The Most Polarizing Actors of All-Time

I admire Heath Ledger even more for reversing the "it boy" curse (aka the "orlando Bloom" Curse). He started out as a pretty boy and turned to more different, sometimes supporting roles to reinvent himself.
Had he only done the Joker in TDK, I would still probably regard him as one of the greatest actors ever (that performance was mind blowing imo), but then he also did the patriot, monster's ball, brokeback (he was also good in brother Grimm an otherwise bad film) and specially Candy and had time to show incredible range in his way too short career. Maybe less iconic but still much better than James Dean imo.

he was going on that Johnny Depp path right before Dark Knight, I would say. Post-Candy and then on.

Yup. Even Gilliam said that when he introduced Ledger to Depp, Depp could feel he was meeting someone special.
