Because, you know..

I'm glad that people didn't get upset as much in the film having Clark casually drink a bottle of Beer. I remember on how there were actually a group of people who were pissed off that Clark was allowed to drink beer in SR.

I was glad to see it because of the stupid controversy caused by Clark and Pa having a beer together on the one of the Superman: Brainiac covers in 2008.

Indeed; and it just further highlights and the double standards and hypocrisy that people can have towards Superman's character. They say that one of his biggest problems as a character is that he's not relevant and not someone people can relate to, and yet in the same time, whenever they try to do something for the character that tries to fix that problem in a good way, people start complaining and crying foul on how the character should never do that and that he needs to basically be a saint.

:up::up::up:

Man of steel felt like direct assault on these preconceptions. And it was relentless. Snyder knew and just didn't care. You think Superman isn't cool, you think he isn't relevant? Here he is ****ing people up. He just snapped someones neck. Look this destruction is 100X what you saw in Transformers. He can drink because **** you. He's cooler than Batman. He's cooler than you.

Anyways I'm drunk.

Lmao, awesome. I love the PISS out of Man of Steel more and more not only everytime I watch it, but everytime I see the assassin remarks from people who dry-hump the Donnerverse and feel the need to compare it to Christopher Reeve's rendition.

Snyder said it from DAY ONE: I will NOT apologize for my Superman. This dude took this character that forever lived in action-BLUE BALLS, was teased back to the big-screen in '06, only to see the character not be able to "release." Snyder took all that build-up and was all like "Here's some ACTION Supes...have at it!"

Snyder, Goyer and Team MAN OF STEEL took one of the most difficult characters to get right (not only juding by what he can do, but who the fans CLAIM who they THINK he is..) and gave him these huge balls that every other director or petrified writer refused or was scared to do for quite some time. I applaud it!

Yeah I loved that, he absolutely got the power level nailed down. I also like how when they smash into things it sort of jolts them a bit.

And I really love how intense heat vision hurts and takes time to readjust. I get the sense he is also blind when it is on full rage which is sweet.

Snyder was aslo sure to highlight their ability to brace themselves. For example the guy on the fishing boat can tackle Clark Kent because he didnt brace himself. But the guy at the bar couldnt move him an inch when he tried to shove him.

If Superman braced for the bullets Im sure he probably could have taken them without his neck snapping back, but at the same time I dont think it would have been anything like the Returns Superman where the bullets looked like tissue.

When you're dealing with such high powered beings its hard to get it right and consistent. Nam-Ek is blown back 50 feet from jet machine gun fire. I'm not a weapon specialist but here is the machine gun on the F22 that hit Nam EK

Its got 20mm rounds, not sure how that compares to the guns on the helis. But is strong enough to really knock Nam Ek back 50 feet while the guns on the helis couldnt?

Regarding the Battle in Smallville, I liked the quick moment where both Superman and Faora looked up with a sense of urgency on their faces to see the military choppers getting ready to fire in on them. Even though the bullets didn't do much damage to them, I liked on how the military's attempt at subduing all of them wasn't brushed off by either of them.

When Snyder said that he wanted to make the battle in SV look threatening for Superman, he wasn't kidding. I think Superman was like knocked out for awhile twice.

One thing I really like is the energy the Kryptonian weapons fire. I love the trail and how it seems to linger.

It'd be loud, so maybe that might harm his senses more because he isn't used to superhearing?

If Nam-Ek is wearing the helmet I dont think that would be a big problem.

I loved how the Kryptonian spacecraft destroyed the two A10s. It showed technical superiority and raw strength by simply ramming the first one, and then it didnt just shoot the body or wings of the 2nd A-10 jet, it surgically took out both engines. Awesome detail by the filmmakers.

Yep also loved that look of "ok here we go" when he's walking towards Faora and Namek

Yeah that walk down the street towards them was so pure, it was exactly like "I'm sick of these m****** f****** snakes on this m******** f******* plane"

After just listening to the flight soundtrack I really loved the bit where he was flying dips up under the crevice in the desert and just hovers for a little bit and then pushes up into the bit in space - damn that was amazing imagery

It was an A-10 with its 30mm GAU-8/A Avenger that hit Nam Ek. And the helos had the much smaller and weaker 7.62mm miniguns.

Yup. Yup. Ballsy indeed. Which I like so much.

I loved this movie. I have been a die-hard Superman fan since I was a kid, even dressing up as Superman a couple of days when I would go to kindergarten. I'm glad that Snyder took people's preconceptions about the character and threw them out the window, showing people "yes, this is why Superman is the godfather of all superheroes".

Man of Steel was the first movie to get the action and Supes' powers right. And there were so many moments that gave me that nostalgic/awestruck feeling that I used to get as a kid.

The main ones being:
1. Superman flying for the first time.
2. Superman taking out Zod and flying him through the cornfield, yelling about Zod threatening his mother.
3. Superman enduring and then flying back up through the gravity well in India.
4. The shot with young Clark striking the iconic Superman pose at the dog.

I wrote an article on my website about why this was the best Superman movie, if anyone would like to read it (and also so I don't post an essay here).

I love how powerful Cavill looks when he walks up to Col. Hardy after the Smallville battle. It's like he stepped out of the comics.

Yea and that look he gave Hardy before he said he wasn't the enemy....was like please accept me...please...:(

Come to think of it, does anyone know if fans or critics had issues with the fact that Clark Kent basically committed murder in this film, somewhat, when he strangled his evil counterpart to death, with the intent to kill?

they see what the want to see.... in SUPERMAN II he also killed zod without powers and leave two kryptonians to die and then smiling about it... but according to them it's funny :yay:
