Am I the only one willing to give this flick a chance to stand on whatever merits it has/doesn't have?

Actually... am I the only one who's going to even see this movie?

i'l go if i can find a theater showing it

OK I saw the clips of the movie ... I officially let go of my 'benefit of doubt' attitude toward this film.

I don't even think its TV b-movie cult material.

at least the jcvd street fighter is enjoyable in a "guilty pleasure/childhoodmemory" type of sence....i dont think there is any way to put a possitive spin on the giant cluster**** they are about to drop on us.

That interview has to be the dumbest interview I've ever seen to promote a movie! Btw, I'm still going to see it right after work tomorrow night. I don't care if it's good or bad, I just want to see KK woop some booty! :bh:

Yep! that's exactly one of my reason to see this movie too! from what i can see from the clips, KK handles herself well in the action scenes department.

That fight scene in the girl's room reminded me of a scene in that HK's girl action flick... so close/ Chik yeung tin si , so that's definitely a good thing!

If by handles you mean god awful wire work and Kreuk looking like a stick figure beating up grown men, then yes...she does handle something

I didn't see 'god awful wire work'to be honest...seen plenty worse than that.

I think your main problem might have been seeing tiny KK beating up large men...seen enough Asian action movies, so that won't be a problem for me.

And just for the record here, i never said that this movie is going to be a great movie. And from all indications, that wasn't what they're aiming for either.it's going to be a fun, slick action movie and that is fine by me.

My friend wants to go see this tomorrow. I'm not sure if he's joking or not, but hey, I'll watch if he pays. :o

I don't understand everybody's problem with wire work... it's not like this is the first fight movie to use wire work?!?! As long as it doesn't look terrible, I'm okay with wire work. But w/e, still going to see it, still going to enjoy it, still going to buy it when it comes out on DvD... and watch it that day too! :woot:

i think it's getting actors who can't fight to use wirework to compensate for their lack of skills.

as with any art, in the hands of a fighting master, it can elevate a scene but in the hands of a novice, you can really tell they can't fight for crap.

and it ends up similar to Fat Bastard in the bathhouse scene where he's just hanging there after one of the wires breaks

You mean like Charlie's Angels?

Im going tomorrow night!

Im going in with such awful, disgustingliy low expectations that even if all Chun Li does is kick someone in the knee...il be a happy camper!:woot:

Charlie's Angels is the only really bad wire work I've ever seen.

Fights in this movie, on the other hand? Look TIGHT. I love that scene where she's hanging upside-down and about to get killed... Liam Neeson's "handcuffed and dangling" scene in Taken's got nothing on that.

seriously? that released scene with Kreuk fighting in an alley has HORRIBLE wire work. Honestly, it looks just as bad as the intentionally bad Seth Rogen wire-jumping scene in Pineapple Express.

The wire work looked okay in the trailer where the cuts were really quick, but in the scenes they showed it looks extremely lame.

Eh. I enjoyed Zack Snyder's style of action in 300 and I know Watchmen will be more loyal to the source material then Street Fighter will be.

Source loyalty wouldn't have worked in this Street Fighter film. I fear that nobody would have watched a buff Chinese woman fight.

The wire work here isn't overblown or overly graceful. There's also more hard landings than you'd expect, and no high leaps. I hate that part of the video game. The fights are definitely not as flashy as what's in Dead or Alive. That's because there's also a significant number of people using guns.

I didn't expect to see an actress with the same proportions as Chun Li. And that really isn't the problem. I just can't buy Kristin Kreuk as an ass kicker. When I see her acting tough, I just cringe. It's not because I'm biased against her, but personally I don't find her convincing at all.
