Okay, the rumours of a lead character being killed off have been making some noise around all the sites for a week or so now and it appears that we have it on good authority that Kristin Kreuk is the one to be leaving (dying) on the show.

I dont watch the show for Lana, Clark is my priority and holds 99.9% of my interest, but if this is all true and Lana does die in the way that is outlined in the script, then I am officially P***** off.

:cmad:

There is more confirmation that Kristin is leaving & next season ?

Wait....how does she die in the script?

After Clark and Lana have THE talk, Lana goes to see Lex and tells him that their marriage is over.

She's driving away, and for some reason she's speaking with Lionel on the cell phone, and the brakes of her car fail and her car goes soaring off the cliff. It cuts to Lionel who sees Lana's car all smashed at the bottom of a cliff, and her arm hanging out and then the car goes kaboom!

In a nutshell, yes. Lana may not actually be killed per se, but KK isn't coming back, apparently*.

And before anybody asks, no, this isn't just because of the K-Site rumors or what E-Online's Wonda said.

* Nobody is 100% sure though.

I believe you have to be registered to read the forums (or at least some of them) at Sweet. If you do register, the Lana death stuff is in the Spoiler forum and is pretty easy to locate.

I'm coming down from an initial freak-out about this. I think it's best to just wait and see what actually happens before wasting a lot of energy on worrying about this.

Jana's signature says she won't back next season *msg from Kristin*.

I am to lazy to register :o I will just do the waiting game but if Lana does not come back next season then that is disappointing. Because it should be Chloe to shut a certain fan base up :csad:

Pertinent into is spread across the "Lana is dead" threads - all SIX of them, and going for seven.

Jana's posts started here (her handle is "Happy"):

After that, it was all downhill. They're SUPER(!!!) bummed over there, so tread with care.

Yeah, but Allison Mack isn't the one who requested to be let out of her contract early, or so goes the rumor.

So no Lana next season if everything is true & next season is Lexs last season Thats 2 of the main 3 to 4 stars. I wonder if they will bring in a replacment character for Lana or just make Jimmy an official main star next season if Lana really is gone.

Not a replacement for Lana, but definitely a new character(s), they always bring someone new each season, Season 2/3 = Dr. Helen Bryce & Morgan Edge, Season 4 = The Teagues, Season 5 = Milton Fine/Brainiac, Season 6 = Oliver Queen/Green Arrow.

Jimmy should be in 13 eps next season.

There is no need to bring in a replacement. Besides I think Erica might get an extended contract for more than 13 episodes. SDK himself said on his blog Lois has a big story arc coming up next Season. They can't do that if she only does 13 episodes. Lucky them. Didn't know what to do with 3 females anyway. One got everything and the other two got ****.

But who gives a damn. I'm Smallville free. And I feel great. Hence the name HAPPY on Sweet.

Sure you do, don't lie to yourself, you'll miss KK, you won't see her on tv weekly anymore, no more clana, no more sweet, no more pics. The bad outbalances the good for you.. lol.

Assuming KK will truly be off the show come S7, and Lana Lang isn't being recast (hey, don't laugh, you never know with these guys), then S7 will be Welling and Rosenbaum's show. Lois is supposedly getting a bigger story arc than OQ/GA, and who knows what they've got planned for Chloe. Mack will probably stick with the show till it's completely done, whenever that is. She loves her character and loves working with the rest of the cast. Durance is the same; she's said repeatedly she's open to doing more episodes than 13/year, which is what she's currently booked for right now. And of course Jimmy will be back.

All bets are off going into S8, 'cause Rosey will only be back for guest appearances. I know what I would *like* to see, but I doubt it'll happen.

If TPTB didn't want her gone, she wouldn't be - regardless of what she "asks."

It's a business after all. If they think the bulk of their vocal fanbase wants Chloe and Lois, they are probably more than happy to let Kristin go.

Me, not so much. More like the polar opposite of great.

You don't know me. So don't judge me. I'm happy. I'm breathing easier. Because I can stop watching this crapfest they call a TV show.

I don't have to hunt down pics, news, videos etc. anymore. So I finally got more time on my hands. For that I'm very grateful. I don't have to spend money on booze anymore because that's the only way I could endure most of the episodes.

And last but not least. New triangles will emerge. And then you get the crap we Lana fans always did. Cause triangles and angst is the only way AlMiles know. Then they have one of the females do 180 constantly. Because one is bound to get the axe. And Chlark and Clois have their tidy whities in a bunch because of that...and wish Lana would be back so she would get the crappy storylines...I will be laughing in people's faces. Not that I will watch. But I know people who will continue to watch and they will tell me.

In the end no matter what. Kristin has to do what makes her happy (crappy timing now that Lana seems to be going somewhere). And I'm fine with that. And hey I'm happy too. It's a win-win situation.

For the record. I'm not one of those Lana permanent death supporters. Because that would be the crappiest, dumbest, uncreative,................way to write her out. A car explosion? While still a Luthor? The Clark and Lana relationship basically bein unresolved? Yep. You can't be that stupid to do it like that. Then again this is Smallville.

It depends. If she's extremely unhappy, she's only going to be miserable, and that can spill over to the rest of the cast. These people have to act and they have to do so convincingly. It could be more detrimental to NOT let her go, but who knows? They were in a similar situation with Sam Jones, right? He was contracted for five but they let him go after three, so there is a precedent for this action, if it happens.

It's a business after all. If they think the bulk of their vocal fanbase wants Chloe and Lois, they are probably more than happy to let Kristin go.
Wasn't it Gough who said he gets a completely different response from "real world" people than he reads on the I-Net? I think it was on the S1 or S2 DVD extras. He used his niece (I believe) as an example of how diametrically opposed opinions can be on the I-Net verses what he hears from family and friends.

Point is, I'm really not sure how much on-line opinion sways what they write, because if on-line opinion made a difference, Lana would have been in on Clark's secret back in S2, and Clark would be flying on a weekly bases by now LOL.

Actually I think if anything this Season proved something. Compare the ratings of Progeny (Chloe-centric and heavily promoted despite what Chloe fans have said) and Tresspass (Lana centric). Granted Progeny was pre-empted in Chicago but I doubt it's 500 000 viewers there who would have watched.

The word fan-favorite needs to be redefined. Chloe might be fan favorite among the internet. And that's only because 10 Chloe fans can cause more ruckus than 1000 Clana fans. And 90% of that ruckus is bashing other characters. That's where they got fan-favorite from.

But we can only talk about real fan-favorites if someone was to knock on the door of lets say 4.5 Million viewers and ask them who their fave characters are and if they research/discuss the show online. Because the online people are such a damn small percentage of the actual viewership...I always find it hilarious when a character is labled fan-favorite on the internet.

I honestly don't know what the real numbers of Chloe fans vs. Lana fans would be. I know that anecdotally, all of the non-internet posting people that I know who watch the show, just want Lana to know the secret once and for all. And of the teens that I know who watch the show (which is actually quite a few), it's mind-blowing how little any of them know or care about Superman mythology. My son and his friends like Lois because she's hot, but they also like Lana. My daughter, who is a teen, and her friends are all huge Clana fans.

But, when you look at the most well-known and vocal internet sites (not actor /character/or 'ship specific sites) they are all Chloe supporters almost exclusively.

So, who knows?

I like to think I'm a fan of the show in general, but I admit to being a total loyalist to the original big 3 as the central characters of this version of the Superman tale. I'll be sad to see that change, especially when I'm finding the new places they have taken those characters to be the best they've ever done by them.

Honestly, I'd be pretty bummed if Lana was killed off for good at the end of this season. I doubt I'd have the ending to her and Clark's relationship that I would, personally, love to see play out (basically that version from the post-Crisis comics, where Clark tells all right before leaving Smallville). But I can't change how they run things, so I can only hope that, however they do it, they do it as best as they possibly can. I'm sure they'll be able to make it as wrenching and dramatic as it should be, either way.

I'm sorry it looks like Kristin is leaving.

As for me and whether I'll keep watching, I'll view it until the show gets cancelled because of Tom. However, I'm not sure how well it will do with Lana gone. She may not be popular in certain online circles but girls identify with her, I know my pre-teen daughter does.

I think the ratings will slide because of this and next year will be the last.

The O.C. didn't survive the death of one its lead characters who was popular with the young girls, the character played by Mischa Barton.

It got cancelled this year and I don't think it even filled out its full season order.

This isn't a trivial decision by any stretch, no matter how you feel about Lana or Kristin.

As things are right now there is nothing dramatic about her death. She goes to Clark's loft he tells her the secret. She accepts him, they kiss. She drives of to Lex and tells him it's over. Then she goes in her car, break don't work she goes off a cliff and boom. And the only person near her is Lionel ( a freaking damn Luthor who forced her to marry his son). And no Clark in sight.

I'm sorry but that isn't dramatic. That's pathetic.
