The New Ghostbusters - Part 10

He was fine as the moron though some of his scene ran a little too long.

Let me be rephrase that, then. I don't mind the idea of Hemsworth doing comedies but his character was nothing more than a vacant piece of meat who got nothing to do except act stupid and get possessed by another character. Hell, most of Hemsworth's acting later on in the movie isn't even for HIS character! He probably only had a ball on set because he somewhat got to play a villain for once. That'd be cool, too, if his character was MEANT to be a villain! And him playing the GB's secretary would've been fine had he not been portrayed as a moron! In short, he got robbed in more ways than one.

I feel you, man. Chris usually only takes on meaty roles that allow him to show his true acting chops, rather than simply make him look like a moron.

I was trying to ignore that example since that was just a cameo. This was a major supporting role. There's a difference.

You guys cut out the good part of the picture.

Chris Hemsworth's character is an excellent example of the irony surrounding this project that threw the word "sexist" around like it was going out of style.

So.....people are complaining that an ACTOR took an ACTING role that was different from his usual ACTING roles....as long as you forget that one other ACTING role where he ACTED pretty much the same......it's really sad when an ACTOR doesn't ACT the same part over and over forever and instead ACT in different ACTING roles...because not ACTING the same role over and over forever can confuse people when they see them ACTING in other ACTING roles.

Why the HELL did Chris Hemsworth even sign on for this mess if he knew he was gonna be made a fool of to his fans? As a Marvel Studios fan who enjoys his role as Thor I was insulted. Hell, he was far funnier in Cabin in the Woods, FFS!

I agree, I just can't believe that Chris Hemsworth didn't think of his Thor fans before taking this role.

Gay men everywhere were outraged at Heath Ledger's insensitive portrayal of homosexual cowboys in The Dark Knight Returns.

I thought it was likeable enough, that's the best way to describe it. Though as a disclaimer I did go into the film not caring about the gender swap, I mean I'm a fan of the originals, but by no means a superfan. But I'm still more than capable of calling a spade a spade.

As a story it's not anything special, and actually has a bizarre structure. However, the chemistry saves it for me. By the end they've built up a really nice friendship between Erin and Abby (just about got their names right) and it's something you don't see often in this kind of film. Jones and McKinnon were very good support while I found Hemsworth's character hit and miss.

I'm not sure I've seen enough though to compel me to the cinema for a sequel. I'll give it a geneeous 3/5.

Finally saw it. It was decent, but not as funny as Feig's other films. The jokes were really sparse :csad:.

Anyway, was it me or did it feel they cut some stuff from the middle? They seemed to be building up to an argument between Erin and Abby with Erin wanting the approval of her peers and being worried about her image, while Abby being comfortable just doing the science. After they were fake arrested, we see Erin in her hotel room or whatever separate from the others who are all together. And then when she shows up to fight the ghosts at the end, everyone was like "You're back!". Also, Erin tried to call the Ghostbusters on the landline when she figured out the bad guy's plan. Use your cell phone, damn it, it's 2016 :argh:.

i haven't seen the new one yet. The originals are some of my favorite movies and I watched the animated series religiously growing up. Enjoyed the Extreme Ghostbusters as well. I wasn't sure I wanted to see the new one , not because of it being all women . That's one of the appeals of the Ghostbusters is that it's everyday people saving the day. Men, Women, Older, Younger, Black, White , it just doesn't matter . My main complaint was them pretty much ignoring what came before . Venkman, Egon, Ray, and Winston should have played some part in it . I also understand that Bill Murray was part of the reason we never got the 3rd movie . Still I wanted a continuation of sorts instead of a straight up reboot . If they continue on with the series , as in maybe like a Ghostbusters International or something who would you guys like to see suit up as a Ghostbusters ? Who would make a good Ghostbusters?

This wasn't bad but it wasn't particularly good either. "Meh" is the feeling I had watching it. Oh well, at least I can watch the original film and Real Ghostbusters any time I want. Just do a CG animated film or something.

Either Ben Wishaw or Matt Smith in a quasi-Spengler role.

I've always thought Paul Rudd had the right kind of humor for Ghostbusters . Wouldn't mind seeing Donald Glover , Jake Johnson, Dule Hill, Anna Ferris , Zoey Deschnel ( not sure how she spells it). Just off the top of my head

Donald Glover, Paul Rudd - gold right there! I also like the idea of Terry Crews as the handyman/non believer 'just in it for a pay cheque', totally a winston of this era. Throw these into McCarthy and mcKinnon and we got a team.

I could see Rudd being this generations Venkman and Jake Johnson being the true believer / fanatic type character similar to Ray. After watching The Martian I'd love to see Glover play the genius with all the answers . He done really good in the smarter than smart type character in The Martian . McKinnon is a must keep she is amazing and hilarious . McCarthy is hit and miss for me really. Sometimes she is hilarious and sometimes she isn't , like she is trying to hard or something . Has anyone read about the comedy that Fox has picked up called Ghosted ? It's suppose to be a supernatural comedy similar to Ghostbusters

anybody pick it up today I did not get the digital one that came out a few weeks early so I have not seen this 'extended' version.

So I watched this last night and thought it was pretty decent. I still wish they had done a proper GB3, but this was alright for what it was.

Finally saw it as well. It just didn't really do anything for me. I appreciated they didn't do a rehash of Gozer and tried a new villain. But it was so flat. None of the characters had any real dimension except for McCarthy's character. Wiig was just annoying. McKinnon was funny but her entire character was just a one note schtick. Jones turned out better than the marketing had us believe, but I didn't get how one minute she wants to be a Ghostbuster and the next minute she's acting like the job was forced on her.

The cameos were awful, especially Murray's. And I'm not sure how the proton packs work. They just swing the ghosts around and destroy them? No need to trap them anymore?

And this is just because I live in NY, but it was obvious they didn't really film a lot of it here. In the original, the city felt as much a character in the movie as anyone else. I didn't get that feeling here as it was obvious it was shot somewhere else.
