The Mandalorian The Mandalorian: General Thread

So I saw the footage on YouTube, and I gotta say I'm significantly hyped. Jon Fat does good work so I think the odds are good we have a hit. It's a good compromise to making a Boba Fett movie as well. Lord only knows how that would turn out, always seemed risky to me. But making a new character from the same culture is far better I think.

Now...if we can just get a Black Series toy of the Mandalorian.

That's where I am about that discussion. Clearly everything not Movie/TV Show was "erased" when Disney took over. That's why for all the people saying Boba Fett is/was overhyped and the others who say how awesome he's supposed to be, this really should've been the middle ground to prove everyone right or wrong, depending on what side you were originally on.

And if this show is really as badass as its clearly looking to be, if the final reveal is that he IS in fact Boba Fett with amnesia or something the whole time, how does that take anything away from a guy who literally had a few lines and less than 5 min in the entire OT unless you just dislike him that much.

And I want a Black Series, HyperReal, SH Figuarts, and Hot Toys of the Mandalorian if we're gonna wish it into existence:funny: I'll even take a Helmet while I'm at it.

There's no way he can be an amnesiac Boba Fett, since he doesn't look like Temuera Morrison, Pedro Pascal that is. Unless he's retconned into being Jango, but that's going down the rabbit hole.

This Mando has NOTHING to do with Boba and Jango. People need to let go of that fantasy.

Agree ^ Pedro Pascal doesn't look like , and maybe more importantly doesn't sound anything like Temuera Morrison. There is no way there is some lame reveal it's amnesiac Fett.
This is absolutely a different character, and Favreu made that clear from the go.
"After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges...."

Not sure how anyone is left still clinging to this is Fett?

That said if they want to intro at some point some bandaged horribly scarred up amnesiac wandering the desert, I'd be fine with that.:funny:

As to why people of Favreau's generation became so obsessed with Fett/ the Mandalorian, besides his obvious bad ass look and role. It's cause (and unless you were there that gen and time seeing it in the actual movies you will never understand this) ESB wasn't a closed ending film, it ended on a cliff hanger, with till then the most bad ass, cocky character Solo, being hauled off by a total mysterious stranger you knew little to nothing about.
So who the frak was that guy? ...became the topic of discussion and fueled imagination for the next three years.

You couldn't pop in the next DVD, or even video tape, or read the novel, or the comic or look on wiki, or anything, and find out what happened to Solo, or get the story on this character, anywhere.
You had to wait 3 years. And what did every kid do in those 3 years, they projected and imagined every wicked, awesome scenario and narrative they could dream up onto this character.
For those three years this character belonged to the audience, to every kid's imagination, an absolute open universe of possibilities, for this blank slate character.

Those who come to the character after ROTJ, after everything was said and done, and are like I don't get it, he did nothing, and he gets knocked in the hole and dies, what's the fascination?
And that's just it, they will never get it, because they never had those three years, where he pretty much did and was anything you could imagine. The character was already much greater than anything in ROTJ.

This show is for thos people tapping into that gap, . this is Favreau's three years imagining with a blank-slate Mandalorian.
You don't need it to be Fett (if you do you are looking at it all wrong) . you need him to be a blank slate.
That is who he is.

Coming from the only guy who was 1000% positive Pedro wouldn't be at the panel when everybody else was sure, I can't trust anything you say:funny:

Look, I don't think it's Fett either, buuuuut.....why are they so adamant about not sharing his name yet when they've shared everybody else's if they've got nothing to hide? Or the fact that from all of images they shared in the panel yesterday, there were a bunch of homages and images from previous Boba Fett art? And just looking at Jon and Dave's faces when they were talking yesterday, you can see them trying not to spill a big secret. Nobody finds that kind of odd? Coincidences like that rarely happen is all I'm saying.

I was to busy scrutinizing that GONK walking along side him to notice.
LOL ...begin ambulate sexy strut and gait analyses comparison...

With so freakin much to take in and enjoy, people instead to chose to fixate on the weirdest sh*t! LOL! :p

Meanwhile that new full chrome armor:wow: :hrt:

Haha! It's not really a complaint though, just an observation :cwink: Maybe that's how the actor normally moves, I wouldn't know.

Anyway, between everything they told us and showed us I am beyond hyped for this. The biggest issue for me is that Disney+ seems to be USA only at first so I'm gonna have to wait even longer before being able to watch it.

Perhaps in the series his name is unknown to most, he's simply the Mandalorian.

It is what it is and I’m sure it’ll all be revealed in time. We’re all just having fun in here while we wait for more info. Can’t wait for all the toy pics to start leaking though.

What I don't get is why they kept the trailer exclusive to the convention. When do they intend to start rolling out the marketing?

We'll get a trailer soon enough. I don't know why folks get so wound up about this stuff?! There's been leaks of the footage, so it's been easily accessible.

I’d say this is a pretty big buzz they made. They can ride this for a bit.

The show doesn't launch until November. They don't have to show the trailer right away. They might wait until D23.

Also, another reason I believe this is not Boba Fett. Jon Favreau said in the sizzle reel this is a character we've never met before. Plus it's Pedro Pascal's voice and not a Temeura Morrison, New Zealander type of voice.

So unless Favreau is deliberately lying to mislead the audience, I don't think it's Boba Fett.

There was artwork in the sizzle reel for a Jawa sandcrawler. Does that mean they are going to Tattooine? Are there Jawas outside of Tattooine?

Obi Wan disguised as Rako Hardeen kinda changes everything though so it wouldn’t be unprecedented. I’m not trying to fight anybody’s arguments, just merely coming up with plausible scenarios.

So I had no idea there was a second batch of footage. Here I've been watching the behind the scenes stuff thinking that was it.

Wow. Never knew you were such a rude arrogant person.

I do think it’d be awesome if we never get his name ala Clint Eastwood in The Man with no Name. But in today’s and and age where everything has to be spoonfed to people, I’m doubtful Disney will be able to help themselves.

Given they are just calling him "The Mandalorian", I alm 100% certain now he will have a name, but as soon as you hear it... I believe he is a new character, but his last name is something immediatly known, be it Fett, Visla, Ren... Fans will immediately know the name. Just like I won't be surprised in carinos character is someway related to Kanan.

Tatooine IS one of the planets they visit, Moisture Collectors....

I believe Gina's name is Cara Dune, not to be confused with Kanan's "Caleb Dume".

But you may be on to something with The Mando's last name being Vizsla or something. I always thought Bo Katan and Pre Vizsla having an offspring could've been a nice side story for a comic or something. And with Jon Favreau and Filoni's strong connection to that character already, it's not exactly a far fetched theory either.
