The Hype's Aug/September fan art contest is up! The theme? VILLIANS!
here's a great chance to show off your art skills and creativity and a chance to win some prizes as well.

Well, you'll be happy to know I whipped this up just for this occasion. And if you can believe it, I did it all from scratch. No reference materials, or anything. This is all straight from my brain to the screen. I know, right. I call it "Loki and the Creeper Sun":

Why you stealing LootCrate themes CC? :cwink:

they're stealing mine. i have a list of potential contest themes so they must have gotten a copy of my list somehow

on that note, i'm totally up for some suggestions if anyone has any for future themes. i will add them to my list

How about Super people playing musical instruments or Comic characters bad poetry where for the art part they need to show them saying it. With as much angst as they can manage. :D

Here's a movie that everyone should watch because it's Russian and both movies in the series make about the same amount of sense as this clip.

Well, i'm really taking this tv shopping seriously i suppose lol.
i stopped in best buy the other day after work and looked at all the ones on display, and took pics of their label sheets so i could research them.
someone on blu-ray.com suggested i use rtings.com to read reviews and tests etc, so that's what i'm doing now.
i had 9 tvs on this sheet of paper (old school lol) and so far i've been able to cross off 4 of them, and have one as a high maybe. still have 2-3 more to look up on this sheet lol

LOL, you're really drawing this out, CC. Would've been one trip to Best Buy and done if it were me.

I bought a 40" RCA Smart TV when it was on sale in October. Never looked back. :o

i know :/
but i don't want just any old tv.

there are certain things that i want for sure like:
50, 55 or 60 inch screen
120hz or higher
at least 3 inputs
1080p or 4k resolution
and 3D is a maybe.

i'm glad i didn't impulse buy when i was at Best Buy because the top one on my list at the time ended up being at the bottom when i read the specs and reviews for it. it basically was one of the worst models for the things i wanted it to do most.

right now, i'm about 75% sure i'm going to get the Samsung JU7100

:up:This is how you make an informed decision. I do the same thing when I'm in the market for just about any expensive electronic device especially televisions. Tv's are an investment and good ones cost a pretty penny so it doesn't make much sense in rushing and buying the first one you come across.

thanks.
i'm fairly frugal (aka cheap) as it is lol and the last tv i got i had for 6 years. it was a christmas present but it was from one of those rent to own places, so in the end, it ended up costing like 2000. and that was in 2007

i know 4k is slowly trickling it's way into media, and i'm already off DVD and onto blurays. i have about 80 blus to every dvd i have lol. so i'm thinking that it might be worth it now to go ahead and upgrade to a 4k tv as the tech catches up and the prices are coming down.

at least i know for sure i'm getting it from Best Buy lol. i'll get at least 1% back via Ebates, and since it will be my first purchase on my BB card, i should get 10% (or was it 20%) back in rewards points. plus i'll still have the convenience of paying it monthly.

Here's my contribution to the just because movement.

All that shopping and I probably wouldn't even be able to tell the difference anyway. As long as the TV has a picture that looks good, has enough inputs for my devices and is the right price, I'd be happy. My current TV is a 1080p 52" Sony I got after a single trip to Best Buy that's lasted me 6 years now. Were there better TV's to buy? Probably, but this one hasn't given me any reason to regret my purchase yet. *shrug*

the last one i had, that it now 95% dead, is a Philips 50" DLP. i don't remember the model number and i don't know the specs lol

this is the tv i'm going to buy. they don't have any locally so it looks like i'll be having it delivered. i haven't pulled the trigger yet though. going to wait until after my busy weekend is over, and/or until i get back from my labor day vacation.
i won't be home much the rest of the month to really enjoy the tv, so i can hold onto my money for a while longer, and who knows, maybe the price will drop a little more by then. or at least a cool Labor Day sale would be nice
