Wait, what? Why? What made that so terrible? He was there for 1.5 seconds and said nothing!

I saw him. And I know who he is. For people who don't, it shouldn't bother them of course, but for me, I know it's a cheap cameo that shouldn't be there.

I can't help it, I view movies as 'ART' alongside entertainment. When I see stuff like this, it's like taking a bright neon blot of pink ink and putting a dab of it on the Mona Lisa. I easily notice that it shouldn't be there.

Since Kaw dislikes the Raimi films, I'm not surprised. Heck, I bet he even hated Alfred Molina as Doc Ock!

I can totally imagine the replys when pics get released of Rhys Ifans as the lizard when CGI is not yet added
"The Lizard never had those dots all over him in the comics, the movie is totally ruined!!!"

Dude, everyone knows that those dots are used for CGI enhancements.
So unless you're implying that Spider-Man's costume here is NOT finished, and will have CGI add-ons, stop. :o

Some films are art, others are there simply to make money. If you go to every Hollywood Blockbuster looking for art, you'll be sorely dissapointed.

That's true. But I did find art in Lord of the Rings, Dark Knight and Alien. It does happen when someone dares to have a vision, add creativity and talent into their films. And all of these films made money, two made lots. It's rare but damn it I want it.

Why the hell is it a problem?! It's a 2 second came at the MOST. The man created the character, he deserves it. period.

I think this is about the only Raimi gripe Kaw and I are in agreement on(although I guess there are some minor things I would agree with him on too), I am tired of the SL cameos, I would have kept it to a discreet one in the first movie only.

and as for the movies being money makers and not art, that is not mutually exclusive, they hired Raimi, not a guy previously noted for huge blockbusters whatsoever, they hired him for his artistry, as they knew the name Spider-man would bring in the big bucks automatically, but they wanted a quality product.

I get that, and for that reason I am a bastard. So, in part, you are right. But there's something about cameos, especially of creators (I see you Todd McFarlane playing a bum in the crappy Spawn movie) that says cheap gimmick that I don't like.

You may not like them, but we do. That is your opinion.

I know, and that's what makes me a bastard, I should like it too.

Well that's you. I don't see how in the hell it's a cheap gimmick. Seriously, I don't understand. It's a 1.5 second cameo that does no harm. Personally, I hope it continues on and on.

Sometimes b******s make the best art Kaw, they are ruthless in getting their artistic results.
I do not mind the SL cameos *that* much, but i have to say, if i was making the new reboot movie, and Marvel told me i had to put Stan in, I would have the guy disguised, have it played discreetly, so's you would actually have to look it up on the net where he was in the movie.
and the reason is because i would want people to feel like they were having a fresh experience, during every scene in the movie, and that can't really happen when you have already had umpteen SL cameos in the MMovies.

anyway, i think i have said enough on SL cameos.

Anyways, back to this topic. I think lizard should be in PURE CGI. i cant image the man-made lizard costume.

Lizard should looks badass..somehow! :)

Dude, it was a JOKE

Was it a joke because you realized your post was inaccurate and a tad silly or was it a for real joke? Because your other posts have been pretty serious and pretty quick to come up with excuses.

Absolutely. I'm an old prune. :o

It was a real joke!! I'll explain it to you: Everybody is somehow hellbent on believing that the final product will look just like the spy cam pics! And not from many scenes, from one single little part of a scene!
And I think it's almost as ridiculous as believing that some cgi dots would make it to the movie

I can't believe I just explained my joke to you

The Lizard will unquestionably be 100% CGI. There is no way they're going to make a suit or a puppet or whenever for the closeups when they can just make it on a computer. That's the way most things are done these days.

That may be the truth, but the smartest thing would still be go as far as they can with practical, and then add the rest as CGI. I really hope they will realize that.

If they would just read these threads they could have a perfect reboot

What about the PREDATOR or ALIEN/ALIENS, they were mostly man-made with little to no CGI. I thought both looked great. I don't mind all CGI, but I want Jurassic Park type visual effects. If The Lizard and Spider-Man don't look like they're in the same scene together, because one looks like horribly rendered CGI, it's gonna be a mess. I personally, don't want to see both Spidey/Lizard switching back and forth between real and fake looking CGI.
