Christmas Eve has less people, but Christmas Day is one of, if not the biggest day of the year at the movie theater. But that will be a post weekend number. New Year's Eve and Day are the ones that are just unnaturally lower.
Curious about overseas numbers.
106 in 48 markets in the first two days.

t:A lot of markets opening as this year's best, and in a lot of places the second or third biggest opening of all time. So doesn't sound too bad. 25% behind TFA so far, but 63% ahead of Rogue One so far.Is that good given the particular markets?

Other film studios would murder for Star Wars business. Even when it is "lesser".All I know, I was looking at some early shows tomorrow at the fancy theaters around me, and they are at least 50% sold out. It is going to be a very, very good weekend for this movie.
That's looking pretty unlikely. Still, it will surpass it this week for sure. Maybe Monday. Also a fun thing to look out for. There is a potential for TLJ to pull out ahead of JL's domestic box office at the end of Sun.
If it comes in a 220m or higher, it will have done so. At least JL so far. That's looking pretty unlikely. Still, it will surpass it this week for sure. Maybe Monday.

Well estimates keep moving up, as actual totals come in.it sounds on the high side, but not out of the question.
General audiences and fans are enjoying it. The over the top fanboys are not. They are the very small minority.

If people don't like it, people don't like it. What people are reacting to is the over the top reaction from those inside the fandom who are reacting as if their house was set on fire.Mjölnir;36144811 said:Some people here really come with the consistent insulting and diminishing of people that don't like it. This is starting to sound like the old Nolan Batman boards, which is not a compliment.
Why? The weekend breakdowns continue to move up. Do you expect Sat and Sun to go really poorly? Well, relatively poorly.I doubt it crosses $210m.

Plenty disliked TFA. Plenty inside the fanbase acted like it was the worst thing in Star Wars history. This does not reflect public sentiment, which is the obvious question here.
Yes. Plenty exist. They do with every film. No films is universally beloved or praised. The idea here is general public sentiment.Mjölnir;36144865 said:I've seen people tell me that people that disliked it were only caught in what they had decided that they want, despite me having told them that I didn't have any special expectations other than that I wanted this to be more new than TFA, and having explained details I disliked that have nothing to do with the OT (I'm still not sure whether I can say that I liked or disliked it overall, my SW fandom is still strong). So that definitely exists, and I've been seeing plenty of it.
I took the wording of your post to mean that there's those that love it, and then there's over the top fanboys. If you didn't mean that all that dislike it are that then fine, intent is what matters so I have no issue with that. Fanboyism is extreme on both sides of the coin.
