. For it is essentially a depiction of what happens when white supremacy is left unchecked. It shows the delusions that many white men have about their place in society and the brutality that can result when that place is denied.
The fact that the Joker is a white man is central to the film’s plot. A black man in Gotham City (really, New York) in 1981 suffering from the same mysterious mental illnesses as Fleck would be homeless and invisible. He wouldn’t be turned into a public figure who could incite an entire city to rise up against the wealthy. Black men dealing with Fleck’s conditions are often cast aside by society, ending up on the streets or in jail, as studies have shown.
And though Fleck says he often feels invisible, had he been black, he truly would have been — except, of course, when he came into contact with the police. They’d be sure to see him.......Whiteness may not have been on the filmmakers’ minds when they made “Joker,” but it is the hidden accomplice that fosters the violence onscreen.
It's really annoying when the media hijacks issues that affect Black people and/or other marginalized groups to push their own corporate agendas(like I said they do this same crap with Bernie Sanders too). It underminds the true plight that those groups have to deal with and that's more disturbing than the movie could have ever been! that excerpt is so offensive to think that they can weaponize the plight of black and marginalized people with their whitesplaination. The majority of black people would side-eye the f@#k out of that article. And if you look at what made up the audience in attendance of this film, Black people are a high percentage of it!The NYT article about how the movie is about "whiteness" or "white supremacy" is pretty funny. Jeez I don’t understand the anger this film gets from people and why they need to just say it’ll turn you into a psycho. How many horror movies are out there where we watch them rampage through teens like it’s nothing. But this movie will suddenly cause an uprising making anyone who see’s it? Please
this woke or SJW thing has become more and more like modern day fascism.
Do some think that no black person has ever been publicly visible before 1990? Ever arguably, to some, incited a group of people into an arguable, to some, riot? Why?The NYT article about how the movie is about "whiteness" or "white supremacy" is pretty funny. Sounds like it was written by Brie Larson.![]()
While the film is set in the past, the class-based uprising it depicts is an optimistic glimpse into a future in which the invisible and marginalized rise up and take to the streets.
I'm fairly sure the agenda is very clear, certainly in the states. To be honest, I think the (relatively) low critic Rotten Tomatoes score is more down to Joker being derivative of Taxi Driver and King of Comedy rather than an agenda.
Dare I say with regards to the high audience Rotten Tomatoes, it's entirely possible a lot of the general audience haven't seen those movies and so Joker would be new and fresh.
I personally think Joker is an incredible movie and should win Best Picture and best lead actor but I was thinking about Martin Scorsese the entire time I was watching the movie. I knew absolutely nothing about this movie going in and I didn't even know who was directing and I thought it WAS Martin Scorsese directing and was surprised when I director I've never heard of (didn't watch any of the Hangover movies) came up in the credits.
The problem with them making that argument is that films that have received high scores on rotten tomatoes like "The Shape of Water"(92%) among many others are also quite derivative if not more so than Joker. The Shape of Water went on to win Best Picture even though it is a complete rip off of Splash. I MEAN ITS LITERALLY THE SAME FILM! That is not an over-exaggeration!To be honest, I think the (relatively) low critic Rotten Tomatoes score is more down to Joker being derivative of Taxi Driver and King of Comedy rather than an agenda.

This is what I am talking about! Don't blame all of us on the left! This is corporatism trying to use left-wing movements as a guise to push their OWN agenda! Just like I was saying earlier and just like Micah Uetricht wrote in the article that @The Overlord shared a few posts earlier, this movie is an indictment on the corporate media and the wealthy elite. It is a film with a truly far-left message and that is the REAL issue the media has with this film, it is criticizing them where they live! Notice how much audiences have embraced this film regardless of the media frenzy. That is undeniable at this point. And the audience for this film is very diverse! Very few if any are coming out of the movie thinking any of the things that have been projected by the elite class. Luckily there are plenty of people on the left like Michael Moore, Beto, Leslie Lee(and there are a lot more than whom we have mentioned here) that are speaking out against them.
