Batman '89 The Michael Keaton Appreciation Thread

Oh these pictures are bringing back such great memories. I may just watch both movies this week.

Am I the only one who thinks Keaton looks like Angelina Jolie?

Ive posted this pic before, but I love how badass Keaton looks as Batman, driving the car.

Its his transformation from wayne to batman that makes him so great there is almost no similaritys between them you would never think this guy was batman.

that's true. No actor has been changed by the suit as much as Keaton was. That's why Burton casted him. The "everyman" who needed the suit to be what he was

Indeed his Wayne never knew where he was, he was so shallow and bored like he never knew his purpose in life. His Batman on the other hand seemed very focused, confident, dark, frightening - he knew what his purpose was. He wasn't about to let anybody else suffer the same kind of fate he suffered as a child. Keaton did an amazing job distinguishing both personas.

I disagree, Bale played a much better Bruce than Keaton did IMO. With Keaton, at times I just wanted him to throw on the cape and cowl and get to fighting. I didn't feel that way about Bale; he really brought the character to life in every way possible, especially with the whole billionaire playboy angle.

(Can't wait to get flamed for that...)

The only thing you should be flamed for is baiting trouble like that. The next person I see saying something about waiting for the flames to come in will be reported. That only invites trouble.

You shouldn't care if you get flamed anyway. As long as you're expressing your opinion harmlessly, you have nothing to be flamed for.

Well when I wrote that I wasn't comparing the two, I was talking about Keaton's performance solely. I also believe that Bale was the best Bruce Wayne. I just happen to think that Keaton's Bruce was a very interesting and good take on that part of the character.

BTW fellas,

Mattel just got the license to make products based off the entire DC Library ... including past movies and animated series ... so we will eventually get movie toy lines based off the original Burton films.

That's quite a stretch. Just because they have it doesn't mean they will. There's no market for it except for the past-franchise-lovin' fanboys. Which, I might add, is not a big enough market.

And besides, chances are the figures would suck anyway. Mattel is terrible at toymaking.

I want a new series of TDKR toys. They need to cost bunches, and be sold at Spencer's Gifts. I want realistic joints on the Batman figure, too. If that manifested itself ... happy campers are we.
