Asa would at least be a believable geek, and he's quite likable too. I have no idea of his acting range though

Ya I doubt any one over 25 would be picked. 16 on low end and 24 at the highest end. And if they did go older like I said before glasses hair styles cloths can hide true age. Plus they would also as I pointed out would have at least 3 mcu films and 2 solo films out before they even get to 28 29 yrs old. And then we would be past teen yrs anyway. So late 20s then playing early to mid 20s isn't bad at all.

I would even say max age 20. Really don't think Marvel will go beyond 20. We know that they're looking at 15-18.

Dylan ain't happening guys!! Wake up!! (though I'd gladly be proven wrong)

Really we don't know for sure what they been looking at. As others have said yes we know they want character young. Doesn't mean actor pick would be young. It's better to have a wider range to look at then limiting your choices down cause they may be 2 or 3 yrs older then you like. Really casting likely is or was 16 to 24 yrs old. So they could find guys they like in a couple different age brackets. Like a few picks between 16 to 18. And a few picks from 19 to 24 range. Then widdle down from there. But we really have no real clue on how casting is or was going.

Which is why I hope who ever is picked and if director is announced along side. We get some insights on how casting went. Like if it is a young pick see if there was a age cap or not. Or if it was older why older pick was picked over a younger pick.

Heck all the names we have heard either been just actors who expressed interest for the role. Or a name like ward who may or may not have tested. Really the only semi official names ever mentioned by the trades where logan and dylan who are currently 23. No others names have been mentioned in trades.

Not that I want either as Spider-Man but how is a 31 year old Donald Glover being considered for Spider-Man but Jaden Smith (who is 16 year old) is not ?

Oooo! This seems fun!

1. Asa Butterfield
Cool, I'm actually really warming up to him. A lot of people seem to like him. He's 18. I wouldn't mind.

2. Dylan O'Brien
I actually screamed "NO" loud enough to worry my roommate when I missed the word "rumor" in a thread title on another forum.

3. Logan Lerman
Ennhhh... sure. Could be worse.

4. Matteus Ward
Not pleased.

5. - 8.
Sure, whatever.

9. Freddie Higmore
Nice.

10. Any Young Male Actor From A Disney/Nick Show
Probably question, "Why God, why?"

11. Donald Glover
Odd choice, but sure.

12. Dylan Sprayberry - Scream obscenities and possibly never see any movie he's in. I barely put up with him on Teen Wolf. Teen Wolf. And that show is 80% not good. I can't imagine trying to put up with him in a Marvel or Sony movie.

-Bonus Round: The Unlikely Binch
1. Tobey Maguire Returns - Laugh
2. Andrew Garfield Returns - Laugh
3. Sam Strike - Cry

Conclusion: I've become increasingly more apathetic as the days and weeks go by.

How about Sprayberry? Let's add Sprayberry to my list.

Nope.

I've seen Season 4 of Teen Wolf, anyway, and there's nothing about his work or his appearance there that would give me any confidence.

I don't get the hatred for the young Disney stars. Just because the shows they are on are crap doesn't mean that they aren't talented. If one of them gives a mindblowing audition, do you expect Disney to say "Sorry, kid, but we don't serve your kind here"? Every star has to come from somewhere, it doesn't matter where.

1. Asa Butterfield- Disappointed
2. Dylan O'Brien- Estatic
3. Logan Lerman- Shocked
4. Matteus Ward- Meh

5. Chandler Riggs- Disappointed
6. Teo Halm- Indifferent
7. Charlie Rowe- Very optimistic
8. Vincent Martella- On the fence
9. Freddie Higmore- Indifferent
10. Any Young Male Actor From A Disney/Nick Show- Pissed
11. Donald Glover- Disappointed
12. Dylan Sprayberry- Pissed

3. Sam Strike- Pissed

If the only way for O'Brien to be Spider-Man was to give him a happy ending, would you do it? 'Cos I can imagine it around here :hmm

Completelu ageed.

People's blind hatred of Disney show or movies kids is the same reason they continue to give Zac Efron crap despite him proving that he knows how to act.

in my opinion i serious doubt any nick/disney kid actor would be selected in the role for peter. And likely wont see any in any sort of key role.

Ok so give us some actors on disney right now that can actually act

Honestly, after watching Maze Runner I don't know what all the fuss is about with regards to O'Brian. When I saw Social Network I was like, oh yeah, this kid (Garfield) is good. I was completely 'meh' on O'Brien. Asa gives a great job on Hugo, a good job on Ender and looks phenomenal in X+Y.

The clamour for O'Brien has to be looks based it can't be based on acting ability.

well i never see that film myself. But i was saying the other day you cant just judge any actor off one project. Since they may have done a bad performance in one and then blew it out of the water in another. And may act one way for one project and another for a different project.

O brien and asa gave an on par performance in MR and Enders game. In fact I thought ender was boring and a meh performance from Asa, when hes usually better

ya like i said no one is ever 100% great all the time. Look at some of the best actors out there like a clooney, or a brad pitt, and jolie, and what not. They all have bad movies. Your only as good as your next movie. You could go from being a great A lister and in one movie drop off the face of the earth. Or the reverse you can go from a unknown to blowing up for years.

The thing that works for dylan is that he has the same loveable dorkiness thing as chris pratt, a certain star power and charisma most actors dont have, bc its a more natural thing to have

Most of the blind hatred comes from people who aren't in the Disney target audience anyway. If they pick a Disney teen who fits the part as written, and can knock it out of the park , I'll be good with it.

That is my feeling as well. As long as the actor can perform well I don't care that they got their start on a bad Disney sitcom.

I'm in my 30s and I have a guilty pleasure for Disney shows. Zac is pretty much the only person to come from Disney (not counting the girls) to have any sense of presence and acting her ability. You knew he was going to be special from the very beginning. It is unfortunate that he's type-casted but that's because he was so pretty. The rest if the Disney guys fade into the wall. They're not strong at all.

I'd like to reiterate that I am not asking for a bad actor. If an actor comes off of a Disney show and they are a bad actor of course I don't want that actor to play Spider-Man. On the other hand I don't want a good actor dismissed because they come from Disney's ****-up-a-kid sausage factory.
