I think I just noticed something that could work against Mcnamara getting the role (If she auditions), comparing pictures of her & Tom she looks A LOT older than him even though she's 19. Am I the only one who noticed this?

That's why I've said that Hollywood tends to go younger with their actresses compared to the men. If they want to have these last through several films, they don't want MJ to be looking considerably older by film 2 or 3.

They need someone who is young looking, kind of how AnnaSophia Robb is a young-looking 21 year old, at least when she has straight hair. When she's got her Carrie Diaries hair, that makes her look older. Not saying it has to be her, because 21 is obviously older than 19, but I'm talking about how she looks young for her age. When she made Soul Surfer, she would've been the perfect age for MJ.

When she was younger, Peyton List #1 (not #2) would've made a good MJ:

She's too old for the part now.

I like Skyler Samuels for Sally Avril and I think she has very youthful look too.

Yeah, AnnaSophia has more of a girly, pixie quality about her, whereas McNamara is starting to look more like a grown woman.

Even Emma Watson looks too old as a love interest for Daniel Radcliffe now, even though they started off in the same franchise at around the same age.

I would've loved Willa as MJ, as she is kind of how I would imagine MJ and has the right kind of hair to dye redder and right skin and look. But she's already tied to Arrow and she's about 23 or 24 now. She could've worked with Dylan O'Brien.

I think they should go for a Peyton List #1/ Willa Holland type though with those sorts of facial features.

Here are a few suggestions who I think would make decent MJs:

- Olivia Crocicchia
- Kaitlyn Dever
- McKaley Miller

All of them have youthful looks that match Holland, all of them are age-appropriate, and all of them are pretty decent in the acting department (Namely Dever In Spectacular Now)

Miller would be my choice. She has the slightly exotic look yet still has the warmth that MJ needs.

That is a issue folks may be younger but loon okder. Or are older and look younger. Makeup could fix that. But the question is what is the direction marvel wants out of any character. If a person looks a little older they may be fine with it. We don't know. As long as they don't look 35 playing 15.

Agree with this.

I like Odeya but she's not who I would want going off of how MJ looks in the comics, she looks kinda foreign, which is not how I think MJ should look.

Odeya Rush looks like someone who would be a character if there were a Spider-Man TV show where she'd appear in one episode where Peter decides to date a foreign exchange student. But then she has to go back home at the end but promises she will always remember him, and Peter now feels a bit more confident to approach girls at his school.

And it's not just the eye colour that makes her look foreign. Even with blue eyes, the rest of her looks kind of eastern european.
