We'll, that's marketing for you. If you have two actors in a film and one is a huge mega-star and the other is a relative unknown, can you really fault them for putting Depp's name first? To be honest, I have clue who Armie Hammer is or what movies he's done.

Same here. Who in the heck is Armie Hammer, and what kind of a damn name is Armie?

starring in ficnher's social network and j edgar with dicaprio really you dont know who he is?

I've known of him since his role in the second season of Reaper (god I miss that show) and when he was rumored to play batman in George Miller's failed Justice League movie. He's actually pretty damn good, I even enjoyed him in mirror, mirror (granted I didn't hate that movie like a lot of people on here did).

Eisenberg, Garfield and Timberlake were the stars in Social and J. Edgar was DiCaprio's flick. Hammer just isn't well known yet.

Hammer played the twins. He was a far bigger deal in the Social Network then anyone other then Eisenberg.

Personally, I know Hammer as being the Devil's Son.

Ask people out on the street who was in Social Network and I bet more of them will name Justin Timberlake than will name Armie Hammer.

He's also the great grandson of Armand Hammer the inventor of Arm and Hammer

That is because people know who Justin Timberlake is in general. Ask them if they remember the twins from the Social Network and you will get an acknowledgment.

They are the basis for arc of the film.

The opening voiceover is about the train and controlling space/time?

Gore Verbinski directed Rango which was a brilliant spoof of spaghetti westerns. And he is doing Round 2 with Lone Ranger. People are so quick to dismiss this film that they're ignoring the MAJOR reference to Sergio Leone's Once Upon a Time in the West. That movie was about the bad guys controlling the railroads. And what's the plot of this film? Oh, right. It's the same exact plot. OUATITW also had a storyline about the villains trying to take over some land because it had a water-well and trains could stop to refuel. Now, I doubt Lone Ranger will re-use the water plot since Verbinski already used it in Rango. But I could see the use of LAND being part of the story. That's how Tonto might get involved. The villains might try to steal Indian land so the train could pass through it.

Yeah, of course they'll remember the twins but will they know the name of the actor who played them? That's the question.

That was a pretty lame teaser. Maybe I'll get excited when they bring better stuff to the table.

Armie's full name is Armand, named after his great grandfather.

He's also the great grandson of Armand Hammer the inventor of Arm and Hammer

I thought so too, but he actually didn't.

I'd a very bland response to the trailer. The visuals were nice and gave a great sense of scope, but the narrative and obvious Tonto perspective didn't really do anything for me. A shame as I particularly like the Lone Ranger mythology. Maybe some of the later promotion will yield something interesting of the name character.

Hell, who knew who Hemsworth was before Thor? I'm sure Aussies knew him from before, but everywhere else...like they just plucked his ass outta obscurity. If Ranger does well, Hammer will be getting all kinds of deals.

The only notable work he did out of Australia, pre-Thor was Star Trek... where he died in the first ten minutes.

Exactly. Plus I think Hammer is a better actor than Hemsworth.

Yeah, I'm a regular street person, and I would have to agree. I saw the Social Network, and the only ones that struck out to me was Eiesenberg, Timberlake and Rooney. I still don't know who this Armie Hammer is. And, I don't remember these twins, I was half ass watching the movie because it was that boring and uninteresting to me. Maybe if he was in a really great movie like Star Trek, I would have recognized him more, but alas, he's not.

Not enough Delorean in those train sequences...

Really? Armie had more screen time than Rooney. Infact 3/4 of the movie was about his and brothers lawsuit against zuckebberg

It's not just a name issue on the poster tonto and depp really is the main character of the film. Anyone who's been following the films summary for a while would know it.

The Lone ranger is more of a complimentary character despite the movie name itself.

I dunno, for a teaser its pretty solid. Certainly helps set the tone/stakes a bit.
