We can't afford 4 to 8 more years of deadlock simply to get someone better in office. I've been doing extensive research on East Asia's economy to write my powerpoint lecture on it for next year. 4 to 8 more years of deadlock will put as far back as number 5 or even lower in the global economy. East Asia is blowing us away....Education CANNOT wait 4 to 8 years of deadlock, something has to be done NOW.....those 2 things are connected at the deepest level.

I know that this won't happen, and so far I haven't been real happy with the choices of people that either man has placed around them, but I would like to know their choices for their cabinet positions. That would go a long way.

#1 thing that has to happen though, with either president, and that is Pelosi has to go.

McCain may have had 20+ years in the Senate, but from the looks and sounds of it, he still has no idea how to run this country.

He's so out of touch with the mainstream it's embarassing.

Some would say that "mainstream America" is ignorant, and that could somewhat be true. But, when you look at the major polls on the issues. Obama is not in touch either.

Being a better public speaker than someone else has little to do with qualifications, wouldn't you agree?

I'm not even talking so much about being a better public speaker. I mean at this point during the General Election Obama downright appears to be more knowledgeable about stuff than McCain. I guess in some ways that does have to do with being a good speaker, but McCain's responses to everything of late honestly leaves me with the impression that he didn't learn a damn thing during his 20 years in the Senate, whereas Obama actually gives the appearance of knowing what he's talking about.

the way i see it....McCain's military and political history can't help him when he keeps agreeing with Bush on most of the issues. he might as well have Bush's history as well.

I do not believe we would see total deadlock under McCain. He has proven that he can work across party lines (which Obama has not proven). Hell, if it weren't for McCain and his 11th hour hail mary that took the nuclear option off of the table, the Democratic Minority would've had no tools with which to fight Bush (even if they didn't use them).

McCain backer says terrorist attack likely

(let the fear mongering begin...again)

Okay, now that is just, as you put it, fear mongering. But it is to be expected. McCain's supporters will use 9/11 to scare up votes and Obama supporters will use the notion of another Bush to scare up votes. Its only just starting, kiddies.

Yeah, I won't disagree with you there. But at the same time I don't think anyone can call McCain a stupid man. He is pandering to the far right, and for the life of me I cannot figure out why as it will not win him this election.

I find it interesting that McCain's advisors kept saying that Obama has to decry Clark's comments or he's not living up to his promise to change the political game and not focus on the negative. Don't these idiots know that Obama never said he wasn't going to call them on their BS and in fact pointing out their BS to the public IS part of his political strategy? Besides, everything Clark said was true; McCain's experience as a POW does NOT make him any more qualified to be President, not does being shot down in a plane. It doesn't not equate to commander experience. Clark is spot on, IMHO.

Uhm, what?!

Have you not heard of the "Lugar-Obama Initiative" and the "Coburn-Obama Transparency Act?" Obama has proven he can reach across party lines on multiple ocassions.

While I agree to a point, the Republican's scaring the american public with the threat of another terrorist attack far outweighs the Democrat's "scaring" the american public with the threat of more years of Bush.

The Far Right pull the strings to the GOP and they are the ones he obviously kow-tows to. His sucking up to them should be a ginormous warning sign to anyone paying attention because THAT is who he's going to cater to if he's elected.

Yeah, exactly. Saying "this guy will be as bad of a President as the last guy" does not come close to comparing to saying "hey, if you elect this guy you are going to die".

Completely agree with you, Kel. We really can't take four more years. I think it's unlikely, unless something dramatic happens, that Pelosi won't be in her spot for awhile, though.

The first comment in that blog just cracked me up and really summed it up pretty nicely:

Lieberman has become such a joke. He should just just change his party affiliation already. Part of me wonders if McCain was hoping having Lieberman as his unofficial spokeperson would win him some votes from Democrats. I think instead it's backfiring on Lieberman. Does anyone really even consider the guy a Democrat posing as an Independent anymore?

Lieberman is a joke. I have a very hard time believing that anyone could mistake his party affiliation. (Especially since he's in McCain's back pocket.)

Yeah, it's hard to fathom how he went from being Gore's VP candidate to where he is now. Just imagine that he was once Dems' choice to possibly succeeing Gore if they were elected to office.

I cringe at the thought.

Romney makes all the sense in the world for McCain, just like Clinton does for Obama. They also don't work for the same reasons.

Gore picking Lieberman only to distance himself from Clinton is a lot like McCain/Romney and Obama/Clinton tickets.

Lieberman in a weird way was a good balance to Gore's ticket.
