^Yeah, you'd think a guy whose claim to fame is being able to survive getting the snot knocked out of him and take it would be able to deal with innocuous comments like those made by Clark.

Romney makes all the sense in the world for McCain, just like Clinton does for Obama. They also don't work for the same reasons.

I think the difference is, Obama can find someone else to deliver what Clinton does to his ticket. At this point, McCain needs all the money he can get to compete with Obama's insane fundraising. Romney may be the only one who can deliver that.

The Democrats don't need him. (Especially after the fall election.) The Democratic majority is poised to expand and any influence Lieberman may have once had within the party will officially be gone.

But until then Lieberman is the most powerful man in the Senate. He can do whatever he wants and get it as he decides which side has the majority.

God, McCain's being such a little cry baby over Gen. Clark's statements. They just released like a five paragraph statement in regards to it this morning. After hearing the actual statement I fail to see what the big deal it is. It's certainly not worth the overreaction by McCain.

What if someone from the McCain camp said "Being black does not qualify you to be president?" I mean, I agree its stupid, this oversensitivity, but comeon, the double standard is ridiculous. Any time McCain or one of his supporters says anything slightly questionable, people freak out, but if Obama or one of his supporters say it, people shrug it off and complain about the media blowing it out of porportion.

Lieberman is a political hero of mine, it is rare to truly find a man not handcuffed by party politics.

Also, if McCain picks anyone but Romney it shows McCain is placing personal grudges over reason. This is barring, of course, some unexpected off the wall VP choice by Obama which requires McCain to respond.

The "Getting shot out of an air plane doesn't qualify you for President" is no more an issue than Charlie Black's comments. The latter was raked over the media's coals, so should this.

Being black doesn't qualify you to be President though. And most stuff is being blown out of proportion during this election. When the mud first started to be slung early in the primaries I admit I got a bit wrapped up in it, but as time goes on I'm starting to notice the only reason anyone really cares is because the media is making such a big deal out of it. CNN, MSNBC, and Fox News are starting to have the credibility of TMZ (well, not that Fox News ever did have credibility, mind you). I personally wish both sides would shut up about this stupid crap, and actually talk about, y'know, the country, and not this petty crap. But the media cares more about making it a horse race to increase their own ratings, then about the country.

What people seem to ignore is that Clark was directly asked about McCain's POW treatment in regards to his Presidential run.

If some interviewer said to a McCain supporter "I think Obama being black gives him good experience as Presidential candidate" and the McCain supporter responded "Being black does not qualify you to be President", I would not see anything wrong with that.

People completely ignore the context of the Clark interview.

this isn't really politically related, but one thing about McCain that i can't stand (which is common amongst older people) is the way he pronounces words with an 's' in them. whenever he makes the 's' sound he has that old people whistle thing going on. i know they can't help it but it's damn annoying.

not only that, but the comment was addressing his actions, not his race.
if the comment was "being white does not qualify McCain to be President" then Matt's argument would have validity.
it wasn't so it doesn't.
there has been talk by McCain's camp about experience and thus, this was bound to be brought up.

hey, have you guys already discussed the fact that McCain said that an "Obama Court" would basically be soft on crime and terrorism?

After hearing the actual response in context with the question - the controversy is even more stupid than I originally thought.

Clark simply repeated the words of the question asked.

I couldn't agree with you more Souv. I have been thinking the exact same thing!

And therein lies my failure at trying to understand why this is such a "controversy."

Gotta love campaign and media spin though! :whatever:

I'm sorry but I watched the whole thing Clark said and although I agree that it was really nothing like what the GOP is trying to make it out to be, I can still see where some in the GOP and Fox News would try to make it more than what it was.

Clark may have just been repeating the question like StorminNorman said but I think Clark could have been alittle more careful with his words. He's been around long enough to know that the GOP and Fox News will distort anything the Obama supporters say to make Obama look bad and this is a perfect example of them doing just that.

It's a shame that we've gotten to this point where Fox and the GOP can lie about anything Obama or his supporters says and get away with it but that's where we are.

The real shame is that there are still people out there that still believe anything the GOP and Fox says even after the past 7 years of proven lies from them.

What kills me is that McCain, In an attempt to defend himself from a non-existent attack on his service and patriotism, Brings out Bud Day, A man who really did attack and lied about John Kerry's service and patriotism in 04 with the swiftboat liers.:whatever:

This is not simply a story created by the GOP and Fox News - its a media sensation not isolated to one network, not unlike Black's comments.

True, CNN and MSNBC are going on and on about this story just like Fox but unlike Fox, Who is saying that it WAS an attack on McCain's service and patriotism, CNN and MSNBC are at least trying to show that it wasn't.

I haven't heard the reports from Fox being quite cut and dry - at least from anyone that wasn't labeled as a "Republican Strategist" or a "Conservative _______". No simple anchor has stated it as a blatant attack, not from what I have seen at least.

Did anyone see McCain on GMA the other morning lying once again about his knowledge of the economy?

[YT]QVVIw7oZEyk[/YT]

What kills me is that this isn't the first time he's tried to lie about this and he keeps getting busted for it.:whatever:

John McCain is losing in Montana, according to Rasmussen.

Montana.

One of the whitest states in the country.
