The Most Visually Stunning Shots of 2012?

The floating casino and Shanghai skyscraper scenes in Skyfall were very nice.

Before effects Interesting that pretty much everything is the same except the source of the light. While I figured that something other than fire was used to light this scene, I had no idea that this is how it was done.

Some of the slowmotion gunshots in Dredd were astounding

I think Anderson really perfected his usual aesthetic with Moonrise Kingdom last year. The yellowish tone throughout the movie was rather pleasant.

That was an incredible fight sequence. Definitely my favorite shot in Skyfall, which had fantastic cinematography throughout. Deakins' coloring is absolutely perfect.

The woman in black had a few really well put together sequences involving creepy, twitching windup toys. Much of it was using a lot of classic horror film camera angles and editing but it was quite effective I'd say.

I'm actually very fond of this one. In other shots before and after this one there is a lot of coverage of hills in Scotland that I found to be stunning.

I really loved the photography during all the scenes in Skyfall.

How could I forget?!

When the elevator doors open in Cabin in the Woods!

Also the final shot!

Not to forget Skyfall, but it's been posted a butt-ton.

i didnt find anything special about the plane fight in TDKR.

Moonrise Kingdom had such awesome composition and design.

I guess it was more the scale. For many people, that was the first IMAX scene they had ever seen.

When Bane grabs the scientist and the plane falls down from around them it is a stunning site, especially due to the stuntwork.

Agree with many of the suggestions so far (love that fight scene in Skyfall, and the Master was just gorgeous :))

Life of Pi was my number one this year though, so here are some of my faves:

Also, as much as I was dissapointed with the film, it seems wrong not to mention Cloud Atlas:

if only the master wasn't about nothing...
great shots.

the problem with cloud atlas is similar to that of thors, great big matte paintings but actors only walk around in closed sets(in the future worlds anyways).

Lots of grandeur in TDKR but like begins, it's just that. If only the first appearance of bats was literally the first appearance and he really was the gangster of the century, instead, it's just a bunch of fancy toys and cool music...
I was pumped though.

I seemed to remember Hanks and Berry scrambling around Hawaii or some place, and 2 actors dodging bullet fire on a collapsible bridge. Not to mention the elderly shenanigans with the car.

Life of Pi is probably the most beautiful movie i've ever seen

Me too.
Most visually stunning shots of 2012. Two Words: Richard Parker.

Cloud Atlas, that damn scene with the assembly line that made those human servants. That scene is burned in my mind.

Those stunning New Zealand shots taken for the Hobbit movie were also beautiful.
