The Amazing Spider-Man The Lizard is The Villain!

The thing with Raimi was that there was just too much of a lack of consistency. There were scenes that were quite dark and held no punches such as the final goblin fight in sm1 and the "birth" of doc ock. The problem was, Raimi and his crew completely mismanaged the property. The characters were all off, the exploration of the fantastical elements were subpar and arguably the biggest crime of all was, that for every agreeable scene, it was as if they were ashamed of it and appeased by giving us 5 times as much of boring cheese and childish nonsense.

Agreed! And I'm really hoping they will push the PG-13 to the limit this time lol! I don't want this movie to turn into another joke, like SM3. They shouldn't go soft when it comes to showing violent scenes nor some blood here and there.

They do not need to push the PG-13. Just because SM3 wasn't as serious doesn't mean they need to push it in order to fix things. It is not his nature. This is why I hate this dark and gritty angle. That is not Spider-Man. Just plain ol' PG-13 is fine. SM1 and SM2 had a perfect balance. And in SM1 there was even blood. Actually, more blood than TDK so there. :awesome:

Well said

I think one of the hardest challenges with having Lizard in the movie is making his head look good on screen visually.

I just hope he looks more like a Lizard, and less like just a scaly human.

^Yeah I agree. I actually liked his look in the Spider-Man 3 game for PS3/360, with the legs as an exception. That look was very lizard-ish so to speak, without looking like a small scaled dinosaur if you know what I mean.

...i still want him to walk upright though....

Yeah of course, me too! I just meant that the legs in the SM3 game looked kinda weird.

Wouldn't it be funny if he wasn't even the main villain? There's no confirmation as to who Ifan will play really, just fan deduction. Yes, they're casting Billy Conners, but who says we'll even get Lizard? maybe they're just introducing the Conners family in this one. ...i'm just saying....

I want lizard to start off as the ditko lizard;
scientist overalls
walking upright
hissing speech

and end (after some transformations) as a terrifying, speechless, clothesless creature.

that would be freaking AWESOME!!!

also when the lizard is conners milk the sympathetic angle for all it's worth but when he is lizard he should be a beast and should ALWAYS be a beast, don't let the lizard find redemption in lizard form just CURE HIM.

when all is said and done a lizard movie practically writes itself.

He should wear his labcoat and trousers even in his final form imo.

Eh, if they have to, they can change that. Him wearing complete and untorn trousers would look odd in live action. The lab coat I don't mind. But that thing should be torn to pieces. I want him to look fierce.

I'd love a subway/sewer battle scene between him and Spidey. I know we got one in SM3, but that was a huge disapointment.

Imagine Lizard leading him into the subways and then he somehow kicks him inside one of the subway cars. Spider-Man yells at everyone to get down while he's preparing for the Lizard to come to him. It's dark so he can't see him anywhere. Then Lizard smashes through the car window and takes Spider-Man through the opposite car and back outside.

And should the Lizard talk? He could possibly, I'm still trying to think on how that would sound. But he should be very intelligent.

the sony team could do a lot worse than watch the spectacular spider-man episode, night of the lizard.

basically put THAT on the big screen.

If he does talk, it should sound kind of deep. Not like Incredible Hulk deep. Raspy though.

in a year that will contain

the avengers
batman 3
superman
star trek 2

Sony knows if it doesn't bring its 'A' game it is going to get creamed at the box office

Also the new 2012 updated Godzilla movie, which I think will also be Sony Pictures.

This.

All the studio has to do to get a better visual idea is to watch 90s TAS' Night of the lizard and the first lizard episode of SSM. I'll even say the lizard episode from the MTV show too to a certain extent but Connors in that show was a bit of an a-hole from the offset.
The story and plot is actually extremely hard to f**k up. The hardest part of telling this story or making the movie is the visual aspect of what lizzy will look like and even then it shouldn't be that hard.

Oh and I'm against the lizard speaking. I just can't bring myself to accept a man-sized, raging reptilian beast stringing coherent sentences together, it will ruin the movie for me.

Who says it has to be coherent sentences? I think he should speak, but not much. Just a couple words at a time.

loool no, mate. He's a beast, a primal creature out for blood, he should be for the most part completely mindless. The only vocals coming out of his snout should be the sound of hissing and roaring. Did venom speak? No he didn't apart from the times where the symbiot pulled back off Brock's face which allowed him to speak but other than that he was shrieking.

...have you ever read a comic book? Venom not speaking without Eric Foreman's scrawny face poking out is a bad thing, not some deep character development point.

what I wouldn't give to see a 'american warewolf in london' type change.
that would be ACE it would also scar the kiddies memories for life :woot:

:whatever:

You're missing THE point I'm making. The fact is, venom was rightfully portrayed more as an alien creature in sm3 and in doing so, he made the sounds and noises of a creature as opposed to taunting spidey and threatening to eat his brains.
The same should ho for the lizard. I don't want some man-sized dinosaur-looking creature speaking or struggling to speak english. He's a growling, snarling monster and growling and snarling is what he should be doing. It's more of a credible and logical approach, which I'm expecting.

Well, there I agree with you. I'd prefer a non-speaking Lizard (although Doc Conners' speech becoming broken and incomprehensible in the final stages before his full-blown transformation would be cool.)

The thing about Venom, though, is that the symbiote bonds with its host, which gives it access to all of that person's knowledge, including language. In essence, their minds become combined, so even though the symbiote's impulses and desires polute the human mind, the creature that comes about isn't some snarling, mindless beast. In the comics, Venom is more than capable of speaking in English without exposing Brock's face, the only reason they did it that way in the movie was to give Topher Grace more screen time.

lol this debate is senseless.

The Lizard should not speak of course, apart from hissing and roaring, it would make him way too corny if he'd speak!

As for Venom, the thing is completely different with him, his brain doesn't become that of a prehistorical creature lol, he should definetly talk with the Symbiote on etc. Unlike it happened in SM3. And with a gory alien-like voice, not a fking sissy irritating voice!

That being said, I want Lizard to be highly threatning and fearsome, I want a freaking MONSTER! They better go with the PG-13 to extreme this time, I don't want to see another child movie like it happened in 2007!
