The Kennedy Thread

You mean his leaving the scene, right?

I think that's fair game. But, just because his passenger died...I dunno, it's not like he put a gun to her head, ya know?

I imagine he was probably drunk too. I didn't see mention of it in the wiki page, but she probably was, as well. I'm sure that played a role.

I believe he was only charged for leaving the scene of a crime...

For leaving, for not getting help, for not trying to help her, etc. A girl died by his own actions and he did nothing.

you're not an independent in the middle

I am.

I had forgotten that Eunice died two weeks ago. They both lived very long lives.

Yeah...the Kennedy family just can't catch a break. For them to have just gone through Eunice's funeral, to now have to go through Teddy's...

He died at an old age. It's not horrible or something.

I am aware that both he and Eunice lived long lives...but to have to bury them both within weeks of one another would be very trying on any family. (Especially one that has already had to go through more than its fair share of grief and tragedy.)

Well...one could argue that he wasn't obligated to jump in after her. I think that's something that can't neccessarily be tacked on him.

The leaving of the scene of a crime, however...that's downright ugly. I wonder if the booze had anything to do with it.

But, whatever. The man has passed away, and that was before my time...but, that's what I think on the situation.

It is kinda wierd to see the kind of respect Republicans have for him as a Senator. Watching Bill-O last night, there's a a strange respect for him in how he could give a little...but still fight for what he believed in. An unaplogetic Liberal.

I imagine even if he had been involved with the Health Care reform from the start (because, the truth is...he was not a factor with this one because he had been ill) it could have been a much different animal than what we've got now.

Wasn't it brain cancer?

He wasn't that old. 77 is not that old, by today's standards.

His family does seem to have a history of bad health though. Wasn't Jack Kenney with a medic who wore a suit and tie, with a brief case filled with medicine, because of how poor his health was?

I don't know all of the specifics of the case, was drugs or alcohol involved?

If so, then it would be the same as a drunk driver hitting someone and killing them.

well there's only so much you can do for a drowning victim after a couple of minutes. he was in shock Just like Cheney when he shot that guy. he couldn't talk to the cops until the next day after he was sober err I mean had collected himself enough to talk.

Better to be late in life than early.

I knew a girl who didn't get to see past her highschool graduation from this same illness...

I agree. I think if Ted Kennedy had been involved in health care reform negotiations from the start of this it would be alot better.

He definitely could have kept "Hatch" at the table, along with other Republicans......most definitely.

I'm starting to think that you cannot answer anything in here without slamming a republican.

Ted was pretty involved with health care reform in the seventies though heh :woot:

Well actually, he at least changed to Cheney instead of another slam on Palin. That's at least a change...

I don't think it'd be the same as a drunk driver hitting and killing a person.

If he was drunk off his ass, she would have known. And knowingly gotten in the car with him.

Someone who gets hit on the road by a drunk driver didn't exactly find themself in the choice of getting in the car with that driver.

I just think it's a different case.

It says they left a party, and that it was between 11pm and 1am. The wiki page also said she had left her purse and keys to her hotel, which most likely means she was headed to his place.

It's certainly shady, because of the most likely affair, but I don't think it was murder.

I definitely think Caroline, Patrick, and Ted Jr. are good possibles.

Caroline Kennedy screwed herself over in New York. Patrick Kennedy is a Congressman from Rhode Island, and there are a dozen politicians in Massachusetts who have been building themselves up for a Senate run. It doesn't make sense for him to leave his secure House seat in Rhode Island to run in Massachusetts.

Ted Kennedy, Jr. is a possibility. So is Joe Kennedy, who was a Congressman from Massachusetts.

Yeah. It's almost overwhelming to see how much good will he had with people on the other isle.

Makes me wish there were more politicians, and not just Democrats, who are like that.

.... And by seventies health reform I mean ************ Nixon's universal coverage. :woot:

You don't think that Caroline Kennedy got Palin'd?

Caroline Kennedy is a walking moron. She did it to herself.

Like Palin, I guess.
