The New Ghostbusters - Part 8

International trailer had Japanese narrator saying "Ghostbastards". That's what this movie is, it seems.

its silly

straight up silly

if the movie comes out and its bad, ill be the first to raise my hand and say its bad

won't wish for it to fail, that's immature and just mean

It really is silly. I completely understand if something doesn't look good to someone. Everyone has different tastes. But to loathe something to the point of wanting it to fail? I just don't get it. Surely someone's time is more valuable than to waste ranting against something as inconsequential as a movie.

And, to your other post, I'm 33, alive during the original's release, but too young for theaters. I am excited for the 15th of July. I grew up with Ghostbusters and endured every GB3 rumor. Finally, Ghostbusters is back!

there is a dividing line im seeing

a lot of the vitriol seems to be coming from people who weren't even ALIVE when the original film was released, much less saw it in the theater

Im 37, saw the original, owned it on VHS, huge GB Fan

I have nothing but love for this, I dont understand how a movie that isnt even released yet has aggravated people so

Nah, I saw the original, owned it on VHS, DVD and now Blu-ray. HUGE GB fan, and I think this looks abysmal.

New Columbia Pictures Chief on International Push: "We Don't Just Make Movies for the U.S." (Exclusive)
"Given that Asia right now is almost 50 percent of the box office on big event titles, it would be foolish not to have Asia in mind,” says Sanford Panitch, who takes over the studio from Doug Belgrad.
Gregg Kilday said:
" Although he says he hasn't seen the new Ghostbusters (July 15), Panitch, who has two teenagers with his wife, interior designer Kristen Panitch, predicts big things: "It isn't a sequel, it's a reboot, so you have to look at it through a different filter, as something new. My kids have never seen the original Ghostbusters. They like [this cast], and they are really excited to see the movie."

makes sense

the big budget US spectacles make A TON of money overseas

if you call yourself a movie fan and don't understand how much the international BO is a part of things now, you're being willfully ignorant

I think Warcraft is about to be THE example soon.

Warcraft looks like HOT GARBAGE, and I have a feeling its going to make a metric f**kton overseas

Fall Out Boy is going to be much worse. I'm sure he'll just constantly repeat the same verse/chorus over and over again, followed by some "oooohs and aaaaaahs".

-who you gonna call, who you gonna call, who you gonna oh oh oh oh oh oh ohhhh ohhh

-who you gonna call, who you gonna call, who you gonna oh oh oh oh oh ohhhhh ohhhh oh

-who you gonna call oh oh ohhhhh oh oh oh ohhhhhhhhhh

-it has to be, it has to be, it has to be oh ohhhh oh oh oh ohhhh oh oh oh

-ghost, ghost, ghost, ghostbustersssss, oh oh ohhhhh oh oh ohhhhhh oh oh oh

<repeat the verse/chorus ad nauseam. try to look cool in your fedora>

That mannequin scene could be pretty creepy. I like it.

This was one of the few funny moments in the film, too bad they had to use it in the trailer though. And that's not a knock on this film, all comedies use some of the best material in the trailers and I get it but you better have more of where that came from when you get people in the theater. This film does not.

RE: Judd Apatow. I've been a fan of his for years but he has always said stupid sh-t but it was forgiven because he made funny movies. Well he doesn't make funny movies anymore. Everything since Knocked Up - This is 40, Funny People, Trainwreck - have been mediocre at best.
He wants to be a modern day Albert Brooks but he's not even close. His writing and directing particularly on This is 40 and Funny People detiorated so self indulgently that it's hard to see that he's the same guy who made 40 Year Old Virgin and Knocked Up, though the latter was probably made better by Rogen and Goldberg (who have also started to follow the Apatow trajectory) Trainwreck was written by Schumer and that contained a lot of jokes she had been doing, and perhaps stealing, for years.

Generally I like FOB and Missy Elliott but this does not sound too appealing.
I like the Bobby Brown GB2 song.

If you love constant mugging for the camera you are going to LOVE McKinnon in this, ugh

So you've seen the film I take it? Is it really that terrible?

Hadn't seen the new UK trailer online but had to sit through it when I went to see Warcraft. It just about raised a smile out of me once but its a shame they are rehashing so much from the first movie and not doing their own thing, its an impossible bar to live up to even just a little.

I did like some of the new bits I saw in the sneak peak that is after the original.

AllEights and I both saw the test screening. They didn't like it. I did like it. We both tend to agree on the major strengths and weaknesses of the film though, so that's good.

Patty's character profile will give people a much better idea of who she is, than the damn trailers that only show her most extreme moments. I'm pretty sure every single one of her screaming scenes have been in the trailers.
