Just to get it straight, Obama said he voted 95% of the time with Bush last year.

He might have, I don't know. I do know that he has voted with his party 88.3% of the time in this Congress.

http://projects.washingtonpost.com/congress/members/m000303/

Now concidering that his party has voted with Bush on just about everything and he has voted with his party 88.3% of the time just in this Congress alone, I think that counts as voting with Bush.

So much for being a "Maverick". :whatever:

He is a "maverick" compared to Obama.

Obama has been rated the most liberal member of the Senate, yet he claims to be a "uniter." He believes he can reach across party aisles, when it is obvious that McCain has a record of doing so more often.

And thank you for that link. Much appreciated.

Thank you for gracing us with your completely sensible and insightful rant.

Knives, act like an adult please.

Anytime my friend.....now i can't stop calling people this.

I'd rather be referred to as someone's "friend" than as a member of a group who "get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations."

So i'll just add you to the ignore list, cuase if your the token republican on here who still thinks Bush is doing a heck of a job, I truly don't care about anything you have to say. I've had 8 years worth of crap and it is beyond defense at this point.. See you later my friend.

I think we're all more than capable of respectfully disagreeing.

To a point. 8 flippin years of Bush crap, and its gotten worse and worse and worse. I simply cannot stomach him(Bush) or the 28% of "people" who defend him and swear he's doing a great job! I'm done. He goes to my ignore list.

A Republican is a registered member of the Republican party. I am an Independent, but thank you for your interest in my political affiliation.

Thanks for adding me to your Ignore list. It boosts my ego, which is nearly as large as it needs to be.

And thanks for considering me your "friend."

And it's "you're."

You're not alone in your sentiments Knives. Alot of people cannot wait to turn the page on this eight year mess. (Myself included.) It honestly does blow my mind that there are some (whom will remain anonymus because I am referring to that 20something percent in general) that still support him and defend him.

I guess that can be said though of anyone. Despite how bad a person does, there will always be those who support them. Same goes for anyone who does something right, there will always be those who find fault. It definately takes all kinds to make the world go round. That is for sure!

If I'm not already on your Ignore list, then as compared to Bush's approval rating, how do you defend that of the Democratically-controlled Congress?

I'm fairly sure that its been mentioned several times in this forum - I know I've said it - A slim majority cannot get anything accomplished when the minority still holds enough seats to filibuster. Not to mention that if anything does get passed, the President can and will use a veto.

Unless you have a rubber stamp Congress, like Bush had before the 2006 elections, very little will get done.

Indeed! but after 8 years, and seeing every single screw up this man has done, and now this year the economy finally went to hell too. That was like the last of the last. I just can't debate Bush anymore. He is such an iunequivocal failure, i'm just exhausted by him. So I don't even find the worth of debating about him or listening to people attempt to sell me on what a great job he's doing. Even the republicans know he's screwed everything up, to the point where he brings down the entire party along with him. It's insane!

Knives, take a few days off and when you come back perhaps you can learn to be more respectful of the opinions of others.

I definately have a hard time understanding those who still support and defend him. But it's like I said, it takes all kinds to make the world go round. Bush isn't on the ballot this time. He cannot run anymore. His term limit is done. The page will be turned one way or another in this election. We're just going to have to wait and see which direction that page turns.

Ummm I don't know where you are getting your info but no one has ever called Obama a "maverick". That is strictly McCain's lie... I mean line.

Plus, Bush is the only one who called himself a "uniter" and we all know how well that worked out.

McCain is anything but a maverick. Like I showed before he has voted with his party and Bush 88.3% of the time in this Democratically-controlled Congress all the while he's been running for president. Who knows how often he voted with Bush and the Republicans when they ran the show with a rubber stamp for Bush.

He stands with Bush on the war in Iraq.

He stands with Bush on the economy and Bush's tax cuts for the rich, Even though he says he knows very little about the economy.

He stands with Bush on social issues like gay marrage.

He even stands with Bush against the GI bill that would help the very people he claims to support.

If that's your definition of him being a "maverick reaching across party aisles" then I suggest you get a new dictionary because the facts of his record show otherwise.

And people wonder why I call him McBush.:whatever:
