Ok, you have a point. What I mean is that they're looking less like a unit/team as far as the attire goes. Minor details would have been better for me such as designs in the bandanas, different belt and bandage designs, minor references to Japanese culture, and a something that brings out their personality. The look for Mikey is just a bit much though. As long as the turtles don't fight through the movie in a ton of unnecessary clothes, I'll be fine. Otherwise, it will seem like TMNT3 all over again.

I'm guessing the production team probably saw that fan art and was influenced by it. It's too similar to be a coincidence.
