The New Ghostbusters - Part 7

Why can't I not think this movie looks good? Why do I have to "support" it because women deserve more female lead movies and this technically gives them one? That is what a majority of the "backlash against the backlash" is arguing, that you shouldn't rail against this movie because "its not for you" and "but a little girl might like it". Devin Faraci's takedown of Angry Video Game Nerd is pretty much that viewpoint.

ive heard his name come up a lot in topics like this who is he??

movie bob wrote a decent article abotu the whole avgn/gb thing and guess what he puts points across without screaming, ranting or lowering himself to insults

lets be honest for a second here, if we were getting this instead, people would be singing its praises

This just made me realize how much Paul Rudd and Seth Rogen look like Peter Venkman and Ray Stantza from the animated "Real Ghostbusters" show.

I wouldn't care for that male cast either^
Don't really want the Ghostbusters to be stoners fighting giant ***** demons

How the heck did a remake of a small budget ghost comedy become some Internet rally cry against social causes.

That's like a Weekend at Bernie remake becoming some kind of cause for outrage.

Ghostbusters: Stoners & Boners

Has a nice ring to it.
lol, it does have a nice flow
but no, that's not GB humor to me, same way cartoony puking ghosts and kate mckinnon's stupid faces aren't GB humor

Yeah, back when this was first announced, I remember thinking that I have no problem with an all-female Ghostbusters... it's just that I'm not crazy about THESE particular women in the cast. McCarthy grew on me after seeing Spy, but I've never liked Kristen Wiig, whose go-to acting method seems to be "stand here and look like you just smelled a fart". And the other two I don't find funny on SNL, so I'll be surprised if I like them here.

While the new trailer was cut better, it still didn't do anything for me. None of the gags and jokes were funny. Didn't even get a smirk from me. Still gonna pass.

Because social justice crusaders need something to be offended by. This movie is bringing out the worst in people from all sides. I was originally against this movie for simply being one remake too many, now I'm against this film because of the drama it's causing.

I liked the beginning of the second trailer, starting off creepy and horror movie like and then the guy talking tells the women ghostbusters he thinks they can handle it (and their reaction). That was probably the best and most inspired bit in the whole trailer.

The problem is everything else was either generic, obvious and lazy at best or outright awful at worst.

Why can't I not think this movie looks good? Why do I have to "support" it because women deserve more female lead movies and this technically gives them one? But what if I just don't think it looks very good? Am I allowed to say that without having to feel bad about it or having "soft sexism" assigned to me?

Why can't we talk about movies without it becoming a political culture war wedge issue?
First off, **** Faraci, I wouldn't take a thing he says with a grain of salt.

That said, you can have that opinion. Everyone can. Just ignore the Internet. You know deep down your reasoning, and if it's as simple as not liking it, then that's fine. That's why those idiots are called SJWs, it's a derogatory term because they crusade against the dumbest things.

Meh. I don't have any hate for this movie as some do, but nothing I've seen from it makes me want to watch it.

Same here.

I really couldn't care less about the social politics around this movie. I don't care if people want to see it or not.

For me there is nothing that really makes me want to rush out and see this film. Without the Ghostbusters brand legacy I feel like this movie would probably be another Pixels.

Welcome to Interneting/SJW-ing 2016!
And Devin is the absolute worst. I used to think he just said things to generate traffic but it goes beyond that in that he is just a f-cking d-ck.

Rob Bricken over at Gizmodo/io9 is also really f***in annoying with that stuff
every headline is "Amazing movie that you have to be sexist to hate just dropped another unbeatably awesome trailer!" or "Marvel sucks cuz white guys still exist!"

Looking at the newest trailers...they barely seemed like they were trying to tell jokes.

I thought the mass hysteria gag was funny.

Agreed. That's why I have been saying for a long time that once this movie comes out people will see that it was not at all worthy of the feminism vs. sexism argument that has everyone on both sides posturing and in a lather.

All of the drama surrounding this film has been exhausting and toxic. I'll see the film but man..

And it's gonna be seen now by a lot of people merely out of spite, and vice versa.

I keep seeing the Ghostbusters 2 comparison but I think that movie is genius level comedy compared to the **** I saw in the first trailer for this reboot. Ghostbusters 2 doesn't have Leslie Jones being a loud obnoxious black woman sterotype in it.

I have yet to see anyone defending this movie convey how the humor supposedly works or how it looks like its going to be a good movie. Its all about the leads being female and how important that is to them; the actual quality of the footage or what we know about the plot seems almost irrelevant to them.

And the sad part is I completely understand where they are coming from. That stems from just how bad Hollywood has treated women in terms of making movies that speak to them - that drivel like this is something they are willing to pretend to be excited about.

This is why I want more movies with female leads. Then maybe when we get more of them less of the crappy movies will be treated as precious.

Just banned a guy from BMD for saying the GHOSTBUSTERS trailer shows the movie is badly edited.
I hate him so much, but that's hilarious.

Yeah..It's a lot more complex topic, that steams prior to this remake. And also, I've mentioned this before, I have a theory that fanboys would complain less if the reboot had Emma Stone, Aubrey Plaza or the girls from Broad City....due to them being attractive and young.* Something that men don't have to deal with, And trust me I've seen comments about people wanting Emma Stone, for obvious reasons.

*BTW, Kate McKinnon is very attractive, along with Wiig.

The original members were not good looking (except for Ramis..maybe Hudson? But not conventiallly attractive like the Brat Pack kids).
