The New Ghostbusters - Part 7

Well, he does lock himself out of his apartment constantly.

That doesn't even come close to some of the idiotic stuff Hemsworth's character does in the Movie. Like leaving the lenses out of his glasses, because they kept getting dirty. So funny.

I think some of you are blinded by nostalgia/love about the old movies.

It's got nothing to do with nostalgia. Luis was a clumsy dork, who only approached the same level of stupidity as Hemsworth's character, when he got possessed by a Demon Dog.

If you trying to reboot a classic franchise, of course people are gonna remember the originals. "Blinded" has nothing to do with it, they knew what they were getting themselves into.

If they didn't, they sure know now.

Ghostbusters is still better than most movies today. If you are going to be bold enough to remake it with a new cast that has nothing to do with the original characters, you need to create something really good and really special.

Everything I've seen so far is lazy, obvious, uncreative and unimaginative, and in the case of Leslie Jones' character; outright awful.

Making an all-female Ghostbusters movie is a great idea. This is the most piss poor execution of said idea imaginable.

it's a good thing that Hemsworth has got Thor going for him

aside from Rush, the guy hasn't done anything else noteworthy and his role in Ghostbusters will be no different

Yeah, I'm sure Sony knew that they would not be able to meet unrealistic expectations.

That coffee gag with Hemsworth is the first thing here that's made me laugh.

Yeah, I'm sure Sony knew that they would not be able to meet unrealistic expectations.

Knowing how Amy Pascal thinks (thanks to the leaks), she probably thought this would be a hit, and could get by on name and concept only, since there isn't much else that resembles the original GB.

Yup! This! The marketing is terrible. I enjoyed the movie. It's not perfect, but it's enjoyable and quite funny. The marketing is making me retroactively hate myself for enjoying the movie, whereas this vignette reminded me of some of the funnier moments and the tone that I liked.

Ha ha. The marketing team is either completely inept (trailer, posters, featurette) or really in tune with how low of a bar they are setting for the demo they are targeting.
I get how people wouldn't like the featurette but within context to the movie as a whole, Hemsworth was one of the few bright spots for me. I usually loathe the lazy, typical dumb characters in movies and TV but Hemsworth worked in this probably just off of his charm alone.
And I can also back up what you say about Jones, she is bothersome in the trailer but those are her big loud moments (blame the marketing team again), she didn't bug me in the movie.

i think the best complaints about this movie will be when its out. i expect something like this
''my mom and sister didnt even like the movie. so what was the point of having female ghostbusters''

Here's the thing for me: I like the type of comedy Feig does. I really do. There are some funny bits here and there, I just don't feel like any of that fits with Ghostbusters.
If this was any other movie, I'd be very much interested. But it is building from an important movie in film history, the aim should be much higher than another Feig comedy, you know what I mean?.

Which is really the main issue. People were expecting something more along the lines of the original at least in tone and comedy. Instead it feels like it's being dumbed down, and that's just not playing well to alot of movie buffs and fans.

I think the trailer could have been more successful if they created some creepy atmosphere, had some suspense, cool action and not be so heavy on the loud yelling comedy at the end. Everything just looks pretty goofy and maybe that's cause they went with such a different aesthetic. Ghostsbuters 1 and 2 were never filmed like a comedy from a cinematography standpoint, and that played into the mood of the film.

HAHAHAHA, yeah I can totally hear something like that too!

Be careful now, you know that if you don't like this film or talk badly about it you will be labeled a sexist.:o:mnm:LOL

Well, they're bringing back Ecto Cooler in conjunction with the movie so there's that.

This is it exactly. Hopefully it is at least funnier than the trailers make it seem, but it really does feel like the bar could be higher.

That's been the whole problem from the beginning. They didn't have to base this on Ghostbusters. They could have just done an original comedy about paranormal investigators, a la Ghost Hunters/ Ghost Adventures, and completely avoided the comparisons to the 1984 movie.

But since they decided to remake Ghostbusters, everything is of course going to be compared to a movie that was basically a perfect storm of genius comic moviemaking. They couldn't win unless it was better than the original, but that was an impossible goal without talents like Bill Murray and Harold Ramis and Ivan Reitman on their team. So it was inevitable that this movie would suffer from the comparison, although I don't think it was expected that it would suffer this much.

I'll wait until reviews. Could be good or could be horrible. After being beat up by 'Terminator: Genysis' last year... I'm not too excited to experience something like that again with another classic series.

Yeah that's where I'm at. I really originally hated everything about this film. But after seeing the trailer I kinda chuckled a time or two and hearing the bits of the original theme did get my attention, but I admit it may be the nostalgia fooling me. So I'll wait and hear from friends that have similar tastes as me to decide if this is a theater, rental, or Netflix streaming kind of film.

Can't wait for this movie to bomb already and get it over with.

While it's wrong to wholly condemn non-awful product on the sole basis of its female leads, it's just as wrong to condone mediocre product on that same basis.

The character of Slimer however is reinvented as a clever Bugs Bunny type spook who is always smarter than the Ghostbusters themselves. There’s already talk of a spin-off film coming from Sony in 2019.

Now THIS - I can't wait to see!

I'm not that surprised by the reviews, for me it's the exact same reaction I had to the trailers. The girls didn't elicit any laughter from me, the saving grace was Chris Hemsworth. I don't understand the CGI complaints though - granted it looks cartoony, I like the ghost visualizations from the trailer (which I thought was the only saving grace in the domestic trailer). I find it interesting that, at least in NYC, the studio scrapped the domestic trailer for the international one.
