Homecoming The Next Spider-Man - Part 9

I'd like to reiterate that I am not asking for a bad actor. If an actor comes off of a Disney show and they are a bad actor of course I don't want that actor to play Spider-Man. On the other hand I don't want a good actor dismissed because they come from Disney's ****-up-a-kid sausage factory.

Im pretty sure this is how we all feel when we talk about that slew of actors.

I like this game, it seems fun, I'll have a try:

1. Asa Butterfield: YES!
2. Timothée Chalamet: YES!
3. Dylan O'Brien: Too old.
4. Logan Lerman: Too old.
5. Matteus Ward: Perhaps, I think it's too "bulky", but he has the right age.

6. Chandler Riggs: No.
7. Teo Halm Some: Don't think Marvel is aiming to cast the guy sniffing glue on his instagram.
8. Charlie Rowe: Perhaps, I've just seen him in Never Let Me Go, but I like the idea of him inheriting the role from Andrew Garfield.
9. Vincent Martella: Too old.
9. Freddie Higmore: Too old.
10. Any Young Male Actor From A Disney/Nick Show: If he delivers a killer audition and Marvel see it on him, why not? Earn the role.
11. Donald Glover: Too old
12. Dylan Sprayberry: Too bulked up.

-Bonus Round: The Unlikely Bunch
1. Tobey Maguire Returns: **** no.
2. Andrew Garfield Returns: The return of the rightful king, but no, I don't want him back because I want Marvel to build Peter Parker and his mythology from the ground up.
3. Sam Strike: No I don't want Leatherface playing Peter Parker, this is silly.

And from all those doubting that Asa Butterfield or a skinny kid can't pull it off the Spider-Man's look, I'll leave you with this cosplay picture of Spider-America:

Happy Easter, everyone! :woot:

It will be nice either waking up and seeing pick news when getting up. Or getting out of work and seeing it. Hopefully it's soon.

@Talion: I actually shared that Captain Spider-Man cosplay while back. As a joke of instead of the Iron Spider they did Captain Spider. But I can see a skinny Spider-Man. Anyone who's read Ultimate Spider-Man or seen Spectacular Spider-Man can see a skinny Spider-Man on screen. Hell Andrew was MUCH skinnier than Tobey and he pulled it off great.

Yes that's exactly like I'd hope Marvel would be aiming for if Asa is picked, he can literally get a cosplay kind of costume and would still look great.

Depending on whoever is picked. I can't wait to see the rage(there will be some sort of rage no matter who's picked).

"**** you Marvel! This is all Sony's fault. This dealnshould've never happened. I'm going to boycott the movie because you didn't pick X and Y! Here's a bunch of ******** rants about why you made a bad choice!"

I just love posts like that. XD

For me I just wish sony had sold rights back 100% so we wouldn't have to deal with sony at all.

Ok so give us some actors on disney right now that can actually act

I would say that most of them are required to act in a certain way because they're appealing to a much younger audience who might not get a more adult style of humour.

It's a bit like when you got these non-regular actors on Buffy. Everyone seemed to communicate in Whedon speak and would seem rather annoying. But then when you'd see some of these actors in a completely different show, they would act very differently and more serious and grown up.

I haven't seen enough performances from these Disney actors in a non-Disney setting to be able to judge their performances and how they would do otherwise.

Well right now we should just be greatful Spider-Man even has a place in the MCU. Unlike Fox characters who are on complete level 5 adamantium barrier lockdown.

Happy Easter, everyone! :woot:

Just imagine a Spider-Man with a physique like that lifting up a car...
You guys see what I was talking about when I said the USM eyes work best with the skinny/scrawny Spider-Man build? it looks right.

Ya we should be great full we get spidey in mcu. I fine with fox keeping xmen. They work alot better on there own. It's just again urrghhh fox keeping f4. They would be so much better to be in mcu then with fox.

For me I just wish sony had sold rights back 100% so we wouldn't have to deal with sony at all.
Casting wise, Sony hasn't really had any problems. All their issues start after the writing begins.

I agree there. Which is a reason I wouldn't want there knucklehead in ideas screwing things up. We are all aware that sony had no real clue or direction to take spidey.

1. Asa Butterfield At first I thought he would be horrible. After seeing more of him I have come to this conclusion: He would make a better Nerdy Peter than Andrew, but would make a worse Spider-Man than Maguire. I think his humor is a bit dry, but I now see he at least has some!

2. Dylan O'Brien He is my favorite of them all. The only thing that may make him a bad choice is his age, but he can play pp/spiderman as a 16 year old and can carry the role from there. He would make a great PP and an almost perfect spiderman! Better spidey than even Andrew, and better peter than Maguire.

3. Logan Lerman He may be able to play an ok peter, but he doesn't really have much humor. He would play a way worse spiderman than Maguire, but a better pp than Garfield. He might not play a better pp than Maguire.

4. Matteus Ward I don't know enough about him. He looks a bit too... popular? He looks like he would play PP like Andrew did, the popular kid who rolls into school on a skateboard. Again, I don't know much about him, I'm just going by looks and a couple of small clips I've seen on youtube. He is
16, which is better than choosing a 14 or 15 year old. The older the teen they are, the better. We don't want someone who looks like a kid interacting with avengers, they need to at least look like a teen.

5. Chandler Riggs Too young. He looks like hes 13. (ik he is 15, but he looks 13) I don't think anyone wants a youbng teen to be interacting with other heroes. This is not some disney channel cheesy tv show where a kid gets superpowers and saves the world while still being a kid, this is a teenager who is growing up, seeing he has to make good life decisions and realizing he needs to become an adult. (Even though he may be only around 16)

6. Teo Halm He is a better age. He is 16 like Matt. I have seen a lot more of ths kid, and am CONFIDENT he would make a better Parker than Maguire, and it seems like he may even be able to make a better Spider-man than Garfield. I personally think he would be the BEST young choice. He looks a little older than his age if anything, at least 17 I would say. He is my second fav choice, if they go with a younger teen spiderman and decide they MUST have a younger teen actor, he's my pick.

7. Charlie Rowe MAYBE. From what I have seen he has some humor. Not as much as Garfield, and not as much as some other canidates. Things I dislike about him: He has a british accent. We don't want a british spiderman, this is an american-city kid who was raised in an american city. I honestly would rather have someone with a thick NY accent. If he can do a good american accent for the role it might be ok, but then he would sound different normally and it may ruin the effect of his actor being spiderman.

8. Vincent Martella He looks like a jock. From what I've seen he wouldn't play a good PP or spiderman. He doesn't look like he could anyways. He's 22, so you might as well go with someone better at that age.

9. Freddie Higmore I have the same problem as I do with Rowe. He has an accent. I do feel that Freddie would be better for the role however. He again is in his 20's so we might as well pick someone else around his age who would do better.

10. Any Young Male Actor From A Disney/Nick Show As long as they would fit Peter and Spiderman well, I have no problem. However, no one should look exclusively for people on Disney or nick and it shouldn't increase the possibility of them being chosen.

11. Donald Glover Maybe a fan made but well funded spiderman film made on youtube. (When I say fan made and well funded, I mean similar to Video Game High School, made online, but good enough for netflix.) They would have to get rights to use spiderman to make money, which they wouldn't be able to. Thus it would have to be a free online series, which I would watch for kicks and giggles.

12. Dylan Sprayberry He played young Clark pretty well. I think he could pull off a PP as great as Maguire, but he doesn't seem to have much humor.

-Bonus Round: The Unlikely Binch
1. Tobey Maguire Returns He was a great start to the spidey on big screen, but too old now and he wasn't THAT great.

2. Andrew Garfield Returns He's a better age, they could easily make sure people understood that the old spidey universe is not connected to the MCU. He did NOT do a good PP AT ALL, but he did a GREAT spiderman. Especially compared to Toby.

3. Sam Strike Again, he has an accent. That aside he is older, so again, since he isn't the best choice it would be better for someone else in their 20s to be picked. He seems to have some humor, so he might be able to do an ok Spidey. However, he looks like the school bully. I don't think he could pull off the nerd/dork look.

I'm in my 30s and I have a guilty pleasure for Disney shows. Zac is pretty much the only person to come from Disney (not counting the girls) to have any sense of presence and acting her ability. You knew he was going to be special from the very beginning. It is unfortunate that he's type-casted but that's because he was so pretty. The rest if the Disney guys fade into the wall. They're not strong at all.

I would say that if he were young enough, Marvel could have cast Zac Effron as Peter. He would have had the charisma, acting ability and presence to carry a Spider-Man movie and be the face of the MCU, and also the star power, coming off the High School Musical movies.

He was just born at the wrong time and missed the boat, although I guess he was young enough at the time for the ASM movies and is actually the same age now as Garfield was when cast.

I always see people push aside his name as spiderman. I think he would be fine if he was younger too. If this reboot was happening right after HSM or possibly right before, he would probably be the right age. I agree that he has the right kind of attitude to play spiderman. Probably not as good as some others *cough*Dylan*cough* but probably better than Maguire. He would likely play a fairly good PP but I don't know if people can see him as a nerd after HSM.

Seriously, who the hell cares if the actor has an accent or not? that's why we have speech coaches in Hollywood.
If he's a good actor and right for the role, then give him the role, I couldn't care less if he has a accent..

Honestly, after watching Maze Runner I don't know what all the fuss is about with regards to O'Brian...
The clamour for O'Brien has to be looks based it can't be based on acting ability.
I've watched 2 seasons of Teen Wolf. I know better than that. I haven't seen Maze Runner yet, but plan to tomorrow. It is a more serious movie, so I don't expect Dylan to play AS funny of a character. I honestly doubt that it would be a good idea for that character to be funny anyways, not in a serious movie like MR. He may not be as experienced as others, but I assure you, he is Spider-Man on and off set. He is Peter Parker on set of Teen Wolf for sure.
Maze Runner seems to at least be a half decent movie, and since he is the main character I would expect that since it has become as popular as it has that Dylan would have had to play the role at the very least well. (Well as seen by the majority.)

I bet Zac will end up some day in mcu. If it's soon I could see something like namor.

What I mean is that goes against them at least some. They will be seen as a british kid unless they use an american accent. Peter is not british, and neither is spiderman. If they do use an american accent I don't think it's really a problem. It doesn't bother me too much, but I would much rather have a Peter who is american like he always has been.

People were speculating whether he would be Daredevil before it was known that Charlie Cox had been cast. He would've been a bit young for the part though. I can't remember why there was the speculation. Was he seen with some comics or having a meeting with someone?
