Comic Book Girl 19 dropping truth bombs! She gets it.

Sony and Paul really screwed the pooch, honestly. Now, I do believe some fans got a little too rabid, for sure. Yes, there are Misogyny out there...that being said, 9/10 remakes get crapped on. They should not have turned this movie into a act of "well, if you don't support it, clearly you hate women." Should've just trucked on, not pissed off almost all of the fans of the franchise....oh, and not treated Ivan Reitman like crap too. Amy Pascal is a total moron, glad she's gone.

Sony, Paul Feig, and the cast treated the "misogyny thing" to be the rule, and not the exception. To me, that was obviously to save face from the terrible marketing. The trailers were nothing short of cringeworthy.

Then, you get people like Melissa McCarthy calling the naysayers "middle-aged men who live in their mom's basement." Nope, that doesn't sound ignorant at all. Noooope. Pot, meet Kettle.

... And then there's Paul Feig, who's what? 50-something? Who has been using the phrase "haters" like some 15 year-old Kardashian? The cringe. Oh, the cringe.

The sad part? I've actually enjoyed Paul Feig's movies quite a lot over the years! I think Bridesmaids is hysterical, I liked The Heat, and I loved Spy. The way Feig has handled the whole thing makes him come across as a petulant wimp. Unfortunately I won't be able to unsee that for a long time.

She obviously suffers from "internalized misogyny" and is out for male attention.

/sarcasm

(PS- I think ComicBookGirl19 is neato. I love her channel.)

I really liked Mccarthy's comment about those living at home, because clearly all of us can get paid millions of dollars to play make pretend, and not have real jobs. :)

Rumors have it Wiig was very unhappy with the movie, and her performance shows. She did not give a rat's ass.

Right? Just goes to show how truly out-of-touch these Hollywood people can be. :funny:

Plus, some of those people may very well be "basement dwellers." Well ... At least none of THEM were in Tammy, Melissa. :oldrazz:

Didn't know all this stuff, thanks for the info.

GB should have been a blast which sets the BO on fire but it didn't happen and that's a huge bummer. I just hope this movie sets a precedent that old fan favorite franchises should only be revived to create an entertaining and improved product that fans as well as the GA cares about.

Sounds like unrealistic expectations to me. Comedies rarely do the kind of big opening weekend people think of with blockbusters (though with how the summer has been going, Ghostbusters has been above average in that regard).

I had a blast, and so did my audience. So, I think it succeeded in that department.

And need we forget poor James Rolfe being berated and treated like **** by SJWs just because he didn't wanna see the movie? And unlike some other users on here who are also still acting like *****ebags over Rolfe's video (not gonna name names in order to avoid getting into trouble), I can honestly say that I've seen Rolfe's vid and he was as polite and neutral about the movie as can be! He just got flack because Heaven forbid he's doesn't wanna see a movie he has no interest in!

However, as I said, I WILL throw Patton Oswalt under the bus because he did all this just because Feig was his buddy and his late wife had some kinda cameo in it. Dude, I know you're grieving, but THIS was not the best way to handle that at all!

Agreed on all counts.

I remember watching Jame Rolfe's video the day he posted it. I was SHOCKED to see the ridiculous amount of backlash the next day. James' video was one of the most chill I've seen about this movie. I was especially disgusted by the comments made about James' wife. Disgusting. All because he didn't want to post some click-bait review of a controversial movie.

Patton Oswalt lost so much respect from me. He got so worked up over the "nerdy men-children who are too tied to their old ways/nostalgia," yet didn't he do an ENTIRE stand-up bit about how he wanted to go back in time to kill George Lucas with a steam shovel to prevent the prequels from being made? :funny: What a putz. A hypocritical putz. I mean, I'm sorry he lost his wife and all (seriously, it really sucks and I genuinely feel bad for him about that; nobody deserves what he's going through this year), but he really should not have acted the way he did if he wanted to be taken seriously.

What did Patton say? I keep seeing him mentioned but with no backstory as to why.

Yeap, very hard to reach numbers, they either probably expected it would perform like MIB, or the budget got way out of control...

Or have the....er...pleasure of being related to Jenny Mccarthy.

Took a potshot at James. Considering Patton's looks and film career, clearly he has room to judge someone lol

It's like you people care more about what others have said about this movie than about the actual movie itself.

The whole movie, from concept, to execution, to marketing was a colossal ****show.

Except the movie is pretty decent.

It was awful

After reading the things feig's said about his upbringing, it seems like he has some deep-rooted issues regarding manhood. Seems like he really hates men. That probably plays into how he handled things.

Which is why reviewers today suck, too much make it all about themand less about the film. Go on youtube and its a race to see who can upload a review first.

I didn't expect much from the trailers, but this turned out to be really fun and I'd love to see a sequel. Some stuff didn't work; Holtzman jokes only landed about 60% of the time (but when they did land they landed hard), the ghost plot--and in particular the third act--weren't fully formed, and there were some boring spots. The characters, though, are really enjoyable, most of the jokes are funny, and the film has a pretty good understanding of what makes a Ghostbusters film.

It doesn't approach the heights of the classic original. I think the cast and crew here could have made a better movie--and I hope they'll get the chance to.

The tears of the internet grubs who whined about the all-female cast taste pretty sweet right now. I especially enjoy the complaints about how men were represented in the film. There really isn't any problem, but it's hilarious to hear people complain about that without a hint of irony. Gee, no one could ever know what it's like to have their gender poorly represented in film, right? No one could possibly understand how that makes men feel.

^ Pretty much my thoughts exactly. I hope they get a sequel. I think the problems with the film are that it relied too much on the original, that it was a crutch for the script writers.
