#1, it doesn't have to be 100% faithful. of course there are changes that would need to be made (like no talking animals)but it needs to be more faithful than it is. I've seen the script by Ben Ramsey, and if that is indeed what they are filming, it is HORRIBLE.
in my movie, Goku would NOT be an "awkward video-game geek high school kid who is too shy to talk to the girl he likes and is bullied". Piccolo would not "take his vengeance on the earth" by using ONE dragonball to cause big explosions. Bulma would not be a super-badass soldier who calls everyone a "****" or a "*****" every 5 seconds.
and thirdly, it wouldn't be set in the Dragonball Series. it'd be set in Dragon Ball Z, right at the beginning.
Prologue with a voice-over, talking about Goku landing on the planet, being raised by Gohan, meeting Bulma and searching for the Dragonballs.
leading up to the first live action. Goku Vs Piccolo Jr. in the World Martial Arts Tournament. This is the end of this particular fight. Goku wins, Piccolo leaves to train further in order to beat Goku.
Title Sequence here. Dragon Ball Z: The Saiyan Saga
flash forward 5 years, Goku returns to Kame house to introduce his son, Gohan to Roshi, Krillin and company. Here we meet the whole crew. Krillin, Bulma, Tien, Yamcha, Roshi, Chi-Chi, etc.
Raditz arrives, revealing Goku's heritage, and whupping on Goku a little bit.
Piccolo Arrives, seemingly to challenge Goku again, but instead decides to team up against Raditz. the duo barely wins thanks to sudden interference from Gohan, Goku dies in the process. It's revealed that Goku can be brought back to life via the Dragonballs. Raditz transmits this info to the other Saiyans through his communicator, and taunts Piccolo about it saying the other Saiyans will be there in 3 years. Piccolo kills Raditz and takes Gohan.
Goku is wished back to life with the dragonballs.
Training Montage! Piccolo trains Gohan. Krillin, Yamcha, and Tien train with Kami, the "Guardian of Earth" as well. Goku travels to the far end of the earth to train with King Kai. There he learns the Kaioken and the Spirit Bomb.
The Saiyans arrive and utterly demolish the city in which they land. Yamcha, and Tien meet them, while Bulma and Krillin round up the last of the Dragonballs.
Yamcha, and Tien struggle to contain Nappa. Yamcha dies.
Piccolo arrives with Gohan, and steps in. Nappa and Vegeta both recognize Piccolo as a Namekian, which shocks everyone else except Piccolo. Piccolo confirms this, then reveals that Kami is his twin, and is the one who created the Dragonballs on Earth, and that there were a set of Dragonballs on their home planet of Namek as well.
Piccolo gives Nappa all he can handle. and in a fit of rage, Nappa fires a ki blast at Gohan. Piccolo takes the blast for Gohan, and dies.
Goku rushes to the scene and finds Gohan standing up to Nappa and everyone else bandly injured. He confronts Nappa. Since his power level is Over 9000, he beats Nappa easily.
Vegeta kills Nappa ruthlessly.
and then it is on. Goku vs. Vegeta, round 1. They fight to a standstill, and Vegeta uses Oozaru to tip the scales, and nearly kills Goku. Krillin cuts off his tail, and Goku uses the last of his strength to summon a Spirit Bomb and gives it to Krillin. Krillin throws the spirit bomb at Vegeta and Vegeta is beaten. Krillin goes to kill him, and Goku tells him not to.
Vegeta crawls to his spaceship and leaves.
flash-forward a month or so. Goku is in the hospital recovering from his injuries, and the gang is mourning the losses suffered at the hands of the Saiyans. They discuss how Piccolo and Kami are linked, so that if one dies, the other dies as well, and for that reason the Dragonballs do not work anymore. It is mentioned that there are another set of Dragonballs on Piccolo/Kami's home planet, Namek. Bulma, Krillin, and Gohan resolve to travel there and find them and make everything right.
The Movie ends with a battered Vegeta arriving at Frieza's Warship to recuperate, and Frieza (off screen, voice only) giving the order for his Warship to fly to Namek, having heard Piccolo's comments regarding the Dragonballs there.
You telling me that they could not film what I've typed above?
no, it's not 100% faithful, but it is a LOT moreso than what they are filming now. the changes I've made here are not anywhere near as bad as what they are going with. I've taken out the "Otherworld" and everything to do with it, as I don't really think such a thing would work in Movie form, and therefore I've moved Goku's training with King Kai into the real world. that's really the biggest change I've made, and I think I'm alright with that, but could be convinced otherwise. oh and took Yajirobe out, because I think he's an utterly useless character.
everything else is minor changes that don't affect the tone of the movie, nor the depiction of the characters.
and just a note, I wrote this going off of memory, without going back and really studying the Saga in detail.
anyhow, there's my bright idea. where's yours?
