Speak for yourself, I just won't see the movie.

Ditto. If they get someone I just don't care for, then I will pass on the movies, pretty much like I did for the last Spider-Man movie. Granted, I did givt TASM 1 a chance, but just did not like the new guy, so never bothered with the second one. It's also why I am not too keen on Dylan O Brien. I was actually intrigued by The Maze Runner movie, and thought the lead guy in the trailer looked cute, so checked it out when it came on VOD, but he irritated the hell out of me, so it's why i am not keen on him being Spider-Man. I just don't like the dude. It happens, some actors just rub me the wrong way. I won't watch anything with Carey Mulligan in it cause I just can't stand the actress. And I have to grit my teeth when watching movies with Edward Norton, Emily Blunt or Marion Cotillard because I can't stand them either (although, I do think Cotillard was the best thing in Contagion)

for me there would be a few folks i wouldnt want to see get the role. Would it stop me from seeing the movie when it comes out. Probably not. Counts on how production shapes up and then trailers and all that. Like how everything i read on the new F4 being not what i want out of them. I dont plan to see the film in theaters at all. Spidey i would. Now sure there is folks i like to see get the role. If they dont i be a bit disapointed at. But i would hope i warm up to the pick who landed the role and then of course hope they are able to pull off the duality of the role as we fans want.

We need someone shorter than Evans. Because it just wouldn't be right to have a teengae Spider-Man(assuming he's teenage) taller than the sentinel of liberty.

Just watched The Maze Runner. Sorry, O'Brien doesn't hold to a candle to Asa with regards to acting. Also O'Brien looks in his 20's rather than a teen. Decent movie though.

I really liked Maze Runner, haven't seen anything with Asa in it yet so I can't really say anything. Maybe I'll watch some clips of him acting on youtube later.

Id say theyre on par if youre going him in Maze Runner and im going by him in Enders Game. Both just decent performances from decent material

Watch X+Y! he's brilliant in that movie.

Ya just seeing one performance out of anyone isn't the best way to judge them. One film they may be acting one way vs what we want to see out of a peter or spodey. And stuff like that. Even the best actors give or have lousy films under there belts.

But so do some of those Disney teens I mentioned the other day who are actually 17, 18, 19.

Asa - He's fine, though I'd be a bit skeptical on how he'd deliver as Spider-Man which I guess would give me more reason to wanna see it.

Dylan - :barf: That is all.

Logan - He's great, but much like Asa, I'd still be skeptical when it's time for the alter-ego.

Matteus - Eh, whatever.

Teo - See my response for Matteus.

Charlie - No idea how he'd do as Spidey, but no doubt he'd be a good Peter. :yay:

Vincent - :jd:

Freddie - See my response for Vincent.

Young, relatively unknown actor from Disney/Nick - :nrv:

Donald - I really don't know how I'd feel about it. On one hand, it'd be neat and unique. On the other hand, my inner fanboy would be going bananas.

Tobey - Um, alright.

Andrew - :woot: YESSSS.

Sam - Sure, why not? :oldrazz:

1. Asa Butterfield - im willing to give it a shot, but I get the feeling he'd pull an eric stoltz

2. Dylan O'Brien - I think he could revitalize the character. Id hope hed be marvels michael j fox (from my above BTTF comparison)

3. Logan Lerman - I used to want him for the role and I see no problem with him in it.. I agree with PBP though, that im not so sure his humor would be on point

4. Matteus Ward - blegh, dont wanna see this

6. Teo Halm - hes not great and I dont think he'd be the greatest incarnation of spidey.

7. Charlie Rowe -
giphy.gif

8. Vincent Martella - the dude from everybody hates chris? Seriously?

9. Freddie Higmore - pretty much the same as Asa. Doesnt particularly look like peter to me, I see Harry.

10. Any Young Male Actor From A Disney/Nick Show - why you do dis Disney? Marvel pls

11. Donald Glover - **** it, im down. I wanna see a hilarious spidey for once

-Bonus Round: The Unlikely Binch
1. Tobey Maguire Returns - would make the unmasking carry more weight (lets not forget GA loved him)
2. Andrew Garfield Returns - ok, thats fine. Its in good hands, and he can do better under Marvel
3. Sam Strike - who??

1. My only impression of his acting ability is based upon trailers for Ender's Game; based on that I would be disappointed but that's such a thin basis that I'd obviously be willing to have my mind changed.
2. I'd be quite happy. I had no idea who he was before the announcement that Spider-Man would be appearing in the MCU, but a video I watched made me think that he would be able to do the quippage properly, which I've only really liked when Josh Keaton has done it. I've since seen most of his work and I'm confident in his ability to do justice to the totality in way that I'm not for any of the other suggestions. If he isn't chosen, I would be hoping to be Heather Ledger'd.
3. I would be less happy, especially since the only movie I have seen him in (the first Percy Jackson film) left me with a lukewarm feeling about his ability to play a character that needs levity. But I do have confidence in his overall ability; I just imagine it would just feel a bit more dull to me. I see him and I am reminded of Maguire, which isn't a bad thing - it just means that he'll probably feel incomplete.
4. Who?
5. There is no 5.
6. Who?
7. Who?
8. Who?
9. I recently watched Seasons 1 and 2 of Bates Motel. While Vera Farmiga is easily the stand-out on that show, Freddie still holds his own. I'm not sure how I would react. On the one hand, he's clearly a very talented actor. He makes me forget that I'm watching him act at times. On the other hand, there are aspects of Spider-Man in particular - the physique (which nothing resembles so much as pre-serum Captain America) and the easy repartee (that nothing about his acting in the show or in interviews gives me the impression that he could pull off) - that I think are huge question marks. I think he'd be a great Parker, since he can clearly play an alternately creepy-but-sweet and awkward nerdy character, but nothing about him says Spider-Man to me.
10. Please don't.
11. I think he's too old, even if they were doing a Peter Parker who was in his post-graduate years. I'm also not convinced that he has the dramatic chops.

Bonus:

1. If Donald Glover is too old, Maguire clearly is.
2. I didn't like Garfield, but that was probably more due to the writing of his character (which I felt made Peter unsympathetic, unlikable, and not particularly bright; Gwen was much better) than it was due to his acting. But I feel that that ship has sailed.
3. I watched exactly one video of him - a scene of him coming out to his father on Eastenders, that was simply atrocious. I'd be shocked if they thought he was suitable for the role, whereas I could see at least the potential for any of the others to be chosen.

Why do people keep suggesting Glover? He's too old.

Even if they were going to cast Peter black, or use Miles instead, they STILL wouldn't cast him. Dylan O'Brien has better chances than him.

Hell, compared to Glover, O'Brien is a lock.

I dont think it was a serious suggestion. Its a pretty for sure thing he'd never get it

Of course it wasn't serious, just something to discuss. Glover could be the last actor on the planet and Kevin Feige would play the role himself before he let Glover be Spider-Man.

Also, there is no five. Um...crap. Let's throw Chandler Riggs in for #5. OP edited.

Asa-Maybe, I have to see his work
Dylan- Yes. Just yes.
Logan-He can work, I'm down.
Matteus,Chandler, & Teo-Eh, I'm not really down with this.
Charlie & Vincent- I'm fine, just needs a little more work.
Any Young Male Actor From A Disney/Nick-Welp, R.I.P Spidey & MCU. This movie's going to be a trainwreck.
Freddie-Wasted potential honestly. I see him more as Nova.
Donald-Ok, now I'm positively intruiged.

Bonus:
Tobey-Um...alright I guess?
Sam Strike-....Who?
Andrew-....YES, THANK GOD!

With chandler riggs, my reaction would be **** no, nothing against riggs personally but I will not pay to see this

How about Sprayberry? Let's add Sprayberry to my list.

1. I'd be 100% on board. one of the few teen actors mentioned here that could actually carry this franchise. And he's not as dry as Lerman, he could grow into the role.
2. I'd be 1000% on board, perfect in EVERY way, need I say more? :)
3. No thanks, too dry.
4. I'd be okay with him, he certainly looks the part, he seems pretty cool in his interviews.
5. No thank you, I have a hard time believing that he could carry a franchise as big as Spider-Man.
6. Yes! watch some of his vines, perfect humor for Spider-Man. and he's also a good actor in drama (see "15").
7. Another yes from me. looks like the SSM Peter jumped straight out of the TV, also he's good with drama (See Red Band Society) and he has the funny personality required for the role.
8. I'd be okay with him in the role. he looks like the spitting image of SSM Peter imo m
9. Seen him in Bates Motel and he feels more like Harry material imo.
10. :barf: (Farkle being the exception)
11. if only he was 20 years younger, he would have been a pretty good Peter Parker(if they decided to go in that direction), I'd also take him as Miles in a heartbeat! (If he was 20 years younger).
12. Too jock-ish, looks more like the bully picking on Peter, he'd be a better Flash.

-Bonus Round: The Unlikely Bunch:
1. I'm sure how I'd feel about that.. don't think I want Tobey back.
2. I'd lose 80% of my hype for this new movie.
3. No.

1. Asa Butterfield
I'll give it a shot. He looks the correct age and I can marginally imagine him as PP/Spidey. Not too impressed by his acting though... he gets praise not for his acting ability, but for his ability in relation to his age.

2. Dylan O'Brien
Yay! Obviously there will be problems with his age and all but I think he would do the character justice. Would be difficult to work around his schedule though.

3. Logan Lerman
No thanks. Guy's a good actor but won't be able to pull of the humorous/sarcastic side to the character. Will be way too 1-dimensional.

4. Matteus Ward
Initial disappointment, but will probably still be excited because I haven't seen him enough to judge whether he would be good. Appropriate age, seems to match the Spidey appearance to an extent. Problem would be acting.

5. Chandler Riggs
BOYCOTT. Riggs and Elgort are the only actors that would encourage me to boycott the film altogether. Horribly over-rated (both of them) and nothing like PP/Spidey AT ALL.

6. Teo Halm
I'm in. Definitely not the most prolific but I like what I've seen and he is the perfect age in regards to what they're going for. He's done stuff with Disney before so he's probably on the list.

7. Charlie Rowe
YAAASS!! My first pick. Really really think he would be a great PP. Good age (not too young but still within the age limits they are looking for) and good actor (Red Band Society is pretty good). Also think he looks like PP.

8. Vincent Martella
No thanks, too old.

9. Freddie Higmore
Better pick for Harry. Would be disappointed with him as Spidey. Decent actor though.

10. Nick Robinson
Happy! He's on a ABCFamily comedy show and seems a suitable age (maybe a bit over?). Good actor with experience in both comedy+drama so should be able to strike a good balance.

11. Donald Glover
WAYYY TOO OLD. And if it's going to be Glover, they should not do PP. I'm all for diversity but staying true to source material > forced diversity.

12. Dylan Sprayberry
Ambivalent. Wouldn't mind him but he was on Man of Steel... not going to happen.
