I dislike sounding like 'one of those people' but this movie gives some ammo to those who feel like that on a radical level.

Instead of just planning a good movie and letting the chips fall where they may, it seems like a deliberate attempt to turn an iconic property into a feminist piece.

Shame. It's only going to hurt their own box office and turn their efforts into a wasted opportunity

The original Ghostbusters team was all male. Why is that okay but not an all female team?

Because some people are sexist and they don't even realize that they are. A lot of people who might believe that they have progressive views instantly believe that a Star Wars film starring a woman and a black guy is gimmicky, any genre film not starring a white male is gimmicky according to some people. Women should only be love interests or at best a supporting character who kicks butt, the same goes for non white males.

Those feelings are because Hollywood only gave us one point of view for decades and decades so it's an understandable reaction to a certain degree. It is going to take us a long time to even begin to correct the white male is the only lead idea.

Maybe you should think about the difference of creating an idea or concept and piggybacking off that already successful brand and established name.

Maybe then you will see the difference and why you being perplexed at people's perceptions is foolish

Just calling anybody who doesn't agree with it "racist" or "sexist" doesn't help, it only makes things worse and gives off a condescending holier-than-thou attitude that's really off-putting.
With that said, I have no dog in this particular fight. I just felt like I had to explain why some people are mad about this (from what I can tell).

I'm not familiar with her, but after seeing McKinnon in that SNL skit with Ryan Gosling, not only was she funny, but she's also a great actor. If this movie is a success, I see her going places. I don't see her being on SNL much longer given that talent.

Seeing right through an obvious ploy is not being sexist.
Furiousa is one of the best characters of the past few years.
I hate the idea of this movie in theory. Those two ideas wouldn't co-exist within a bonafide sexist.

The fact that so many people dislike this idea for the same reasons and the overwhelming sexist labels are funny because name another project where so many posters HERE (Not Twitter or anything) are unhappy about female leads or whatever hate-label you want attach for a specific group... It won't be in the droves that it seems to be for this.

Perhaps the idea is just overwhelmingly terrible. Genuine people see right through manufactured crap.

There was one good Ghostbusters movie 30 years ago, I really don't care about this film one way or another, if the trailer amuses me I might check it out.

Did they change the cast to all female as the new thing is to take white or male characters and race/gender change them? I dunno, but I think any all male cast would have had difficulty shaping up to the cult popularity of the original 4 so this way they avoid that.

If some are against the reboot because they believe it's blasphemy fine, I thought the same thing about Robocop being remade. My comments are directed towards people whining about an all female cast while never whining about the opposite. The thing I find odd is that whatever route they were going it would sting if you are a hardcore fan of Ghostbusters, Yet some seem like they'd be fine if they recast new guys to play the old characters which is a uphill battle to match the rose tinted childhood rooted view of the originals.

I mean I don't want to see them ever remake BTTF but I'm not sure it makes a difference if they sex change the lead as no guy is going to match up to MJF so might as well go for a whole new spin if they are intent on a remake.

The bottom line is the original remains untouched and as it was, so at the end of the day it's not a big deal.

I've said before that the only thing that would have royally pissed me off as a fan is if they recast the original roles with new actors. That would have been a recipe for disaster.

But, let's look at the movies he has had success with. See a trend? It is quite honestly where his "I just think women are funnier" line comes from. He has had TREMENDOUS success with female lead comedies. So, it really doesn't seem like some grand PC conspiracy here. It just one guy staying within his safe zone.
