Getting strong Peter vibes as well:

Basically, if they go with him, there's no need to actual prep time. He has been doing all along. All Marvel and Sony need to do is make a costume that he can fit on. This kid is ready.
I'm kinda convinced that he already got the role.

I'd dare to say that he is the actual top contender, and not Asa. Asa would have to be REALLY REALLY REALLY great at his audition for this kid not getting it. The amount of effort that he already put himself through for this is obviously insane. I doubt that Marvel and Sony will be allowing to do most of the crazy stunt work that he has been doing, but the kid has been preparing himself for this for some time now, and I do think that it's matter of days.

Also, Asa is way too tiny and scrawny for me to buy him as Spider-Man. I wouldn't be as opposed to Asa as Spider-Man as it might seem given my posts (I think he could be decent), but he'd need to do some serious last minute work.

Yep, Tom is putting a lot of effort into getting this role. that shows dedication.

The announcement should be coming soon.

What serious last minute work? He has been literally doing that for months now. I don't think any other actor has ever been this physically prepared to play Spider-Man than him, to be honest. Not even Andrew Garfield. I actually think he can do a stellar work with Spider-Man, and I do think that's what Marvel and Sony is seeing it too. Prepping to play a role that you're already seeing yourself as it's easier, I believe. And I've heard that he is a good actor, will try to watch The Impossible now.

Warming to Holland quite a bit.Still hope Asa gets it but would be very happy if Tom gets it.Hes worked with some top-notch actors as well and as shown is a stuntman :)

If someone were to "get" New York Jewish humor, wouldn't that be Logan Lerman, who is Jewish, as opposed to Dylan, who is not? Or is Los Angeles Jewish humor different than New York?

Or Timothée Chalamet, who is Jewish and from New York.

Lerman is Jewish but doesn't have a trace of the Jewish humor. And Chalamet comes across as smug and condescending.

Eller Coltrane wears a Spider-Man shirt in Boyhood. Just wanted to say that. :cwink:

It probably doesn't mean anything. Geez, he also dresses up as Harry Potter and it didn't affect anything (unless he's will be cast as a supporting character in Fantastic Beast).

Rather the contrary. Lots of people don't want him.
Isaac has got five votes in the poll thread. That's a decent support considering that Holland has the same number and the winner (Asa) only twice as much.

It seems that most here weren't paying much attention to Holland, me included, when the shortlist was announced.

Now that it's been said he may be in the top two, we're all just finding out now that there aren't really any flaws in him playing Peter Parker. He may not have had a comedy role yet, but he has a certain charisma and confidence about himself which is hard to see in Asa and could be used to pull off the motormouth role that Feige wants. He can definitely do the dramatic and nerdy side of Peter too.

Props to you guys who have been supporting him since the shortlist came out. Meanwhile, I have a new favourite for the role :D

Very impressive. I was aware he had both gymnastic and ballet training. Really starting to hope he does get it. He is very well liked on set too with actors and crew getting on well with him in each movie he has done. I dont know if Marvel and Sony would let him do too many of his own stunts though.

The only thing he'd need is a convincing American/NY accent and a pair of glasses (for flashbacks/opening sequence) and he's gold.

Very impressive gymnastics from Tom.

Tom
Gymnastics
looks young 15-16
Right hair colour
Right eyes colour
Awesome performance in The Impossible
Has acted alongside Hemsworth

Asa
looks young 15-16
Has blockbuster experience
Has worked with special effects
Phenomenal performance in Kid in stripped Pyjamas
Great performance huge big budget movie Hugo
Great performance (to me) in big budget movie Ender's Game
Great performance in X+Y

It's a really touch call.

After watching those instagrams I am going to end up being kind of annoyed if he doesnt get the part now. Doubt if any other actor on that shortlist has those sort of skills. Do people think Marvel are aware of these instagrams which might have put him top of the shortlist?

Fighting and gymnastic skills as Peter Parker aren't a deal breaker to me. When Peter is out of costume I expect him to ACT (anything else is a bonus). IN costume Peter could be anybody.

I don't get how people are suggesting Holland is doing everything he can to get the role. How? How is he doing that?

I'll be okay with Tom (will not be okay if it's Asa), but Dylan is still by far the best choice.
