still dont know why they couldnt have set in Chicago and have them buy a franchise, then all you need is a cheesy welcome to work video with winston and ray shown for a minute you know the whole hi and thanks for purchasing the ghostbusters franchise training video before one of the new girls switchs it off claiming to know better

you get you connection to the old crew, you dont drop the old movies, you get your cameo and you also get to establish that the new team dont need the old one and everyone is happy

I don't understand this attitude that something is being erased or wiped out. The original films and animated series still exist.

Are you really this new to fan properties and continuity

You understand this fine, you just have a different mindset and don't agree.

I feel at this point it's become about principle. Putting this in continuity would basically be like bending over and taking it in Feig's view.

The original Ghostbusters team was all male. Why is that okay but not an all female team?

Because it's cheesy. The 'progressive' 'political' side of the creation of this movie has overtaken any possibility for movie magic, for me at least..

I think it would have been cool to have female Ghostbusters on a team. Making them all female and then having Hemsworth be the eye candy complete with shirtless crap is so try-hard and corny that the studio already has lost my interest.

I'm def not paying for this and it's not because I'm mysogynist or want to suppress the XX persuasion.

I woulda loved it if Kristen Wiig was on the team but purposely moving so far to the other extreme is really cheesy. It makes me dislike the director on a personal level and I don't even know dude. His comments just rub me the wrong way. Like he's actively trying to be a White Knight, SJW cornball.

Politics ruined this movie already for me and many others. I don't generally take movies personally or get offended or turned off when ppl make racial, sexual, political ordeals about the production but I can safely say this feels that way for me. Fck this movie.

Doubt I even watch it on cable & I love the Ghostbusters

You're also forgetting that terrible PR stunt at a children's hospital. That was pure awkward.

The kids in the hospital were probably like, "who are they?" And the nurses were like, "shut up they're sorta famous."

Exactly, going after the movie has had a few trailers makes more sense.

They probably just thought the cleaners/janitors were goofing about

Real original :whatever:

I guess I do hate this project though, despite not being a hateful person

Yeah, but like Guard mentioned there have been rumors that future films may be connected in some way. But I'll beleive the whole shared universe when I see it. Sony likes to go crazy with that stuff and if Feig's film is awesome and the ideas conflict I doubt it would happen.

We have a similar opinion and view on this film. I agree with you.
I'm still waiting to see the trailer before I make my final judgment (I'm willing to try to like it, I want to like it, I LOVE The Ghostbusters) but its not looking good based on what I've seen and read and some of that you have mentioned. You will just have to accept that if you dislike this movie in any form what so ever you are going to be labeled a sexist pig. Its unfortunate, but its true. You cannot dislike anything in 2015 without being labeled sexist, racist, a hypocrite or just offending someone about it LOL Its sad, but its true!

It looks like they are using the original firehouse in the movie. If this is a reboot they should have came up with something else. If they want to use a lot of elements from the old movies this should just be in the same continuity.

Naw man, the firehouse is just a cameo. Ernie Hudson cameos as a real estate agent trying to sell it to them. They settle on a place above a Chinese restaurant instead.

Is this for real? Because that sounds awwwwwwwwful.

Oh, "Ghost Corps" finally got off the ground, the office is on the Sony lot. So it's officially official: we're getting more Ghostbusters projects:

Probably because all the tidbits have turned so many Ghostbusters fans away without even getting any real footage.

Despite this being an internet message board of intelligent, critical minds that love pop culture, I think most well adjusted human beings don't actively seek out stuff to hate, especially franchises that have brought the viewer much joy and good memories.

Some are drawn to the idea of being negative and fueling that identity but overall, most of us want to have fun with nostalgic properties and not have them be a disappointing reminder of what a pandering culture we all live in with forced messages of equality.

It wasn't even enough for these producers to have an all female staff, which isn't even the worst part (despite being pretty hollow and forced) they just had to throw in the 'big, buff good-looking guy is the secretary now!' nonsense.

I loved Janine the secretary, she had great screen presence and was unorthodoxly kinda attractive in her own right but she wasn't presented as some kind of sex symbol all the guys swooned over the way Chris Hemsworth presumably will be connoted with.

Write funny movies that have shades of what 80s/ 90s fans love.

Fck your nerdy politics, leave that **** at the Catalina wine mixer, homie

Just to clarify - is that a set? or office for production? Two ecto's?

The new Ghost Corps office looks snazzy. :)

And yeah, it's Ivan Reitman and Dan Aykroyd's new production company on the Sony lot, that's dedicated to expanding the franchise and producing new content (films, television, merchandise, etc.)

Hopefully, good things come out of it.
