The whole movie, from concept, to execution, to marketing was a colossal ****show.
I disagree about the concept.
Can't agree or disagree about the execution yet, I need to watch it.

[BLACKOUT]I expect to agree with you, cause you are a fellow fan of one of the most fun 90s movies ever made.[/BLACKOUT]

Can't speak on the execution either but financially speaking this won't be as lucrative as they would've hoped.

Again, I'm not a fan of GB at all, but I was rooting for this one to succeed, especially given the spotlight on the all female cast. But it seems like they dropped the ball given what I've ascertained thus far & it's mundane start this past weekend.

Well, the Half in the Bag review is up on Red Letter Media. Pretty interesting listen so far.

Feig's original concept was ghost aliens, which he considered a billion dollar idea.

Saw it last night, it was simply meh.

It has some great interesting ideas but does very little with them. It weighs itself down with having the characters be constantly walking jokes and punchlines and developing very little. It wasn't terrible but it wasn't good either

Sadly far to many beat for beat scenes from the original for a man who was so desperate to separate the films fieg really seemed to want to recreate scenes and elements from the first

I appreciate them bringing up how poorly Feig and company treated the "trolls" compared to the way JJ and company did. As others have said in the last couple pages.

Well over a 100 posts of bickering and discussion barely even linked to the content of this actual film.

If people want to discuss the social issues surrounding Hollywood movies then make a thread for it, but leave this one to just discuss the actual film.

Plinkett and RLM can suck it. His reviews constantly get put out there as the be all, end all of reviews and have so many people convinced of his opinion rather than forming their own. Case in point, in a room of ten people, at least two of them will tell me I'm wrong for liking the Star wars prequels and ask me if I've seen the reviews. I tried watching them, and I just like them too much to care what an internet reviewer tells me. So I don't need this starting with Ghostbusters too.

I think if this was just a remake that was just gonna be its own thing then they may think twice about a sequel but because they wanna start this ghostbusters universe they are gonna feel they need to make a sequel because they need this to be successful so the doors can open for more ghostbusters related stuff because if you abandon this reboot you might aswell just abandon any hope of this universe having any confidence for success.

And i am actually completely against the idea of a universe because i think it will drag the concept into the ground, i mean we have a women team reboot, a cartoon coming soon set in the future and the new video game thats set in what a ghostbusting school is it? and this is only the starting point for this!

Even though i am kinda glad ghostbusters is still a thing... i don't think i like this idea.

IMO, I rather see a series of CGI animated movies set in the THE REAL GHOSTBUSTERS/EXTREME GHOSTBUSTERS continuity. I have to be honest, I couldn't get into the original GB movie. It wasn't until I started watching and enjoying reruns of THE REAL GHOSTBUSTERS a few years later (after finally listening to my friends who told me that the show was really good) that I finally decided to watch the entire first GB movie, which I also enjoyed. I then paid to see the sequel in the theater when it was first released, which I did not like since GB 2 was basically a stupid rehash of the first GB movie. So IMO, both THE REAL GHOSTBUSTERS and (to a lesser extent) EXTREME GHOSTBUSTERS are a hell of a lot better then the original GB movie. Like the 90's GODZILLA animated series,MEN IN BLACK cartoon, and the ROUGHKNECKS:STARSHIP TROOPERS CGI animated TV series, THE REAL GHOSTBUSTERS is one of the rare times that an animated TV series that is based off of an original movie or a movie adaption of an existing property is far superior to the film version that it is either based off of or a continuation of.

It's good but it doesn't touch the original movie.

im watching more reviews and im wondering if im missing something every one is singing this films praises and it just didn't click with me. there was some decent stuff but over all it was just meh

a prime example i can think of is abbeys(i think) proton test. if the joke had been it just threw her back because of the kick and power than would have been fine but the constant continuing and balloon deflating aspect just killed it

I think Im more interested in trying dan akroydds vodka than seeing this movie now.

I love that once again they dissected why they hated the movie. Pretty much modern day siskel and ebert

Like all reviwers i agree and disagree with from movie to movie. I love the prequels and still found plinketts reviews fun. Its all in good fun and no different then a couple buds sitting around drinking and talking. I wish they were more consistent though on comic book movies.

so umm what happened to leslie jones twitter seem it went into full melt down

I havent seen the movie but most reviews are just saying it's fine or good. Not really high praise.
Besides I feel that comedy is the most subjective of the genres. For example, everyone hated the Vacation reboot last year, but I really enjoyed it.

I also forgot Lights Out comes out this weekend. Apparently that has a lot of buzz and while GB16 is a much much much lighter form of horror there might be a little crossover with the Lights Out horror audience

That's disgusting what Leslie Jones has been going through on Twitter. Like really, what f***ing year is it?!

Social media at this point is a hemroid on the modern day culture. Weve gotten so far away from what the original purpose was of social media.

You're never gonna win a fight like that. I hope she's alright, one of her last tweets was pretty heavy.

Humor is one of the most subjective things. I thought that scene was very funny. It's probably just that your sense of humor is different than the people that liked the movie.

Vacation was very funny. Then again I even liked Vegas Vacation, so I'm probably not the best judge.

People around me are seeing this. I don't care about RT and the reviews, I will NOT support unneeded reboots like this one and talentless actresses like McCarthy, so more of these garbage films can get made.

And Leslie Jones's screaming from the trailers, combined with her cringe-worthy attempts for joking... I can't sit through that.

All of you who go to see this, enjoy.

Hmm I could disagree on that, while I agree humour is subjective I mean one of my favourite comedy's is Young Frankenstein so it has a lot of dumb humour. You need to know when to end a joke which is what I feel this film had problems with

The previous mentioned scene could have been easily cut and still had the impact another would be the cat outta the bag rambling

It happens. Nothing wrong with not liking the movie.
