The New Ghostbusters - Part 8

If this movie is taking place in a universe where the original characters didn't exist is it really a good idea to bring the old actors in to do walk on cameo appearances as other characters? If anything I am afraid those cameos might take me out of the story.
I think it's good.
I still want to see an Adam West cameo in a modern Batman movie.

Not sure anyone mentioned him, but I liked the inclusion of Slimer.
What made him popular enough to be the Ghostbusters ally in the cartoon? Never got anything of him from the old movies other than puking on Ray in the first film, and driving a bus taking Rick Moranis character to the museum in the second movie.

It's a great episode written by J. Michael Stranzynski

Real serious business.

:lmao:

I personally have not enjoyed much in the trailers outside of Wiig, Thor and the ghosts. I think the ghosts look amazing. So I have been turned off after being rather hyped after seeing "Spy". I feel like they have no idea how to advertise this, and it has shown. Maybe it is because the movie is horrible, or maybe they just don't know how to show its qualities. But as a Ghostbusters fan, I definitely would love to be surprised and have this turn out good.

Yeah, I haven’t been all that impressed by the trailers either. I loved Bridesmaids and Spy, I love the casting, and yes, the ghosts do look pretty cool.

But yeah, I’m still rooting for it, even though my expectations are low. The hysteria around it just nuts, though.

Well women are involved. So while plenty would be annoyed with a reboot anyways, you have the added energy of sexist *******s. Makes everything more nasty, more OTT.

Maybe there are some out there who feel that way... but it's a legit critique to say this movie appears to be a studio cash grab based on the ghostbuster brand. I have no problem with an all female cast if this is a total reboot which I guess it is... that said I think they could have gone with better actors.

I have no doubt plenty never wanted to see this no matter the cast. I personally would have preferred a sequel even with this cast, as I don't like the idea of acting like the original never exist.

But suddenly the internet is aflame with Ghostbusters fans who just happened to hate this movie like they are teenage girls finding out that Kristen Stewart cheated on Edward.

I don't really spend a whole lot of browsing the web for opinions on things... I rarely if ever bother to check out comments on youtube videos for my own sanity so you may be right.

But anecdotally from my small circle of friends those who have seen the trailer have not made an issue of the all female cast... just that the trailer itself does not shine a good light on the films potential.

I finally snagged myself a case from Amazon, they've been restocking every so often. But you need an amazon prime account (you can sign up for a free 30 day trial).

I respect Aykroyd for his passion to bring ghostbusters back but him posting that thing didn't make him seem like he was a creator seeing the film being like wow it was good and it surprised me, no he has been onboard with almost everything ghostbusters related just to get ghostbusters back, cinematic universes ect ect

way to crap on your own GB films Aykroyd :down

wonder how much Sony paid him to say that nonsense

I don't think any less of Dan Akryod for saying he liked this Ghosbusters movie. He's seen the movie and I haven't so he's in a better position to judge the film's quality than I am. I am not going to jump on him for expressing an opinion about a movie he's seen and I haven't.

I don't think any less of James Cameron for liking Terminator Genisis either, even if I completely disagree with his opinion on that movie's quality.

The difference between Ackroyd and Cameron is that Ackroyd is an exec producer and has a cameo. He's not allowed to say anything bad about it.

I watched Ivan Reitman fall out laughing more than once at the movie. It's flawed, but it's funny and I think it's very respectful of the original.

I didn't sit near the suits like you did but from what I remember of the screening it started off great, the theater was psyched and abuzz and then about midway through it all of that subsided due to the lack of big laughs, a dragging middle which seems to be a Feig flaw. The only other reactions I remember were the "oh look" over the cameos.
Yes is was flawed and think it was respectful, though a little to nostalgia, callback, fan service reliant, but I wouldn't call it a funny film though it did have some funny moments, lines.

People here I think have done a decent job of explaining what they dislike about the film rather than just throwing misogyny-bombs left and right

it does seem to be the case, though, that a lot of sexism is coming out in comment threads, again, not so much here on the Hype, but definitely on some other websites

and to be honest, it annoys the s**t out of me
The sexism is bad enough, but it pisses me off that people like myself-- with wholly non-vagina related reasons for hating the idea of this movie-- are lumped in with the "how are they gunna fit boobs under the uniform" crowd

Oh, and Judd Apatow can go f*** himself right in the ear.

edit: Just found out Fallout Boy and Missy Elliott will be collaborating to cover Ray Parker's GB Theme, and I really think I might vomit

Critics of 'Ghostbusters' Reboot Film are supporters of Donald Trump.

Yeah, he went THERE...

So now I'm seeing that anyone that rallies against the flick is apparently a Trump supporter. This thing has just spun out of control.

I'm actually sad that I was a fan of the original cause I don't want to grouped in with such idiots.
