He was tricked into being racist. :o

To this day, my best pal can make me randomly laugh with tears in my eyes if he just yells out “MAKE ME FEEL GOOD!” like she did to get that Oscar.

Im cracking up as I type this.
Ah, memory unlocked! Maybe Halle's right. I guess balls aren't that bad when they're Monster's Balls, amirite?!

bowing-thank-you.gif

There's no way this was the reason why he was left go, right?

Oh wait I take it back this is probably one of the poses he did in those nudes he did for the interns.

Nah just the duo who did Batgirl. Yeah they're racist.

Oh right... them. Imagine being a racist and writing monologues for Charles Xavier. UGH.

Oh this is keeping me thoroughly entertained while waiting for my food delivery and then I'm gonna sit back and enjoy Tom Hardy in a serious movie for the first time in almost ten years because The Bikeriders is streaming on Peacock.

That sounds like an excellent plan. Might do the same but check out Furiosa finally.

I was gonna try and do Romulus today, but I'm gonna give myself some time to regroup and go Sunday. SOO many opinions on that one, I gotta judge for myself.

Did you get some Ipecac and Robitussin for your food poisoning?

When Spectacular put Peter in high school, it was a novelty because most adaptations through the Raimi films had him in college. Since then, they always want to revert him to high school. I don’t necessarily mind high school settings, but it is starting to get old.

Someone posted a Key & Peele skit on Threads and I wish I could post it about an ******* gay office coworker that describes the X97 situation. 🤣

So I saw Deadpool & Wolverine this week. I really enjoyed it, especially since I follow all the behind-the-scenes drama of these movies and so almost all of the jokes landed for me. That said, I had some issues with the… ummm… story. So much of the movie didn’t make any sense. For example…

Deadpool has apparently always been set in the 616 universe, according to the beginning of the movie. So that means that the X-Men movies have also been a part of this universe? Or maybe just Logan?

Speaking of Logan, why is Laura in the void? The others you can kind of brush off since they are characters who have been recast or never cast in Gambit’s case, but why would the TVA kidnap Laura after the events of Logan and put her in the void?

Wade has a tempad, which not only can transport you to different universes but also can take you back or forward in time. So why didn’t get just go back to the final battle in Logan and help him avoid getting killed?

Speaking of which, we’re supposed to believe that an entire universe will collapse because ONE guy whose last job was a limo driver got killed. Okay. But like… does that mean that for the universe to survive, Logan can NEVER die? I know he’s lived for centuries but old age will eventually get to him so when that happens, the entire universe goes with him?

Why did the TVA kidnap Wade in the first place? And they never considered that doing so might cause him to try and stop them?

I know we’re not supposed to think too much about the movie but for a movie with so many writers and contributors, you would think they would have taken a little more time to think some of this stuff through instead of going with “just don’t worry about it” approach.

A couple other minor critiques…

I enjoyed most of the cameos, especially Gambit lamenting how he never got to be in a movie and the moment where they outright mocked the MCU for not being able to get a new Blade movie off the ground. On the latter, it was great seeing Wesley Snipes back in the role, though some of his line delivery was… odd. I don’t remember what his first line was but I remember briefly thinking, “Wait… is he playing British Blade?” And honestly that would have been a hilarious joke. But then he said something else and I realized he wasn’t. lol

Cassandra having a bunch of old Marvel villains played by no-name actors seemed kind of unnecessary. Because half of them looked nothing like the actors who played them originally and that made it a little difficult to know who they all were. I don’t even realize Psylocke was in the movie until I watched a New Rockstars video afterwards recapping everything. They really all just felt like nameless henchmen so they probably should have just been that. As-is, it felt like they got a bunch of “superheroes” on Hollywood Boulevard to show up as extras.

You're spot on about the story not making much sense. I thought the same thing but at the same time I'll let it slide because it's not that type of movie. Poor excuse, I know, but Deadpool is maybe the only character who can get away with that. One answer I do have for you is:

Deadpool has apparently always been set in the 616 universe, according to the beginning of the movie. So that means that the X-Men movies have also been a part of this universe? Or maybe just Logan?

That confused me at first too but then I realized that Deadpool used Cable's time travel device to go to the 616 universe and meet with Happy.

That still doesn't explain Logan already being dead in Wade's universe since the events of "Logan" still haven't technically happened yet in the timeline but that's a whole other issue that we can add to the pile of confusing continuity errors of the Fox Universe. :o

Hmmm…

Was Cable’s time travel device able to allow you to travel to other timelines though? Well, I guess so, if we’re to believe that Wade actually traveled to whatever other universe XMO Wolverine takes place in and killed Barakapool. But I always just took that part of the ending of Deadpool 2 as a joke and not a “real” part of the story or whatever. But I guess it could make sense.

Anyway, yeah, I love how for decades, the FoX-Men universe just shrugged off continuity errors and no one really cared. Some aren’t that big of a deal but others, like how Angel is roughly the same age in the 1980s as he was in the mid-aughts are really awful, lol.

Apparently so.

Cable's Time-Travel Device was a device used by Cable to travel through time. It was later upgraded and allowed Deadpool to travel through the Multiverse.

Haha thanks. Now I remember him wearing it in that scene, so it does make sense. Okay, well, one plot hole solved!

Just finished watching both the Thunderbolts* and Kraven trailers...

Thunderbolts* looks cool, if somewhat generic and derivative. I'm getting a definite spy-thriller vibe, reminiscent of Winter Soldier and the recent Brave New World trailer. Having said that, I love me some David Harbour and it looks like Florence Pugh's Black Widow will be central to the plot, which is welcome. The trailer also suggests that Thunderbolts* will lack the gonzo, outlaw spirit of Gunn's Suicide Squad but, considering the box office failure of that latter film, it's hardly surprising that Marvel would want to go in a different direction...

Kraven, on the other hand, looks glorious and downright demented. I actually know people who are interested in seeing this in theatres and *gasp* I'm actually considering joining them! If I do, this will be the first Spider-Man adjacent Sony film I've watched theatrically. Who knew...

Now if you folks will kindly excuse me, I've got 20 pages of posts to get caught up on, just in this thread alone :p

Honestly despite my nostalgic love for Spiderman TAS, i dont need a revival series. BUT i would be more than happy and satisfied with a one episode guest starring role on Xmen 97 where we catch up to what this Peter had been up to.
