From what I remember Sleepwalker could animate/distort objects with beams from his eyes and I think he turn immaterial.

My understanding of Namor's wings has always been that they don't necessarily provide the lift for his flight but rather provide the control. WIthout them he can't control how he flys therefore he doesn't fly.

I've got every appearance of Gideon (including the out of continuity ones).

He is a mutant with the ability to copy superpowers regardless of the sources (for the most part). As far as I know there are no limits that say how many powers he can use. He never used more than 6 at a time though. He can copy mutants, other types of superhumans and to some degree mechanical things. He's definitely not limited to mutants though because he copied Speedball and Nova who aren't mutants.

I personally think that he could copy aliens (though Guyverjay would argue the other way) though we don't have any clearcut evidence for it.

As to why it sometimes looks like it takes longer than others for him to copy powers, I chalk that up to the writers. In his New Warriors appearances, he duped their abilities almost instantaneously and had knowledge of how to use them that exceeded the Warriors. That's what I base his abilities on. His fight in New Warriors is the only time we actually seem him in a drawn out fight with multiple foes so it is a lot of what I base his abilities on.

I am sure though that his ability to dupe powers is somewhat based on his proximity to the person he is copying. After the intial copying, his ability to use the power decreases over time as he gets farther away from the person he copied. He does keep them for a while afterwards, the actual length isn't determined.

Thanks.

This is a very stupid question:

How strong is Juggernaut - and I ask this because he seems to vary in strength depending on who is writing him. However, I thought he was not a being which fluctuated in strength but one that had a very strong base/maximum level. If anybody knows I would be curious to read an answer.

Up there with Thor, who's picked up objects weighing millions upon millions of tons.

Thanks Mr. X - :)

So he is one of the most powerful. But is he always at that strength level?

By the way, the class 100 system does not sem to mean much and does not have much relevance because beyond that level, there seems to be characters at very different power levels such as one maybe being a class 200 and another a class 1,000,000. Have these classifications changed at all?

No problem.

We now have even more vauge a rating system. Like, class would would mean 850 LBS to 25 tons. Bleh. Class 100 simply means the person can pick up somewhere over 100 tons, could be 10,000 or a million.

Juggernaut was pretty much always that strong up until the whole Onslaught thing where he became for the most part seriously powered down. He was doing some pretty insane things even back in the early X-Men days...

I don't agree with what they've been listing Cap as recently (power grid rating of 3 in the Official Handbook to the Marvel Universe ). This would mean that he could only lift twice his body wieght (440-480 lbs.)
Really, he should be listed at level 4 (800 lbs - 25 ton range).
Wolverine is listed as such, and I always figured they were at about the same level. (the way I see it is Wolvie doesn't have superhuman strength, but he could plausibly hold up more weight because his bones would not crack under the strain.)
What do you guys think? Am I wrong?

Okay question relating to that, what's the most awesome display of strength Cap has accomplished in a comic? (616 or otherwise)

I know about a hundred of them, I remeber there was this Cap site with a bunch of impressive feats. I can't god damned remember now though. :(

I know he's judo thrown The Hulk around, who's a thousand some odd pounds.

And Terrax weighs almost 3,000 pounds.

I know he's been shackled to walls via steel shackles, and ripped free. He was tied to two Harleys once, around his arms. They were driving all out forwards and he stood up and ripped the people off their bikes, seats and all. Pretty much takes on three dozen people at a time, having them charging him. Him throwing them up over his head with one arm, slugging other people with the free arm. Insanley strong for a human...

.........beyond olympic strength at the least. Marvel needs to get their act together and research their characters abilities before putting it in stuff like the "official handbook".
Their were probably mistakes about other characters, but (obviously) the one about Cap's strength stuck out the most to me. ;)

A friend of mine at work (a "Cap hater" and "Wolvie Zombie") showed me his copy of the Avengers Handbook and basically said "I told you Cap ain't that strong, Wolverine could take him out in two seconds. He's the better fighter."
Wolvie's one of my favs as well (overused, tho'), but I hate that people jump to conclusions that he'll win any fight.(I guess popularity does that.)
My co-worker said that if I ask anybody "in-the-know" about Cap, they'd agree with him that, in his exact words, "Cap ain't nothin'!"

It doesn't bother me much when people put my favorite characters down. But it DOES bother me when they don't have the PROPER info to back bold statements up.
(I see him every day so it was bound to get to me sooner or later.)
In your educated opinion, what's your stances on the good Captain?
(sorry for the long post, but I needed to vent. thanx in advance for your patience.) :D

Which is why I said it isn't a very good example of strength which is what the poster was asking for.

No....she didn't have them at first.

I know. She used to just be able to turn invisible. I've read enough FF, trust me I know. Later on she could make force fields, turn other objects invisible, create designs, and so on.
