If it's something plot oriented I doubt he would say anything or spoil. He's been pretty pissed at the leak photos giving away cameos. The Drew Pearce comments do contradict. Time will tell.

Yeah, the trailer should let us know soon enough. Though from what little I've read about the production it sounds like a reboot. Especially from this interview a year back

And then I thought, well, what if we just make it new? It’s not coming into the world that existed before. It’s always hard if the world has gone through this big ghost attack, how do you do it again? I wanted to come into our world where there’s talk of ghosts but they’re not really credible, and so what would happen in our world if this happened today?

I always saw it as they could treat it as people in the real world view UFO sightings and Area 51 in the real world. Some people would believe it, and others just think something else happened that wasn't extraterrestrial; or in Ghostbusters' case, supernatural.

Hell, in GB2, that was one of Venkman's defenses against the Mayor's smarmy aide, saying they must have forgotten about their busting in the first movie, and then the original 4 were silenced saying it was hysteria, something in the air, etc. all saying it wasn't real.

That's a possible angle, and the cameos from the original cast can be clever nods to that. We shall see soon I guess. With the posters dropping a trailer could be round the corner.

I thought the original cast members were to cameo? But they were playing different characters?

It's a revival if anything.

It's not re-imagining or re-inventing anything from the original, it's continuing the story of the Ghostbusters company from a different team in perspective and time.

It's not cutting out essential established characters, it's just not using them; partially because one of the original 4 has passed, and another has been difficult non-stop throughout the years to continue with the original 4. The other 2 have been open to a follow up story from the get go, and they got one in a video game, as well as the one who passed away.
You want to be mad about the original 4 characters not being used, the only person you're to be mad at is Bill Murray, and no one else. Not the studio, not the original actors, not the new actors. You are not getting what you want simply because of Bill Murray's attitude.

Where has it been said or reported that it's changing anything in the originals? Because I've seen nothing to suggest that idea at all.

And the less you quote uber-religious bigots, the better.

sorry mate, but this is a whole new ball gem and has nothing to do with the original.. from what we know.

Sorry, don't believe that. Don't really feel like anyone here knows that for sure.

The cameo's from the actors are all playing the original characters from 1 and 2?

Akroyd is playing Stantz
Murray Venkman etc?

I totally forgot about this movie! I dig the new look though.

I LOVE THE POSTERS.
There, I said it.

This character is brilliant, she looks great.. now pair her up and lead a team with Wiig or McCarthy and then a couple of Male busters, say... i dunno, Terry Crews, John Kransinski and Michael Pena as the louis Tully type comic relief and you're in the right direction, for me, personally.

They haven't officially stated it either way to my knowledge.. but it is very unlikely at this point that they are the original ghostbusters..

That was my first thought when I saw her with those glasses and that hair. But is she the Egon of this new team? She seems to have more of an edge to her than the uptight Egon Spengler.

it was aimed at Majik, who gives the impression they are! Im sure i read somewhere that they aren't.

Is it odd that I'm attracted to Kate McKinnon in this?

It means you have a thing for a gender-swapped Real Ghostbusters-style Egon.

the posters arnt bad but kinda generic of modern day design, in complete contrast to the tone of the film unless we're missing out on how dark it will be

thought to be fair it does remind me of the teasers for the bay turtles

I think this could be a fun movie. I haven't done research, so do please correct me if I'm wrong, but is it same-universe or a reboot?

The things I noticed are the outfits. In the originals, they were dressed like pest-control. In this one, they seemed to be dressed like community service people. Which could bring a lot of comic relief with just that.

Another nerdy film to add to the ranks of 2016. 2016 is full of movies that will most likely be good fun. Maybe not epic, but fun. And that's all I want.

7 comic books movies. And another with Blood Shot from Image? Ghostbusters. Underworld: Next Generation. Resident Evil: The Final Chapter. TMNT: Out of the Shadows. ...I know I'm forgetting others.

Yeah, I seem to recall reading that either Akryod or Murray was playing a cab driver.

Which is a shame, as they got them back, why not incorporate them as the originals. Have it so that something went on, a bit of animosity between the group maybe the government stepped in and put restrictions on them to not talk etc, to cover it up. They have all moved on, Murray the most in particular. But Ray and Winston are still on the case, working underground, training up one of their nieces when paranormal activity is heightened.

The climax could be the new team (all girls) struggling and then suddenly the familiar streams appear and boom the original team i there to help defeat the protagonist.

Sequel can then be it's own baby as the torch was past over.

Instead we have some alternate reality - which is fine - so long as it holds up to the spirit of the original.

I don't like that idea. You don't want to spend a whole movie establishing this new team is capable to bust ghosts only to be saved in the end by the team everyone wanted to really see. That would be like Creed training the whole movie and then in the last round Rocky steps in and wins the fight for him.

So Leslie Jones totally cemented why I'm so irked about her in this reboot.

McKinnon and Wig is reason why I'll give it a chance but everything I've read about it man I hate all of it why have some original cast members in the movie and playing other characters but not be part of the originals ?

anyway McKinnon and Wig I love those 2
