The director is Kristian Levring, who is Danish. He loves westerns. In the late 1870's after a Danish/German war, many Danes migrated to America. Mads and his brother, Mikael Persbrandt (he played Beorn in the HOBBITT movies), have been building a new life when outlaws change everything. The outlaws didn't recon on dealing with a military man. Jeffrey Dean Morgan is the outlaw leader.
