The Mandalorian and Grogu

…. lol okay.

My brain refuses to believe this isn't a prank. :o

That… sounds suspicious.

SW might be making some unpopular moves in recent years, but we’re not quite in ****able Hutts territory.

Been there for a few years, acually.

If Rotta is back, I wonder if he's gunna go after Boba. I mean Boba is currently chillin in his dad's palace. But then again Jabba's cousins the Twins seemed to be fine with Boba taking over, and they did give him not only a Rancor but Danny Trejo.

I do hope we get to finally see the Mythosaur...

He better (for once) ditch that cowboy hat :funny:

Oh it's just a voice over character. :p
If true, hope his voice is completely unrecognizable, or it will instantly take me out of the movie.
Have no idea who or what Embo is? Or heard of Rotta the Hutt?

Edit:
Apparently another outrageous Filoni contrivance.
This hat mojo is ridiculous :funny: Almost as bad as his helicopter-sabers.

I don't know about this, It's really sinking in Mando ended S2.
With Grogu safely delivered to the still positive hopeful Luke ( not the Disney version, worst Jedi, failed POS coward who caused his entire academy to get killed, and forced Grogu an ultimatum between Jedi or family, something he himself refused to chose between).
Maybe for a sec implying he actually manages to pas on what he learned and train a next gen of Jedi.
With Grogu supposedly safe, Mando settled back with that hot spotchka chick and finally allowed her to remove his helmet.
That's where it should have ended.

I think Favreau really had a conclusive end, delivering Grogu to that Luke.
Grogu merch had Disney corporate demanding more, and team Favroni have been phoning it and stretching it thin since.
What else can they squeeze out of this? . ...Apparently a movie, with a guy who throws his hat and uses it like a shield and snowboard.

The End.

See, I still think that Favreau, willingly or not, was setting up a pretty great continuation/escalation/sequel idea to the original “Din becomes Grogu’s dad while trying to complete a quest to untie him with the Jedi” with the end of Season 2 and The Return of the Mandalorian in The Book of Boba Fett, with a lot of “Din must try to become the King Arthur of Mandalorians, or find the King Arthur of the Mandalorians, in some Highlander-esque ‘There can be only one!’ weekly challenge” ideas suggested, and a lot of obvious ways that Din even just interacting with diverse variations of Mandalorians in the canon - and getting some problematic history revealed to him… - would make it even better.

But it’s hard to see that Return of the Mandalorian episode of TBOBF as serving much purpose with its emphasis and set-ups for what we actually got in Season 3; Season 2 and Season 3’s finale made a pretty firm implication that it was The Children of the Watch who were obsessed with the Darksaber instead of how it was Bo’s people in Season 3, the quest for the Waters of Mandalore sure sounded like it was set-up to last a while and that Mandalore would be more than just sort of abandoned rubble, and even the general exposition-heavy nature of the episode seems at odds with how little exposition and lore-work Favreau actually did in Season 3 as a whole.

I still think the weird irony we have here is that Favreau, either influenced by Filoni or while improvising ideas for a while, introduced an idea for Din that required greater stakes, greater depth of exploration, larger character arcs, and more antagonistic , exactly the sort of stuff multiple seasons or even a movie would require… and eventually blanched at the idea, causing a delay in the third season’s production and cancelling several ideas because he didn’t want to do it anymore, and was trying to ruthlessly reinstall the simplistic formula he preferred.

Maybe Favreau was stylistically obsessed with not fleshing Din out, or with not making him dynamic; his comment on how Din “couldn’t” become Mandalore seems to fit this. Maybe he didn’t like the idea of looking critically at the Children of the Watch given the way he created them to somewhat mimic the Jewish Diaspora without thinking through how their traits would play in the larger context of Mandalorian history, even though his own previous role as Pre Vizsla had seem strong fascist connotations. Maybe he didn’t like how Bo Katan probably wouldn’t look that cool if her past were reckoned with her informed her character arc on the show. Maybe he just got overwhelmed by the sheer scale of canon material he might be expected to address if he actually tries dealing with The New Mandalorians, The Protectors, the Imperial Super-Commandos (who he pretty clearly used substitutes for in Season 3), or the various Houses and Clans.

Or maybe he just got bored with the idea, and finds adventure of the week stories more fun.

Either way, the irony is that he dumped movie-scale ideas for TV-scale ideas almost exclusively… right before being handed a movie to make.

…Which for the record, I think could still use *some* elements he abandoned if he wanted to (even just having him confronted by the Death Wtach’s dark side might make Din’s story much more powerful), but he’d have to want to do that, and I don’t think he does.

I am just catching up on the first 3 seasons via 4K. Shame season 3 is a step down from the previous 2 as it definitely looks the most cinematic season of the 3.
