yeah, i don't see the point of defending this movie at all really. I'm a causal street fighter fan and I've got a good head on my shoulders; this movies looks like crap.

Anyone who is still defending this and saying we need to wait to see it, has got to stop living. It's a P.O.S plain and simple, no two ways about it. Unless this is all some sort of meta viral marketing campaign and what they really show on screen is a super secret completley other film with a whole differnt writer/director/cast etc, then sorry...safe to say we are getting the WORST Street Fighter adaptaion ever (and that includes the Fox Animated Series.

Say what you will about the Van Damme version but at least they had somethings right.

It was USA Cartoon Express. I remember watching it air withSailor Moon, Savage Dragon, and Mortalk Kombat.

I was hoping that this would at least have some decen't fight scenes. But the important fights will probably feature a lot of wire-fu and cheap looking stunts. Vega's spinning still doesn't make any sense to me. Chun Li kicks him so hard in the face that he apparently flies up like a helicopter.

I'm just watching the clips... they look pretty bad... I lol'd at the gun fight after the bomb... The fight scenes started nice, and then the stupid slow motion (what the hell is going on? is a new trend in Hollywood?) ruined the action...

The scene with the building exploding and Chris Klien in the middle of a shoot out is hilarious. Best movie is Chun Li stopping to half smile at him...oh priceless.

just watched the 8 clips on IESB, it... looked mediocre. although i must say there is a gross lack of background music in all the clips, and that some of the audio recording is uneven, which makes me think that this is a rough cut of the film post ADR. music matters a lot, specially in an action flick-- the music supports the visuals, carries the theme of the movie. i'm not burying this yet mostly in account of that-- its unfinished film. and that even with the rough cut, the fight sequences really does look kick ass. but they really need that music track, because anything else thats left to be heard-- the dialogue-- is atrocious.

But the difference is not all Asians look a like. If you didn't know who Christian Bale was you wouldn't know he was British. Moon on the other hand, doesn't look Chinese.

actually i didnt know that Moon was part Korean, i knew she was part Asian-- its obvious. my original statement was that if i had to select a half Asian/ half Caucasian chick, i'd rather go with Moon Bloodgood or Maggie Q, because they can convincingly look like they can kick ass. now if i had to choose a real Chinese girl to play Chun-Li, i'd still have reservations on Zhang Ziyi, mostly because she looks like a twig and doesnt strike me as one who can lay it down with the best of them. all her work in Crouching Tiger doesnt have me convinced that she can play a street fighter-- in that regard she's in the same boat Kristin is.

having the "right look" doesnt necessarily mean you must have the right genetics and/or nationality to pull it off. its a plus if one such actor has it, but its not a determining factor. Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Elijah Wood as Frodo Baggins, these people have the "right look" even when they didnt have the right genetics. but best and most important factor was that they had the ability to play their role exceedingly well. if they kept Moon's hair dark in that movie, i'm telling you she will look more like what Chun-Li should be than what Kristin is.

Kristin kreuk is a beautiful girl, but she was made to look very bad on the recent Smallville episodes with that awful hairstyle, it was pathetic!

Plus, they make her Lana Lang character a whiny little annoying ass!

But it still doesn't excuse this whole production.

At the moment, the 94 Van Damme does not look that bad now in retrospect.
The 94 version had most of the costumes done correctly, and most of the characters were there. Sure, the hollywood style story and ending was a bit poor, but hey, its a hilarious movie and at least we get Bison flying around with electricity in his hands!

In this new so called "serious" adaptation, Bison is a white haired 80s new wave band reject, while Ken & Ryu, the main characters from Street Fighter are nowhere to be seen!

Christ almighty! all they had to do for this movie was to cast two guys as Ken & Ryu,
add in some professional fighters, hire some professionals like Tony Jaa or someone,
and we would have been good to go.
